Hey Greg my name is Jay and I would love to suggest a movie to u if u haven’t watched it already it is called sweet girl on Netflix and it stars Jason Momoa and Isabella Merced who is also gonna be in Madam Web
A thing that I really like is the way stan knows gideon is a fraud since the beginning, Gideon always calls stan "Stanford" while saying he’s a mind reader, so stan always knew he was lying, this show is so amazing.
That and his mom was a psychic fraud too - he knows Gideon's tricks, because he was right there when his mom was pulling those same tricks. The only one that took some time was the cameras in the pins, because I'd assume his mom never did anything that widespread.
“I think he’s always been there…” Yes. When Dipper and Mabel traveled through time, it was the real Stanford that opened the after they left, you can tell by the cleft in his chin. During the boxing flashback, Stanford was on the bleachers in the back in gloves behind a paper he was reading. Stanley’s license plate, seen a few times, said STNLYMBL or Stanley-mobile. When Stanley first saw wax Stan, he freaked out for a moment. When the den was uncovered, Stanley picked and pocketed a pair of glasses on an end table inside and few scenes later was seen sitting staring longingly at them with a sad expression. This was obviously planned from the beginning. The hints were all there.
So yeah, proof that it HAS been there the whole time, the episode Carpet Diem: Stan finds a pair of glasses in a secret room and he spends the rest of the episode sitting in a chair, sad, cleaning them and holding them. Stan doesn't wear glasses, but Ford does
Fun fact: This episode was so big the first time it aired, they allowed no commercials for the full 30 minutes. After that reruns had a 45 minute slot for commercials.
Fun fact: The first time Gideon summons Bill, asks for standord Pines' demise, and Bill, knowing Stanford is in another dimension, reflects upon it and only says "Stan..." Rather than Stanford or Stanley. So much attention to detail.
he also flashes through a shot of Grunkle Stan in the basement and the shot of his "tattoo" aka burn mark, which shows that that's how he knew who Stan was
It's actually been teased since the beginning. Stanley's(Stanford at the time) license plate reads STNLYMBL. You can see Stanley finding stanfords glasses in the carpet room and you can see him fixated on them while resting in his recliner later in the episode. In the first time travel episode, the twins pop up in a snow covered mystery shack and Stanford opens the door to investigate, looking exactly like he does in his flashback, but we at the time assumed it was Stanley. There's subtle differences in their chins that you can see even back in season 1 to tell them apart once you're looking for it. It's also been speculated that thats why Stanley freaked so much when he first saw mables wax sculpture. He thought it was Stanford and throughout the episode started growing a deep attachment to it, going as far as a funeral. People think he's doing so thinking the statue to be symbolizic of his lost twin brother
"A Tale of Two Stans" was truly the most emotional episode of the series that really shows what happened between both Stans with Disney's take on the story of "A Tale of Two Cities" regarding the best of times and worst of times. Even gave a bit of foreshadowing for Dipper and Mabel's sibling relationship and how history could repeat itself just like Stan and Stanley. This episode was the truly second part to "Not What He Seems" with the addition of J.K. Simmons as the voice of the Real Stanford Pines.
There’s so many little things in this episode that are revealed and hidden too, for example the owners of the convenience store Stanley went to after Ford disappeared are the ghosts from season 1 that hate teens, and also the reveal and origin of Stan’s “tattoo” that’s mentioned in the shorts.
I legit watched this episode three times in a row because I thought it was that good. There’s just so much that is easy to miss with one viewing. Great video guys!
9:02 You've heard Fiddleford say this once before during the Society of the Blind Eye episode, but this time he speaks the cipher backwards: "YROO XRKSVI! GIRZMTOV!", which translates to "Bill Cipher! Triangle!" What he saw in the portal is what lead him to create the Society and the device to wipe memories. 9:16.
The Tale of Two Stan's... Me and my older brother FREAKED when we saw this episode. This episode is so special and it does so much for this show and I love to see you guys doing indepth, and real reactions to it. You guys are my favorite reaction UA-camrs. Your doing Fantastic! 😁
To answer your question. Yes, there were a ton of clues. So much the community figured out Stan had a lost twin brother by the end of season 1. I posted a comment last episode's reaction with all the clues I can remember that you can go back and look at.
