    It looks like an awesome design, but the plastic end that is used to reference the blade or bit against isn't going to last long when rubbing against carbide cutters. Even in this clip you could see the router bit shave off some plastic. How long would it take for that to result in a less than accurate cut? Perhaps they need a different material for the reference surface?

      My prototype unit is more than 2 years old and this has not been an issue with a bit of care.

    Looks like it would also be good for setting a wheel type marking gauge. The problem with the way that is demonstrated in the video is that the division will always be off by the thickness of the pencil mark, you can mostly allow for this by marking from the face side then marking from the 'wrong' side on the second piece - the half lap will be off dead center by the thickness of the pencil but the outside surfaces should be flat. When I get one I'll be using it to set my marking gauge then rough cut the joint with power tools or a handsaw and finish it off by hand with a router plane.

      Bruce, a marking knife gives VERY precise lines with no offset.
