I haven't even finished the review video yet but wanted to toss out a few things. I ordered 2 knives after seeing MC's first unboxing video. It took a little longer to get them than initially expected but they were very open with this when the delay happened. (Partly due to all the orders after MC's first video ha...) I was lucky enough to meet and talk with both of the Hardisty brothers at a custom knife show. Both extremely nice guys and were just as open in person with questions/answers as they seem in this video. They even suggested I modify one of my knife color selections based on how anodizing for the handle turned out. I have since received both knives and am really impressed with them. Fit and finish is great and they fit my XXL hands very well. I don't have a dog in the hunt as folks like to say, I'm not an investor or personal friend, just a very satisfied customer. For $400 you get a hell of a nice knife.
I’ve bought two. They are unusual looking if compared to main stream knives. But this ain’t main stream. It’s extremely well made. They offer laser engraving and anodized clips as part of the price. It’s extraordinary sharp so be aware. Company owner is hands on and very easy to talk with. Support this company so I can keep buying his amazing unique pieces of pocket art
As someone who prides himself in supporting USA-made knives that bridge the gap between budget and mid-range tiers...this is a grail knife for me. Way out of my usual price range, but they sound very worth supporting. No extra charge for fully customizing according to their website! Get out of here!
Nice review, MC! And how awesome - it’s a 100% USA company. They created their own design and manufactured it. It’s definitely unique! And I believe it’s a true passion to make it to the best of their ability!
Love the transparency! The fact that they are willing to share that info leads me to believe it’s probably true. $400 for this knife is a crazy good value. Handle & blade are an interesting combination like you mentioned. A taller blade would improve the aesthetic quite a bit. It would look great with a Persian style blade as well. I’m sure with the designer being an engineer he will take your feedback seriously. You handle far more knives than 99.9% of us. Excited to see what they put out in the future as well. Definitely going to check out their website!
Follow Up: looking at their website they do have another blade shape and it looks like they are increasing the blade length from 3.5” to 3.69” along with moving the choil forward slightly. Their 2nd knife CLK-2D will also include thumb studs and is priced slightly higher at $485. Currently doing preorders that expect to ship in March of ‘23.
These look suuuuper nice, I'm not totally in love with the bladeshape. Excited to see what their next model will be, I'm sure these will be a huge sucess.
I love the all USA sourced and manufactured aspect. This first model kind of makes me think of if you mashed together a Benchmade 940 or Contego with a Malibu. Don't know yet how I feel about this model, but I appreciate it for what it is and will be watching this company in the future! I hadn't heard anything about them somehow, so thanks for sharing, MC!
I grabbed one after your last video on it. I got the drop point version. It took a few weeks but worth it. A little milling of the scales would be nice but that is nitpicky. I am very happy with mine. These are a bargain right now. Get one before they go up in price, or stop making them.
I like how you're pressing companies further for specific information. It makes it way harder for them to be slippery and leave statements open to interpretation.
I'm so happy you received and reviewed this piece. 10:35 Haha I mentioned that in my review too. They have a lot of cool stuff coming so go check them out!
Do you remember the old Emerson spec war blades? This for some reason instantly reminded me of those. Lol. I will keep an eye on this company for sure.
I can't say I like the esthetic of the knife it is great seeing another US maker putting out some different stuff. I'll be keeping an eye on these guys, it would be cool to get a great knife from another Hoosier.
I got mine! I think it is amazing. One issue, you can catch your finger on the blade tip when closed. If the clip point angled down a little more it wouldn't be an issue. The cutting edge would be about 0.1 inch less
The clip is reversible for left hand carry, but currently there is no true left hand version with the button on the other side. Definitely something we may consider in the near future!
@@rosshardisty7622 Hey thank you for the kind response. Had to check your site before I commented the 1st time. While appreciated it's just not the same. Can't tell you how many knives I haven't bought for lack of a true lefty or true ambi option. Lemme know! Cheers.
@@JohnsonBuck FYI, we are working on a new batch right now, and plan to make a few of every model in true left-hand carry (button lock on opposite side). They will be available in March!
@@rosshardisty7622 Oh man you're really on top of things. Thank you for showing some love to the left hands out there. I will be keeping a close eye next month. Thanks again.
It's really disappointing when you get an expensive American made knife and the grinds are worse than a budget Chinese made knife. It looks really cool, the ratios are the only thing that are really off putting to me aesthetically and personally that's a huge deal for me.
This made me kinda sad. Feels almost like you are off your game MC since the recent debacle. I think all of us understand that you do your best with what you are told. I do appreciate the digging you did mind you.
metal_complex, I do agree with your comments about the knife it is a little odd, but it is from what I can see a very well put together knife and I like color fade. Cool knife 💯💯

