Also don´t forget: You might have imperfections compared to other world-renowned dancers. But for me, a non-dancer, you look absolutely perfect. Think of your past self and give yourself a pad on the shoulder for how far you have come.
Girls, I stopped pre-pro aged 19 to go to Oxford University in the mid 90s when there were no proper schools/studios anywhere. Switched to ballroom dancing and got my Oxford Blue… which isn’t the point. The point is… it took me 28 years to find a good, professionally-led adult studio to get me pointing my feet again! The right people will inspire you to move again. Bless all you pro dancers who devise classes and workshops for us amateurs xx
One thing you said reminded me of a quote from the great Martha Graham: “There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost.” Keep dancing for us, the world needs you.
100% agree - no need to be perfect to perform. I started filming dance vids when I was like 13, and even tho a lot of them were terrible, I still have no regret because you can look back on your younger self and see how far you’ve come. Sometimes watching old vids will also pleasantly surprise you and make you think “huh, maybe I was actually better than I gave myself credit for at the time.” Either way, it’s fun to perform, fun to look back on, and art is always meant to be shared ❤
I didn't know much about ballet before watching your videos, but I've loved learning so much about it and getting to watch you dance was a treat! Ballet still looks like magic to me -- I swear you just turn off gravity for some of those delicate moves.
So fun to watch dance❤. There is not a single professional dancer who believes they are perfect. It is not possible. You would have to be a combination of 5 or more of the best dancers and never have an off day. Dance on and share with us ❤
There's something about this video that hits differently. The slow pace, the prozaic and philosophical narrative, the calm, open space and the dancing that you managed to make look effortless. It left me feeling deeply calm, and also inspired
EVERYONE HAS. BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ever since the Birthday for 10k (ur last video went from 30k to 30,8k in only a WEEK, u can def get like 10M in a month that’s crazy, BALLET NERDS ARE RISING CONGRATS)
Im 33 years old and Ive been back to ballet for around 14 months now. I have a 12 year ballet background and now things are much more difficult, so I couldn’t feel more related to the “not good enough” way of thinking. But life’s exactly about what you said and more: we must be brave and give our best to this amazing form of art. That is more than good enough, it’s staying true to ourselves. You are absolutely gorgeous dancers by the way. Keep on ❤ we are eager to see more!
I felt inhibited all my life about my body (brother teased me mercilessly) and my physical inflexibility & unsportiness. Now I’ve reached retirement age I’ve joined a dance class (ballet) which is the highlight of my week & of the others too, it’s superb and we all do the best we can. We’re all different (senior) ages/sizes/abilities & there’s a lovely atmosphere as well as a superb teacher & some lovely music ❤
oh my goodness I teared up...I needed this so much today. Also know that while you will never be enough, Christ was, and he took all of your imperfections on Himself and He gives all of His perfection to those who are in Him
I usually turn off pep talk content, but this was just the right combination of we’re-finally-doing-it and here’s-why-we-nearly-didn’t. you’re right about Pavlova - passion and artistry run hand in hand, and are always a joy to watch.
I really enjoy the nerdiness of this channel I love learning new things and I recently decided to chase my childhood ballerina dreams and I have been practicing steps and classes from youtube. eventually I will go to an in person adult class. this video is so sweet! you guys have amazing incredible skill, with such control to hold the extensions
This was so beautiful. I loved it and want to watch it over and over. And as a perfectionist who has been struggling with writing lately, this was just what I needed.
What an absolute dream of a studio and studio buddy. Thank you for the encouraging words and wisdom. Sincerely, a ballet student one year into her journey (as a 34 year old with no prior experience) ❤
I just found your channel and am in the process of binge watching all your videos. You're basically the TwoSet of ballet and I am absolutely IN LOVE. Never stop doing what you're doing!!
You two ladies are the sweetest, most humble and beautiful people. Thank you for sharing your dancing with us. I too wanted to see you both practicing your craft and even performing. You are right, none of us are perfect and admitting that to ourselves and accepting it as part of being human is a good thing. It's what helps us grow. Thank you ladies for sharing. Big hugs!❤
All I can say is: more more more! ❤ you guys are both exquisite and down-to-earth! I have long been out of the ballet world but I LOVE watching you guys dance! So beautiful!
What a gem of a video! Long term ballet nerd but not a dancer here. Love your channel and loved watching you dance. Where did you train and where have you performed?
Beautiful video!!! Y’all are such stunning dancers ❤ 3 request: videos of y’all doing variations, longer dancing(I could watch it all day! 😊, and could y’all do a ballet analysis on Napoli please 😁 I really thank you both for posting this video 🩰
this is the reminder i needed- i've been meaning for a year now to find time to take a class again (consistently, which i havent since 2021) so that I can get back in pointe shoes, which i miss deeply. I'll find time in my schedule somewhere, i'm sure.