Dudes! You edited out 2 of my favourite lines in this episode. What gives!? (Soos’ “this better align precisely with my fanfic” line and Stan’s “you think you’ve got problems? I’ve got a mullet!!”)
There’s too many Easter Eggs to list them all. My favorite is the Stan-O-War boat name as Stan kept the name for his boat all the way back in episode 2. This was the first time I remember seeing the Stan Co. a name you can trust gag after Ford mentioned he needed someone he could trust. Surprised something could catch me off guard despite the amount of times I’ve seen this series.
After watching this I got recommended their reaction to 1x19 (which I rewatched of course), and I saw in a close-up shot that the deed to the shack was signed in super fancy cursive writing, which Stanley wouldn't do. This really is awesome
In this episode, I always find it really messed up how Ford never made any effort to try and contact or help his homeless brother for 10 years, especially when he had the means to do so. And even then, he only contacted Stan because things went bad on his end and he needed his help. I may be on the minority but i think Stan's anger was fully warranted. Makes me wonder if the thing with Bill didn't happen: Would Ford actually try and contact Stan on his own? Or would he just keep holding on to his grudge on Stan for a mistake he did when he was only a teenager. Something to think about i guess.
I know this is 2 years old, but I agree. Sure, Ford didn't get to go to the college he wanted because of Stan... but he still got a full education and a grant and got to do what he wanted to do with his life. Compared to what Stan went through, and he still has the gall to be mad at Stan, even when Stan was genuinely sorry? This is why I never fully liked Ford, he's such a petty person with an I am above everyone else attitude.
I just realized those bullies were probably just really jealous of Stan and stans boat I could totally see it too, imagine walking up on 2 dorks for them to have one of the coolest discoveries found in New Jersey. They've got dads. I'd be pretty pissed off toool
It's funny you bring up Better call Saul because there is a connection here. Stan/Ford's father was voiced by Jonathan Banks who played Mike on Breaking Bad.
Remember the first episode with Blendin? The time travel guy? There’s a clip where they go back in time to the shack when it’s snowing, and who we assume to come out of the shack is a young Stanley but looking back at it, it’s most definitely a young Ford. Ya’ll called him “Gruncle STUD” lol.
I love rewatching the episode headhunters after watching this, because his “grief” can be played as narcissism at first but when you know he has a twin brother who he lost, his grief over wax Stan takes on a whole new meaning
I just wanted to say I’m a huge fan of your guys videos. Keep up the amazing work and I know there are a lot of people including myself that appreciate the work you guys put into making these videos. From the Marvel updates to the first time movie watches to the ep breakdowns. Thank you!
It is interesting the parallels this episode has to Better Call Saul, yet this episode released months apart from the premiere season of Saul, making it impossible to have been an intentional reference to it.
Speaking of it being a plot from the beginning. In the carpet body swap episodes you can see Stan hide Ford's glasses. In the time travel episode (where Mabel gets Waddles) they run past the Shack in the past and it's Ford not Stan who looks out. Then in the episode where they go into stans memories in season 1 you can see Ford in the background of some childhood memories (usually behind books)
From late May to early June 2023, the Disney channel ran most of the two seasons of "Gravity Falls." (Episode #6 of BOTH seasons weren't broadcast.) I ran across this episode a couple of times, and DID NOT see the very beginning of the young Twin Pines segment that starts the episode. Oh well, I got to see it, finally.
Yoo, this came out on my birthday and it’s one of my favorite episodes :D And yes, there are a few hints to Ford’s existence in the first season! You can tell they had this whole story planned from the very beginning For example, in Dreamscaperers, you can see another kid on the bleachers reading a book in Stan’s boxing memory. And in Carpet Diem, Stan picks up a pair of glasses in the spare room and is seen cleaning them later. There a couple other things not coming to mind, but it’s very cool to see how it’s always been there from the very beginning Another example of this is how you can see Blendin appear as far back as episode 1, when he was going back to fix the time anomalies or whatever they were called
I remember watching a fan theory vid years ago, long before season 2 started airing. It explained how the Stanford that we knew was actually Stanley and he had a twin brother named Stanford who was probably the author of the books. It was mainly due to his license plate, all the coded stuff and that one Bill Cipher episode where Stan was in gym class in his memories.
