Does anyone else feel that these fantastic performing Pacifica's would sell better if they were rebranded to remove the beginner guitar stigma?
They should seriously get rid of that incomplete looking pickgard.
Just let us see more wood and that beautiful finish rather than that ugly ass pickgard.
@@user-pt1ye7vd7m Coudln't agree more. I don't like the headstock either but that's the identity of the brand so I understand. The pickguard is unforgivable tho
@@thekramer1097
I believe they were trying to come up with a design that separates their guitars from the rest but why that pickgard that doesn't serve any purpose other than just being there looking half complete and useless and making the guitar look like a toy rather than a serious instrument?
It doesn't even hold any of the electronics together like the proper pickgards do on regular strats. lol Doesn't even reach the volume knob. lol
I don't like the headstock either, although I think I can live with it, but that pickgard man. lol
I'd buy them if it weren't for those terrible pickgards though. From the specs.
Too skinny looking. Like it belongs in a bikini contest, but could’ve had an extra meal and been just fine.
Most manufacturers try to make a £200 guitar which looks like a £900 guitar. Yamaha thought: I wonder if this would work the other way...?
They clearly just don't understand a massive element of what a guitar is and why we buy them.
I absolutely love and appreciate you guys for putting out videos on a daily basis... Makes my week so much better!
The Pacifica has always stood out as a great player.
I have that exact Nick Johnston guitar and it is BEAUTIFUL!!! Such an amazing guitar and such an amazing feel! 🤟🤘🤌
worst tuners since Squier 2014 and the Pickups just sound exactly like Floer Amazon PUs for 18$
I own the Pacifica 611, which is the hardtail version of the 612. Instead of the single coils it only has a p90 in the neck position. Its the best guitar i have ever played or owned. It stays in tune for dasy, it sounds amazing, it plays like butter and its built like a tank. And its not just a fluke, i played several more in stores after buying mine, and they were all consistently amazing guitars. I own a fender ultra as well, and ive owned and played plenty of much higer end guitars than the pacifica, but there is just no contest. Its insane how good that guitar is, and it gets even crazier when you look at the price. I cant recommend it enough.
Exactly the same for me. I have a musicman and a strandberg and a Mexican fender. When comes winter they all need a new set up as they all become literally unplayable. my yamaha 611 is always fine.
I am considering selling all the others and just keep my Pacifica 611
Nice demonstration ‼️😎🔥
Another great video fellas.
I have the same Fender Strat Player Plus with the same colors. It's a great guitar in every way. It feels good, the pickups sound like Fender and the bridge pickup makes a real difference when you split it. The neck is perfect for me, fine smooth and rolled frets not like the other models. It is a detail of high-end guitars The bridge is also of very good quality and the locking tuners are the same..In that price range for finishes and everything is the best. I also have the Schecter SSS and it feels less like a guitar. The chrome and other parts look of poorer quality. Great video.
Brilliant series of video's! I'm in the market for a good mid priced guitar but am bamboozled by how much is out there
I have that Chapman Hybrid and let me tell you, it's frickin amazing! I only wished they'd gone for a slightly hotter bridge humbucker, the Pearly Gates isn't as versatile as I'd hoped it would be. I'm definitely checking out the Schecter after this!
Great Vid! Nick Johnston is the best! Can you do the same thing except with sss versions?
Fantastic sounds
Jolly good stuff chaps! :)
my favorite of the bunch is probably the schecter, which makes me wanna see a sound like Nick Johnston in march if you bring sound like back
I've been playing guitar for 48 years and Pete still plays better than me with his eyes closed. What a great player....
56 years for me lol
Pete is an absolute gem. Dave Simpson who has been doing some videos for Andertons recently is also exceptional.
The best S type guitar I have ever played is the PRS Fiore Mark Tremonti model. I love having the pickups mounted directly to the body, and the extra tone options from all the pot customizations he did on that one.
You mean Mark Lettieri!
I always play my modded Yamaha Pacifica 112J's!!! It was my first electric guitar I bought in pieces for $40!!!
so much for gibson v epiphone etc, nice video!
I'm so pleased the neck of the Nick Johnston was mentioned, As a lefty I can't try before I buy, I was so close to buying an NJ but now I know it has a slim neck it's off the menu for me :o(
Great video as usual! Just thought I’d point out that the link you’ve put in the description is for the ML1 standard hybrid while in the video Lee is playing the ML1 pro hybrid.
Thank you! Will get that changed
For me, my go to Strat-killers for $1100 and down are the Nick Johnston Traditional, Charvel DK24 HSS, and a (used) Kiesel Delos
The Nick Johnston in Shell Pink looks so beautifull i'm in love with it ! Just Heard not so good opinions about the PU
That flamed roasted maple neck on that inexpensive cutlass is looking mighty fine.
I loved the intro captain
I own a nick Johnston and it punches far and above its price point. It’s like suhr quality for 800 bucks. The tremolo is seamless and the pickups are very balanced
Bought one last night...hope and expect you're right.
