While the intro on the PC Engine is beautifully drawn and animated, In-game, the Megadrive's presentation is a lot more vibrant, and it also has some fantastic sounding FM music, so I'm going to go with that.

Since I already interested with Puyo Puyo. I want to play Madou Monogatari series as well but with a proper english localisation so it get a connection to Puyo Puyo's original lore. But it seems very unlikely since Compile was not around anymore for a long time & I don't know who held the right to the series with exception to its characters & Puyo Puyo gameplay that already sold to Sega.
Voices are super loud in the Mega Drive version! o_O maybe something with the emulation? Otherwise music is great, better than on PC Engine IMO and more consistent since on PC Engine the game alternates CD music with chip music which causes some jarring contrasts. Graphics look good in both but the Mega Drive has nicer in-game presentation, with Arle's portrait having a more elaborate perspective, and also more animations, like the blazing torches in the dungeon or the monsters which are more lively. Also I didn't play this game yet but from what I read, the Mega Drive version has some exclusive gameplay elements. If someone can confirm and even explain, that would be nice :) edit: apparently the gameplay on Mega Drive is based on button combinations in order to cast various magic spells. Sounds pretty cool.

I'm really confused, is the story really being told or are the adaptation of the MSX version? In the PCE for the animation without dialogues it seems that a prologue tells us that the protagonist was divided into a bad one and a good one and they met winning the good one, and there is no reference that it was a dream; If it looked very nice but I felt everything is very basic and even elongated prologue being able to make it shorter or cover much more of the background. In the case of MD, despite being a cartridge, it has a great design that, without the power of the CD, managed to tell a lot, but much more, in its prologue with dialogues, interactions between characters that even without knowing Japanese by the direction of images is understood much visually, as things: the premonitory dream, the insecurity of the expectations of friends, and even the girl with suspicion against the protagonist when moving stealthily in the background; All of these aspects, for more complex aspects of PCE kinematics, do not appreciate any of this if not something simpler. What is indisputable is the improvement of the version in the graphic interface of the MD version game.
Dungeon crawling fun!! Never heard this game until now! Pc Engine Cd has immersive cutsecnes, better resolution, more sounds and lighter colors than Mega drive. PC engine CD combat look like turn based! Mega drive has louder sound, darker colors, more animation (for example torch animation) and combat look action based system. Let´s say draw!
Obvio que do PC Engine vai ser melhor, video game de CD, q possibilita imagens de maior qualidade e som melhor por causa do maior armazenamento. Mas vamos ser justo, tem coisa que no Mega é mais bem feito, por exemplo, no mapa, o teto e o chão tem textura, e a imagem da garotinha é maior, porem estático.

I've played both, and I prefer the PC engine CD version, the gameplay is less convoluted and I find the graphics and sound to be more pleasing to my eyes and ears respectively...
These are the ports of the first games Arle appeared in. The completely original game where Arle first appeared in was the PC-98 version in 1989, which is 2 yeas before the first Puyo Puyo games.
The colors on the MD version is grainy for the dungeon. The PCE version, while plain, has better colors. Overall the MD version is better because the battle scenes are more interesting (side view). I heard the MD version has more content. Really baffling, considering the PCE version is on CD. More like a cash grab version on the PCE.
+Rodrigo Momo The Mega Drive is also from the 80s, PC Engine = 1987 while Mega Drive = 1988 ;) And the game here runs on stock Mega Drive hardware while the PC Engine version requires the Super CD-Rom add-on (which, btw, was released in 1991) + the Arcade Card. All of this actually makes the Mega Drive more impressive.
Is it just me or in the pc engine cd arle's dressing just doesn't scream arle nadja I mean she looks like an obedient nice little girl but in the puyo games she is kinda rude so she isn't a nice obedient little girl she isn't even polite. play madou monogatari Big kindergarten kids or any English patched puyo game to prove my point.
I have to admit, the girl knows how to put a smile on that cute little face of hers through this dark and depressing dungeon!

This is about Madou Monogatari, not Puyo. Puyo 1 still doesn't have a real English translation.