Oh, I'm not a huge fan of the tanto path, so both of mine are drop points.
Amazing how a little transparency by a manufacturer can make things so pleasant…not like those “other” guys. Thanks MC!

Good lord NO. Persian blades are fucking AWFUL

Did you see the pre-order for March with the thumbstud?
I'm in.

This knife looks like its out of a video game like halo or something but i like it. Has an elegance to it yet practical.

They jave a drop point version for $400 as well and a new version with a preorder. The drop point looks amazing
I have two of these in my collection.
Slate Grey/Electric Blue SN0038
Fuel Slick/Electric Blue SN0043
Only 100 ever made 1st Gen
Do you remember the old Emerson spec war blades? This for some reason instantly reminded me of those. Lol. I will keep an eye on this company for sure.
This handle design would look amazing with a Persian blade!
Exactly how I feel!
That could be interesting! We’ll see what we can do 😃

MC you are hilarious but also correct about the design.
I really like it just with a drop point
They have a DP available on their website.
I know is there some kind of prize for it?
Darn you! I went and ordered the CLK-1D.
Thanks for the support! We hope you’ll be very pleased with your order.

4:08. It was the Royal "we." It's all good.
They should've etched "Right?". Right?
This knife is bad ass ! I’m in…
I agree with the blade handle assessment. It looks too much like an OTF.
Not a fan of flipper tabs or buttons on knives. And still if they offered a lefty I might actually be game for this one. Beautiful work.

Hello MC, if we have some knives to offer to loan you for a review, then how do we get in touch with you?
Love it!!!❤
Damn. I really want to order one but can't afford it until my new job starts.
Nice American made knife
Can it be swung open using only the button lock?
Yes it can!
The way that the spine of the blade sits below the top line of the handle gives me OTF vibes.
I agree.
I would really like to have one..
Crazy!

has some osborne 940 echos.
You're my boy blue!
This made me kinda sad. Feels almost like you are off your game MC since the recent debacle. I think all of us understand that you do your best with what you are told. I do appreciate the digging you did mind you.
WOW.
I like the blade and handle combo. feels medieval. less persian, more english. haha probably not accurate.
Wait.. You telling us you don't break down pallets and firewood in your garage, when testing pocket knives? Outrageous 🤣😆
Beautiful knife, not too practical but who cares about practicality. 👌
But where is the lanyard hole? I dont, I dont like it. I need my rope. Its gonna get stuck in my pocket, I dont like it.
I just want to say…. Almost every single thing you complained about they changed in their new model
"OK USA!"
Whenever I see tanto blades I think "wow, I bet that's a bitch to sharpen".
Why do people say first?
It’s cool bro
“Sourced.” That’s as obvious as “we don’t sell your information”. 😂 I’m sure the manufacturer is going to OR had commented already.
Not sure if I follow. Feel free to ask anything about these knives!
Hard pass
Y would they ruin that beautiful blades with that stupid billboarded logo??!😩
Please stop dragging your fingernail on the edge on camera! It's like fingernails on chalkboard X100! So cringy it may get me to unsub some day.

Looks o.t.f. ishy