@@lazvt8469 how’s it been so far?
@@youngdrew7889 Love it. Not Strat sounding as expected...but a more 'modern' tone. Pups are very clear, bright-ish, balanced, and delightful. HB is excellent and blends well with single coils. Wonderfully built, nice neck shape, stays in tune, solid trem system...nothing to dislike except the brass inlays are hard to see...so I ordered some nice stick-on inlays "fretlook") from Germany and they look great. Got a Tumnus Deluxe a few days ago...nice compliment.
Can't forget G&L and the S-500. I'm picking between that and a Nick Johnston currently.
The Sterling is my favorite, just because of how it looks. Stunning. And if they all sound pretty much the same, it's all about which one makes you want to play it, right?
I was disappointed with the fit and finish of the Cutlass I received. Maybe it was a fluke, but I didn't keep it or try another.
That grey silver sky is just so pretty
Holy shit. Lee described my exact process at the start of this video. He's good.
just bought a player plus, had it pleked before delivery and it is the only strat i will ever need.
The neck on that cutlass is amazing
G&L Legacy HSS comes to mind as well. A bit on the cheaper side of the list, but a great axe. for the $
Loved the intro jam
Love from India ❤️
Good on ya Lee for the blindfold idea! This really showcases how guitarists play guitar with their eyes and will diludelet the sight and ideas of things inflate the experience more than what it is in essence. When an instrument really melds with you, doesn't feel resistant to your expression, and the sound pleases you every time you play is all that matters. If you pick up a Fender or a Gibson custom shop and hate it, then nothing about it's looks, quality, or any other good aspect that the guitar objectively has as a product realistically matters. If you never play a guitar that makes you happy you won't ever associate with guitars. If someone or something always makes you happy you'll never let it go, or stop putting time into it/them. A guitars looks wears and fades, a person's looks changes and degrades, but finding happiness in what you care about is will be an everlasting joy to have through the decades.
Great video. I think the Chapman guitar sounded the best. Great pickups. After that Fender and then the Pacifica. The rest no go for me soundvice.
Would be great to hear some Suhr Strats in another video 🤘🤘
I considered the Chapman that Lee is holding at the start in the green colour that they do then tried the HSS Sterling Musicman and bought that instead. The colour I chose was Firemist Silver. I might still go for the Chapman since its my birthday in a couple of weeks.
I did go for the Chapman in the green colour
Hi Lee, Pete! Since Pete sees all options and hear all - it's quite easy to detect them blindness... I prefer vids you started with Rob or someone was blibd from the beginning
I love how there always seems to be a reference to "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" in Strat videos, however large or small.
Anderson’s make some of the best gear videos online. To be fair they got to be close to the best. Well done Anderson’s. The Anderson Silva of the gear world.
I’m biased as I own a Schecter Nick Johnson, but they really are amazing guitars. I thought the Chapman sounded great too.
I Love Sterling Cutlass ♥️
Fender sounds the best for me ❤ but the yamaha's bridge pickup sounds great too !
Shouldve threw a Charvel in there! Charvels are crazy good for the price. So many great modern options at a super affordable price.
Certain PRS Buckers split really nice.
My more modern S-Type is a Reverend Six Shot TL. It fits almost all the criteria that Lee laid down except for the T-type pick up in the bridge.
the ibanez azs in my opinion are also an amazing option.
You need to try a set of yjm fury pickups in a strat.
Game changer 🙌
The Nick Johnson is the one I've got my eyes on, over here - it suits so many different styles of playing.
I have one and they are the jack of all trades
@@metalliholic Suit's me I do tv ads and Soundtracks... Thanks! Pete.
Really liking the Spire at the moment but the Ibanez AZ is a great S style, i generally play RG or a Charvelle Superstrat but those Musicmans are also very good - those Seymour Duncans in the Burgundy Sterling would be great
Played an Ibanez AZ premium in Andertons and very nearly bought it. I'd gone in to try a PRS S2 Vela Satin which was lightweight and beautifully made but somewhat underwhelming tone wise. The Ibanez was a great feeling and great sounding guitar, but, £1200 so it should be. The Hyperion Seymour Duncan pickups were superb.
@@talkychris I’ve got a Ibanez AZ premium, one of the previous runs where they were still offering it with a baked maple neck, and it’s so good, such a great playing guitar. The neck is stunning. The only problem is that the pickups need a good, powerful amp to really sing, on a bedroom amp they’re just good for really glassy cleans.
@@bobajob13 I would recommend a Blackstar HT5 head. It is a tube amp with 5watts but you can select 0.5watt output. That allows you to drive it nice and hard and get it breaking up without ridiculous volume levels for home playing. When it is late I use Boss Waza Air headphones. I highly recommend both. I run my head through a PRS Tremonti 1x12 cabinet. This amp is great and very versatile. That cabinet is well made too.
The Yamaha Pacifica is my choice followed by the Fender.
My Nick Johnston HSS will be arriving tomorrow. \o/
"This feels pink" 🤣🤣🤣 you got me there Pete
I am in love with my pacifica 612 iiv.
