@@miket2916I am confused about the same, maybe it means we should strive for change (or betterment) in general and not just to improve the aesthetics or for “beautification” purposes.
Or we should change (improve) for the sake of improvement and not aesthetics.

“For I have a single definition of success: you look in the mirror every evening, and wonder if you disappoint the person you were at 18, right before the age when people start getting corrupted by life. Let him or her be the only judge; not your reputation, not your wealth, not your standing in the community, not the decorations on your lapel. If you do not feel ashamed, you are successful. All other definitions of success are modern constructions; fragile modern constructions.”

Run these beside the Jordan Peterson rules for life - interesting points of departure. We are in an era where shallow thinking presents glib instructionals in a video a few minutes long and sets it up as Teaching on a platform such as UA-cam. But in this case, there is a plenty of effort been expended in arriving at his conclusions. It's better to hear Mr Taleb in summary than in drawn-out speaking. He is a better writer than speaker.

Commendations for the work you put into making this video.
But I wonder what Mr. Taleb would think of his ideas being turned into an "11 Rules / How to" short video when he himself dismisses such short-hand quick-to-digest knowledge in his essay Antifragile, and when his own website prohibits others from giving him titles like the Sunday Times did by naming his book as one of the 12 most influential books since WWII (mentioned in the video's description).
UA-cam is UA-cam, and clickbait evidently works, but as he himself put it at 2:02 of this video: "For almost all people I have met, external, and not internal, success came with an increase in fragility."

Surely the best way for Americans to live resilient lives would be to act collectively to create an efficient, all-inclusive national health system, to ban military weapons being held by private individuals, and to restrict gun ownership generally. Every other civilized nation managed to do that long ago. If they did those things, a lot of resilience would immediately be built into their existence at very little cost and they could think about more creative and productive topics, as befits a rich, advanced nation.