i thought the “uh oh” was bc greg is gonna love it lmao. even after 2 seasons there is so much lore and many easter eggs that make this show very entertaining. love you guys hope you’re doing well❤️🔥 i’m excited for you guys to learn everything about the show too after you finish it if you’re interested
Also Another thing I haven't noticed a lot of people say is in episode 2 of the series Grunkle Stan wants to take the kids out fishing for the day. The name on the boat is the StanOwar which is the name Stanley and Standford created fr their boat when they were younger. as well it explains why he took it so hard that they didn't want to go fishing with him. Because it was like Stanford all over again. you even see in on of the pages of the journal a little picture of a sail boat that has been crossed out obviously done by Stanford when making the journals.
I kinda hade ford in this episode. It’s like I understand you’re mad at him wrecking your machine, but you straight up let your father throw your brother out in the street leaving him with no where to go and now your suddenly expecting him to assist you
Even worse, sure, Ford didn't go to his dream college, but he still got a good education and he got a grant and got to investigate what he always wanted to do. And Stan was genuinely sorry about his mistake. He's so petty in an ugly way.
While Stanley is definitely a fuck-up, he falls prey to Stanford's short-sightedness/hubris. For one thing, if Stanford built a working perpetual motion machine that busts with the shake of a table, having it on one of those weak fold outs in a high school gym with nothing to protect it from damage or disruption? That thing was going down no matter what. Also, seriously, a working perpetual motion machine is such a fundamental violation of our model of physics, he could rebuild the damn thing and walk into any university with it and get admitted. Also, you'd think a super-genius that built an interdimensional gateway would have some Lock-Out Tag-Out protocols so the damn thing couldn't be activated accidentally!
I also love how the creators of Gravity Falls and Rick and Morty are friends and have small Easter eggs showing connections between the two shows. One involves Ford but I won’t go into detail in case you all want to look it up and watch it for yourselves ^^ It’s just fun knowing that a Disney show that is targeted for kids (even though it’s also for older audiences) is connected to an Adult Swim cartoon XD
hey reel rejects great reaction video👏👏👍👍 and i love this episode of gravity falls🧑🧢👧🧔🏼🧔🏼🏡❤😊❤ it's a fantastic/an Amazing gravity falls episode🎬🎥👌and fun fact: jk Simmons did the voice of stanford pines and jonathan banks did the voice of stan and ford's father
I found a secret detail in the flashbacks!, so, in some of the episodes(idk which ones), we can take a look on stanly’s back, and if you look closely, we see a “tattoo”, that looks like a symbol, well, its actually NOT a tattoo, its actually a scar, cause if you look in stanly’s flashbacks, where stanly and stanford is having an argument, stanford kicked stanly into a wall, where theres the symbol that is the exact one on stanly’s back, and stanly got his back burned by it, which left him having a permanent scar(i think) and also, when we first met bill cipher, after gideon ordered him to get into stanly’s mind, we saw his body change into an image of stanly, just like the time traveler guy, and after that image, then there was an image of the symbol, when bill cipher saw the symbol, he looked shocked cause he knows what the symbol is
Decrypted cypher for this episode: A STUBBORN TOUGH NEW JERSEY NATIVE FILBRICK WASN’T TOO CREATIVE HAVING TWINS WAS NOT HIS PLAN SO HE JUST SHRUGGED AND NAMED BOTH STAN
John 3:16 [16]For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Matthew 24:4-14 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. 24:5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 24:6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. 24:8 All these are the beginning of sorrows. 24:9 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. 24:10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 24:11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 24:12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 24:13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. Exodus 20 King James Version 20 And God spake all these words, saying, 2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. 5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments. 7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain. 8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: 10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: 11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. 12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee. 13 Thou shalt not kill. 14 Thou shalt not commit adultery. 15 Thou shalt not steal. 16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour. 17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's. ..,..,..,.., .......... .,........,. ,.,,,,,,,,,,,., ............ ,.........,..,

Oh man I never realized that's how Stan knew. I mean with how crazy GF is it wouldn't have been that weird if he'd been telling the truth.