You guys need to do more on music man guitars. I don’t know much about them?!
No AZ?
It's pretty great what you can buy in this price range these days. The Pacifica was my least favorite sound because I heard some nasty ringing when Lee was playing it. It was still brighter when Pete played it, but the first impression was so bad. The stacked coils in the Chapman made it darker, and the Schecter was a little darker. The rest all basically sounded similar (not identical) to me.
lee’s lead playing has gotten so good
Obviously the chapman - looks the best by miles and they are amazing build quality. Get one.
Please do a Review of the new slightly affordable charvel gg san dimas with the burst cause we haven’t heard it much @andertons
Would this be the same as 5 s super strats? Or is that an idea for a different video
You can Definitely tell Differences when Blind folded that will Make You Think Twice 👍👍🎶🎶🎸
Easter Sunday sitting and watching Andertons TV while eating chocolate, what more could one ask for.
Surely, the most important thing here is not whether he could guess which is which, but rather which ones feel nicest.
Waiting for the Sire vs Silver Sky SE shootout ...
Do the same thing with teles, please.
There is an epic deal on that Chapman at the moment - £350!!
I liked the one with six strings.
The Captain Cooks! 🤩
Could you please review Shijie TLV and STE?
Would love you guys make the same video with Les Paul variants (ex: Gibson, Epiphone, Tokai, Sire, Harley Benton) 🙏❤️
Harley benton is a brand that Thomann in Germany owns. I doubt that Andertons would have any interest in a demonstration of a guitar that is only available through Thomann.
Jet JS400. Cracking guitar in this style and just £160!
Looks like a cracking guitar for the price point!
@@kingcal53 they punch well above their weight!
I think you might like Vintage V6 guitar.
The options make all these so limiting, you will either modify or swap up. The color combinations alone are frustrating. Yeah, I'm Kiesel guy. Love the Captain and Pete !!!
I have the Yamaha 612. No need to swap out anything, the Seymour Duncan pickups are great, close to best in class (I think they sound better than Fender's player series pickups), the bridge is very high quality, has locking tuners, and satin neck. If anything, you could technically put in better string trees, but they're already graphtech and works just fine.
Couple of months back I was looking to buy my first s type guitar. Originally I had saved up for a strat, but then I was recommended the Nick Johnston Schecter and pretty much played, sounded better (imo) and almost half the price of the Stratocaster I was looking at. Amazing guitar
That's exactly what happened to me. I wanted to get an American Strat but couldn't really swing it. Then I was going to get the Fender Player Strat but I was recommended the Nick Johnston. It truly is just a whole lot better of a Strat than the Player series. And it's just a great guitar in its own right. Love the jumbo frets and I love the fretboard radius.
Here is Aus the Schecter is $300 AUD more than the Fender Strat player plus, i wonder if it's worth it maybe not i am leaning towards the fender, maybe it depends on where you live price wise
I kind of enjoyed the Fender
I wish there was a Charvel in the mix.
Those things are (chef's kiss)
ohh yea, that would have been nice.
Those are not in the same price range as the other strats shown.
We need rig updates for Pete and caps personnel use
For me the Music Man won the intro jam hands down
The Pacifica is a no brainer. The 612 is even better than PRS SE’s.
Would have been nice to have a Godin session in there!?
Yamaha Pacifica 612 or Silver Sky SE
Should have the Charvel DK24 too
No ibanez AZ and suhr?
I really like the blindfold videos. However, I think it would be better if Pete didn't see the guitars beforehand. If you know what you've got, it's easier to find small details to tell them apart, which you wouldn't think of otherwise.
Can we all just take a moment to appreciate the flame on the Chapman?!
The Pacifica is by far the best. You cannot get anything better for that money.
How did I know talking about inches would get Pete laughing? 😂
The control layout on the Chapman would throw me off for months.
My favorite is a lesPaul...
I want the Yamaha to be good because it's gorgeous.
that Schecter tho
Is there any way to determine which fenders are 12 in radius instead of the standard 9.5?
What does hybrid mean on the chapman
The Nick Johnson Schecter is the nicest guitar
Come on Cap REP YOUR BRAND! You seem almost afraid to talk about that Chapman. That is a beautiful guitar and when Pete was playing there was a moment where you could see him getting lost in the enjoyment of playing a fine instrument. But then when he found out it was a Chapman because of that switch position it seemed like he didn't even want to comment on it. Where is Rob when you need him. REP Your brand bro! Loud and proud. They ARE something to be proud of.
I'd say it's between the Schecter and the Chapman
I got the Sterling a while ago. Probably the lowest price of all. I like it better than my old Fender Highway One Strat.
It's subjective, play what feels good. Don't worry about the name. If you have 3/64" at the 12 fret, it's great.
👀 Can Danish Peter and El Capitano do a Telecaster special pretty please?? 🙏
I can't tell if its me or not but I'm getting some heavy compression breathing in Andertons videos as of late.
