What elevates this podcast, crazy as it may seem, is Matt. Matt being a good friend of Taker, willing to tease him, adds to the casual atmosphere. So many other wrestlers have Conrad Thompson in his spot, production quality is way lower despite way more ads and he's really just in it for the money, asks very surface level questions or reads Meltzer reviews at them, hurries topics along, talks over the talent (especially if they say something he disagrees with, he will shut them down quickly). This podcast is a breath of fresh air as far as podcasts hosted by wrestlers goes.
Agreed. I use to listen to all of Conrad’s podcasts & just got sick him. I wonder if his podcasts numbers have been slipping hard ever since new and better wrestling podcasts have came out?🤔
I would’ve thought. Matt and undertaker both are savvy enough to see who’s doing big numbers in the world of wrestling podcasting at the moment and I really dig the new format! Very smart business, move by them!
Undertaker had like 5 legendary careers in one career. Think about when Austin retired in 2003. Who thought Undertaker would overtake him by 15 years? Absolutely insane.
I think I heard a story from Austin that there was a challenge between him and Taker as to who would last longer in WWE, but unfortunately Austin's injury made him retire early.
I think the reason this podcast works so well, is very probably the same reason Taker was the head of the locker room for so long: he comes across as an extremely genuine guy, with a great sense of humour, an even greater deal of wisdom, and a level of self deprecation that puts people at ease. The fact that 'Mark' is so incredibly different from 'Taker' means that watching him now is never less than always entertaining and surprising. Testament to how damned good he was at that gimmick for so long. GOAT.
I love how they are outright honest about not knowing what to do or where to take the show. I think in time it will find its place, but for now this is perfect in my opinion

The reason why this is.such a good Podcast and absolutely smashing the numbers coz Mark has 30+ years of 'THE UNDERTAKER` stories that we've all been waiting to listen too. Taker could literally sit in an empty box and tell us all about his career and it would still do numbers. I liked the wrestlemania 25 match more then 26 simply for that moment where we see that look on undertakers face when shawn kicked out of that surprise tombstone off the ropes. The camera zoom combined with the sheer amount of exhausted disbelief on his face and for the icing on the cake JR yelling, "im having an outer body experience."

On one hand, I do believe Taker means what he means when he talks about not wanting to bother people to be on the show. At the same time, I have to also imagine that he remembers he's The Undertaker and (rightfully) commands a lot of respect - if he personally asked most people to be on the show, there's no doubt most people would say yes without missing a beat. No five star matches but yet another five star conversation, this time with @ChrisVanVliet. Please keep ‘em coming! I was waiting for a mention of “Buckle up, Teddy!”😂😂😂
At the end you guys actually predicted Gunther winning the title, and Randy stepping back in the main event scene to challenge for the WHC at Bash in Berlin. Unreal! Hope someone sees this 😮
That match with AJ at Mania will forever be one of my all time greats. Completely different to what we were used to but still had great action and an amazing story. Wrestletalk gave me the name for the match which I'll always refer to it as, the Boneryard match is by far an all time great 👍
12:47- Same! I was a Backyard wrestler also! But unfortunately for me, since I could literally live in a gym and work out 24/7 and still never gain a pound of muscle or even look like I had any muscles, I ended up never doing anything with it!!!
32 and what sealed my end when I was 18 my buddy and I were having a hardcore match and we had the idea of him suplexing me off his roof which was a single story house he puts me in position we fall back which felt like forever we hit the trampoline we didn't bounce we broke through the tarp and just damaged the whole makeshift ring one hospital trip and pissed off parents later that sealed our backyard wrestling career for good god even cleaning it up after sucked
@@brokenteethalbumreviews5388 yup, that would do it! lol Now I’ve jumped off of a second story building onto someone and a table….. but I honestly think that a suplex off a a 1 story building would be way worse! Especially if both of you didn’t have any training on how to control your body on a free fall that was already in motion!!! But mine didn’t stop me…. Even though I was knocked out cold, cut the back of my head open a bit and I got my 2nd out of many concussion in my life! But I was also very reckless and had no sh!ts to give! lol And a bit worse…. But that’s a whole different story! How did you guys land on that trampoline? How big was it? Me and a good deal of the others in our league did use a trampoline for practice before a big match if we didn’t want to get f**ked up trying something new and then wouldn’t be able to do it in the real match and/or if we just wanted to figure out if we could do it!
@AcoylteKraven82 from what I recall fully is as we landed it was on those standard big trampolines you'd see at Walmart and we tried to be like TNA and have posts in different angles and from what I remember we both landed hard enough in the center because we've also used weapons on that trampoline so lots of patching and it just gave in as we landed I remember this tearing and the posts crashing and hearing the guys screaming holy shit like they just witnessed 2 guys getting killed

No five star matches but yet another five star conversation, this time with @ChrisVanVliet. Please keep ‘em coming! I was waiting for a mention of “Buckle up, Teddy!”😂😂😂
This is the conversation I’ve been waiting on!
I literally came over here from my work phone just so I could comment that Chris's Hank Hill impression was spot on
This episode had me laughing throughout. The chemistry was amazing! Big fan of the pod from London 🏴 Keep killing it deadman and Matt
1:20:29 Chris’ Hank Hill impression is actually really good lol
This podcast & the Bad Friends podcast is the only thing that gets the juices flowing on a Monday morning!
That Hank Hill impression 😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
At the end you guys actually predicted Gunther winning the title, and Randy stepping back in the main event scene to challenge for the WHC at Bash in Berlin. Unreal! Hope someone sees this 😮
Taker is my favorite not only as a wrestler but as a person too he is extremely funny entertaining.
Imagining undertaker deadman gimmick with a joint is something that I can’t see but the American badass absolutely
First Maven now CVV. These are the collabs the people want!
Maven and now Chris ?! Banger after Banger!!

@@Ayman888-df3vw true!
Good god almighty this might be the pod of the year