Wasabi!
Plus, he was probably looking at Mabel and Dipper fighting, reminded of him and Ford.
Also, his car liscence plate is stnlymbl
You can also see ford reading a book in Stan's memory of him wrestling
Don't forget Stans fishing boat in the gobblewonker episode is called Stan o war

Yoo, this came out on my birthday and it’s one of my favorite episodes :D
And yes, there are a few hints to Ford’s existence in the first season! You can tell they had this whole story planned from the very beginning
For example, in Dreamscaperers, you can see another kid on the bleachers reading a book in Stan’s boxing memory. And in Carpet Diem, Stan picks up a pair of glasses in the spare room and is seen cleaning them later. There a couple other things not coming to mind, but it’s very cool to see how it’s always been there from the very beginning
Another example of this is how you can see Blendin appear as far back as episode 1, when he was going back to fix the time anomalies or whatever they were called
I love how SPIDERMAN-PS4 posted the first four popular comments. Not angry, just really amused and kinda happy
We are finally here! I love this show!
Love your reactions to gravity falls!
7:52 1 ah~~, 2 ajaja,
dipper: AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! 😂
the triangle portal is a reference to bill because it’s a triangle with a circle in the middle!
SO EXCITED IT IS HERE SO QUICKLY! 🧡
Jonathan banks as stanley and Stanfords dad is amazing
My favorite episode 😄
I also love how the creators of Gravity Falls and Rick and Morty are friends and have small Easter eggs showing connections between the two shows. One involves Ford but I won’t go into detail in case you all want to look it up and watch it for yourselves ^^
It’s just fun knowing that a Disney show that is targeted for kids (even though it’s also for older audiences) is connected to an Adult Swim cartoon XD
Bro soos is basically me when I see a video of the cipher hunt and tell my sister
If you rewatch season 1 episodes 2 and 3 you can definitely get something different out of the episode knowing Stan’s backstory
I will always love that they made fiddleford Steve Jobs basically
hey reel rejects great reaction video👏👏👍👍 and i love this episode of gravity falls🧑🧢👧🧔🏼🧔🏼🏡❤😊❤ it's a fantastic/an Amazing gravity falls episode🎬🎥👌and fun fact: jk Simmons did the voice of stanford pines and jonathan banks did the voice of stan and ford's father
This where the fun begin
now re-watch the wax figures episode, it gets DARK
I found a secret detail in the flashbacks!, so, in some of the episodes(idk which ones), we can take a look on stanly’s back, and if you look closely, we see a “tattoo”, that looks like a symbol, well, its actually NOT a tattoo, its actually a scar, cause if you look in stanly’s flashbacks, where stanly and stanford is having an argument, stanford kicked stanly into a wall, where theres the symbol that is the exact one on stanly’s back, and stanly got his back burned by it, which left him having a permanent scar(i think) and also, when we first met bill cipher, after gideon ordered him to get into stanly’s mind, we saw his body change into an image of stanly, just like the time traveler guy, and after that image, then there was an image of the symbol, when bill cipher saw the symbol, he looked shocked cause he knows what the symbol is
Decrypted cypher for this episode:
A STUBBORN TOUGH NEW JERSEY NATIVE
FILBRICK WASN’T TOO CREATIVE
HAVING TWINS WAS NOT HIS PLAN
SO HE JUST SHRUGGED AND NAMED BOTH STAN
Lets go Doods! Bros before Dinos!
It took me over 3 years to realize that Johnathan Banks plays Stan's Dad, funny because I've been watching better call saul
There were so many easter eggs and references in this episode that there could be an entire New Rockstars video on it.
Hey quick thing on your gravity falls playlist you don't have season 2 episode 3 and 7 listed, just thought I'd let you guy's know.

They implied in The Love God episode that they’ve seen Adventure Time. Not sure if they’ve seen Regular Show though, so that’s a possibility.

Exodus 20
King James Version
20 And God spake all these words, saying,
2 I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
