There are animals that do have a gendered hierarchy, where some males have higher social status than others, but with animals like chimps it’s usually a bit more complex than “big strong male gets all the girls” as in chimps the alpha is usually the most socially savvy male of the troop. In some animals like elephant seals the males are significantly larger and more dimorphic than the females, and they’ll even go out of their way to guard their harems from rival males, so the females don’t really have as much of a choice seeing as the males can just keep them in line and overpower them if they want to. And in other animals still, like lions, the females have more power than we think, and will outright chase off the “alpha” male if they don’t like him anymore. So yeah, while it does kind of exist in some capacity, it’s usually a lot more complex than these guys make it out to be. Hell, in a lot of animals, females generally outrank males, and some animals don’t really give a fuck about male/female dominance.

So while some species do have what would be called an “alpha male” they usually vary from species to species, which is why applying it as a blanket term to humans like these guys do is stupid.

The whole alpha-beta thing as applied to wolves is incorrect. There are animals that do have a gendered hierarchy, where some males have higher social status than others, but with animals like chimps it’s usually a bit more complex than “big strong male gets all the girls” as in chimps the alpha is usually the most socially savvy male of the troop.
In some animals like elephant seals the males are significantly larger and more dimorphic than the females, and they’ll even go out of their way to guard their harems from rival males, so the females don’t really have as much of a choice seeing as the males can just keep them in line and overpower them if they want to.
And in other animals still, like lions, the females have more power than we think, and will outright chase off the “alpha” male if they don’t like him anymore. So yeah, while it does kind of exist in some capacity, it’s usually a lot more complex than these guys make it out to be. Hell, in a lot of animals, females generally outrank males, and some animals don’t really give a fuck about male/female dominance.

Eliminating variable is eliminating said study because majority of results from multiple studies shows the opposite.
Science is progressive and might change, that's why it keeps eliminating variables. Unlike Math, Science doesn't have permanent solutions.