First of all ya both are fantastic dancers, secondly I think we end up following channels because of the person/people, are intelligent, good humoured, passionate, excited, humble, fun....all plays in. There are absolute stars of ballet who post often, who I've unfollowed because of not being a big fan of their personality and attitude
How brave and wonderful!! Of course we want to see more of you two dancing. You each have such beautiful, and different, qualities as dancers. It's so lovely to watch. I'm 50 now and still dancing, but at 16 I abruptly quit pre-professional training, in part because I had lost the feeling of joy I got when dancing. It had become all about not being perfect enough, not what it actually meant to dance. My hope for you both is many, many years of healthy, joyous dancing! Try not to forget what it's all about - movement, feeling and music. ;)
I've been keen to watch you two dance for a while now. Not so I could judge you, which seems to be what you feared maybe, but just because I love to see people doing something they have a passion for. One thing I know about you both is that you have a lot of passion for ballet. I understand the reticence but I'm glad you showed a little bit of yourselves and that in some of the clips you were smiling and laughing even lol. It was fun to see you being a little relaxed about it though it must have been a big hurdle for you both. Don't ever worry about being perfect or exposing yourself to ridicule or any of that nonsense. As long as you're able to laugh at yourselves the laughter of others shouldn't be a problem. I've lived in England for a long time and I've seen so many shows featuring Darcey Bussel, for one example, in which I've seen her falling, tripping, forgetting the steps and so on - I'm talking about shows featuring clips of her rehearsing or just warming up, or just Saturday Night family entertainment shows she's participated in for fun and the like. She doesn't mind people seeing her imperfections and she's never lost any respect over any of it. We love the way she can be so free and open with it all instead of taking herself deadly seriously all the time. Basically, I'm saying none of us is nseriously expecting even someone with Ms Bussel's career behind her to have been perfect at every moment she ever pulled on a pair of tights and, with all respect, I don't think any of us is expecting you to be perfect either. I just want to see someone doing something they love doing and enjoying themselves. It brings me joy. Watching you both talk about your passion brings me joy as well, but I'd still like to see more of you dancing. That said, if this is all you ever want to show, I'm happy with just this much anyway. Just do what makes you happy, smile and have fun. We will love every second of it, whatever it is.
OMG I was waiting to see you two dance!! You both really made me fall completely in love with ballet. It would be amazing if you guys did a beginner ballet class video one day❤
Thank you so much ladies for sharing with us! What a beautiful studio and setting; it's a scenic and peaceful place! You both have beautiful tech.! 😊👋💯💐💐
What a lovely video! I'm sorry I missed the chance to talk with the wonderful family you've gathered, but so glad to watch it and nod and agree with all of your encouraging points. Have a wonderful week, one and all!
You both look stunning. of course Eden is a firebird and Jordan is a swan. that makes so much sense in my mind. ALSO CAN WE TALK ABOUT YOUR FEET! Gah jealous. And I 100% agree with the comments down below that this video should be longer. I really needed this video today. Im currently in a boot from a calf tear sustained doing ballet and im just so worried im going to fall behind. Behind who, behind what besides my own timeline for myself idk...but its nice to see other dancers who are feeling some type of way about dance.
Loll thank u for watching! 😆😆 So sorry for your injury, pls take ur time coming back and focus on *you* not perfection. Sending healing ballet nerd vibes ❤️🩹❤️🩹
Thank you for sharing your class. And even more, thank you for sharing your thoughts on striving for the impossible and for needing to ACCEPT OUR IMPERFECTION. We forget this so often in classical ballet. I love you both even more for this video! ❤❤❤
Thank you for putting yourselves out there! I am not a dancer, nor will I ever be, but I have been going through every single video on your channel (gonna watch them all!) and have enjoyed every single one immensely. Except I wondered why there were none of you all dancing! We, your loving, adoring fans, know that no one is perfect and are just happy to see you two do the craft you are so very good at. I play trumpet and am very much a perfectionist myself, and while I never play more than twice a year at church these days, I always beat myself up after I do play, because I see/hear mistakes mistakes mistakes. But then one person after another will come up to me and tell me just how much they enjoyed my playing, and when will I be doing it again? Never underestimate the enjoyment of your audience!
So lovely!! Ballet/Dance mama here, and I just want to say that I'm so proud of you! Continue to be true to yourselves, your art and your faith. Blessings and best wishes
Oh girls, thank you for sharing this! I love the beauty and elegance of your movements. I danced for about five years before choosing a musical path, and am a musician. I totally understand the drive to keep I,proving and feeling something isn’t ready or good enough, but your sentiments about progress and challenging yourselves rings true. Love you guys!
So lovely watching you both training and dancing - you are absolutely right, dance should be about enjoyment and entertaining, not about being *100% perfect*! ❤❤❤
awww I needed this pep talk today, thank you for this. Loved your dancing!! The general "let your light shine, dance in your imperfections" message is great. Looking forward to more!
The only bad thing to say about this video, is that it’s so short 😭😢
Lolll don’t worry there will be more coming soon 😆😆
I wholeheartedly agree.
Yeyyy 🥳
100% agree with you

Could you guys do a video of your routine/exercises for those of us who can't find a good studio??
