’Zemke’s Wolfpack’, the 56th Fighter Group was one of the most famous fighting units of the USAAF in World War II. Flying the P-47 Thunderbolt throughout their time stationed in England, the Group had more ace pilots and destroyed more enemy aircraft in air combat than any other. A large archive of detailed combat reports written by the pilots is available online, and Reflected Simulations endeavored to recreate these events in DCS World exactly the way they happened. Strap in to your ’Jug’ and re-live some of the most epic air battles of the ETO in the Spring of 1944.

Finished mission 3 couple of minutes ago and I´m in awe how much effort you´ve put into this missions.

@@ReflectedSimulations Finished the campaign today and I loved every bit of it. Especially the little non combat missions add something to the campaign and make it feel more alive. I liked how the player moves forward in the formation over the duration of the campaign and how the missions keep on getting more challanging.
The liveries (especially the one in the last missions) are so well done and I use them all the time when I´m flying in SP/MP.
Now I´m off to V for Victory, looking forward to flying the Mossie.
This music builds tension, perfectly reflects the atmosphere of flights over occupied Europe. I found this piece. Thanks to this campaign, the P-47 makes sense in DCS at all. The campaign is very realistic, reminds me of the memories of pilots from the Second World War.

oke the great Crankshaft destroyer is back!! did some more training, warmed up the engine properly, understand turbo and prop management, hit space taxi out; The leader would not start his take off role, so I passes him, took off. all looked good. midway in the climb to altitude, just of the coast, my engine suddenly starts making these noises and then dies again, I glide back to manson airfield for a successfull landing. I guess I am still screwing up the climb engine management…

Very very good video. One question, I am totally new to DCS. Actually i fly modern dcs and want to buy a first ww2 aircraft, visually I like the p-47, much more than than the p-51. Which one would you recommend and why? Is it true that the p-47 for A2A is not very good? I was told that it is really slow to turn and is not worth buying with other aircraft alternatives? Have you flown the P-51? How do you compare them. Thanks you very much
Hi Ravent, If you're new to ww2 warbirds in DCS I would recommend the P-47, especially if you like the looks of it better. It is much more forgiving in combat especially in engine management than the mustang. The P-47 is surprisingly good in a fight and will actually out turn the mustang in some cases and the added firepower is a bonus. After all, the top aces in the ETO flew the P-47 so it couldn't be that bad! The P-51 is more lethal in the hands of an experienced warbird pilot due to its speed but it is harder to make use of that performance. Overall I would say the mustang has an edge in all out performance but is MUCH more punishing of mistakes. Otherwise the best advice I can give is pick one and take the time to master it. If you maintain situational awareness you'll already be doing great. If you haven't already, hop on the Storm of War Discord (see philstyle's channel). If you post on the wingman finder you'll get a line of folks willing to fly with you to teach you whichever warbird you choose including myself. Not to mention SOW server the best ww2 multiplayer server around. Btw it seems that both planes have a similar number of kills per hour flown. Cheers!
Hi Ravent, all warbirds are good, just in a different way. Get whichever appeals to you then learn how to operate it, and how to use its strengths in combat. The P-47 turns quite well especially at higher altitudes. Low down it's a little slow compared to German fighters. It's good for A2G, better than the P-51, because it can take a lot of punishment. The P-51 is faster, sleeker, but more vulnerable and needs more precise handling due to its laminar wings. The P-47 has an extra lever compared to the P-51, the supercharger control, but you'll quickly get used to it. Check out my P-47 tutorial for more info.
I have a question. Can any of the p47 models be used in this campaign or only the early 30.
You start on the early model, and later you get a newer one. It’s part of the campaign progression.

Looks amazing. Truly. That blue P-47 at 2:30 is my favorite paint scheme. It was only used on P-47Ms of the 63rd FS. Is that modeled as a P-47M, or a D? BTW, the squadron code should be "UN", not "OI". I thought this was supposed to be accurate. ;)
It was modeled after an M. All aircraft have proper squadron codes in game - except statics that are not changeable. This footage was recorded separately, and the code was left on the default '001' by accident, well spotted :)
Are the New Clouds from 2.7. integrated in the Missions?
of course, I couldn't have the 2.5 clouds even if I wanted to :)
OK a minute into this video and I'm still driving a Jeep through cow shit. Seriously, I did this campaign and I realy liked it. You don't really drive a Jeep through cow shit for a third of the campaign. Thought you'd like to know.

Sorry..sucked. Mission 1 wolfpack. I get realism or whatever but. Cannot keep up with the AI pilots. Flying with wep just to keep flight close. drop tank is empty by the time i cross the channel.. when we turn for home the AI is still flying on their drop tanks. gauges look fine, I think, milking gas trying to get home. Lost the flight 1/2 hour and ago-flying alone...after hours engine dies because??? I have no idea. Crash land. Waste of time. no combat, AI flying their machine on the needlepoint of perfection. do I want to give it a 20th go? NOPE.

You really gotta understand the P-47 system, yeah the AI sucks but if you know how they move and add the correct power then you can stick with some somewhat well. I have had my issues, I had to redo a mission because a friendly ai ran into me, while I was in a dogfight.
