As long as they don’t lose the sporty look and handling! Now that I’m almost finished the build out, I’m not sure they could improve much other than maybe a larger tank 😂
Bike is looking good, thanks for posting. I have the same one still new. I'd like to follow your upgrades and want to start with the mirrors. Did you get yours from KTM Powerparts? Thanks.
Hello i'm a french guy thx for you video. Can you tell me how much width it is in total at the back? Is it wider than the handlebars? Sorry for my bad English but in France no video on this product exists :/
MANNNNNNNN where were you when i bought my 890 R? I went ahead and got the Ventura Bike Rack system. (soft tailbag), but i really wanted a thorough review of these bags. You did an amazing job reviewing these. i *ALMOST* want to get these bags as well as the tailbag so i can load up my camping gear + passenger and hit the mountains. I was really worried about space of these bags though, so I'm glad i did buy the tailbag, which is 40L and holds all my camping gear.
Thank you! 🙂 They’ve been working out great for me. I have done a few weekend trips, as well as an eight day long solo camping trip and so far so good!
Finally a video about these bags, thanks for that. I got told that they are rated for 120 kms per hour. Will they fly off at around 150 kms per hour? Does the bike still run stable at speeds?
No they don’t fly off at those speeds, But they do reduce the overall aerodynamics of the motorcycle. I find the bike still rides quite stable with them on, but I tend to drive a little more conservatively when in touring mode. How do you have them loaded with weight will also make a slight difference.
Hi there Can you use a "left bag" on the right side as well? I have austin racing exhausts and don't need that curved right bag (just hope the bar underseat won't go in yhr way of the pipes) Thanks!
@@pavechaser thanks for your fast reply. I was also concerned that the frame won't fit... Awesome videos and trip btw - want so bad to get my 890Duke ready and go on road trips
Yes, they have performed very well for me on bumpy roads and off roads as well. I also “likely” over exceeded their weight limit by a significant amount 😂 and they still work like a charm!
Thanks for the review, as I was interested but found them quite expensive, and you've confirmed what I thought. 😀 I have the same idea to use it as a sport touring bike, as I used my previous, a 690, to do trips of 5.000 km round trip and similar. With SW Motech equipment and the KTM topcase (also SW Motech but with KTM brand), I was able to have even more gear than with my touring cruiser, a Victory Vision. With the 890 R, it's more complicated due to the exhaust, so I decided for only one bag on the left side, the SW Motech from my 690, and an ad hoc huge bag instead of the back seat on an also ad hoc support to subsitute the back seat. That's for long trips, but to ride around I will fit the KTM top case from my 690 on the passenger seat rack. And a fairing, the Carenabris from Puig. :-) I also bought it with the hand heating and the cruise control.
I love your video. I was wondering what brand and model jacket your wearing. Also I can’t find that exact model tank bag. I found the pro but not the evo engage. Any help would be appreciated
Thanks! It’s a KTM Powerwear jacket. Not sure of the exact model, but it says RN 119315 on it. As for the tankbag, I don’t believe they make it anymore unfortunately. Everywhere I look, it seems to be sold out :/
I bought the same bags and was super impressed with the little locks too, really nice touch. Unfortunately i haven't used the bags yet cause I broke my arm a week before I was due to go on a trip! It'll be next season now, but they're really nice and really suit the bike.
Thanks Sir. Perfect vid. I just Bought the same bike. I have the matching tail bag. I will be buying these saddle bags. Bought a tall tank bag system & you might consider this too. Lots of space with options and great price. Tour Master Elite Strap Mount Tri-Bag Motorcycle Tank Bag - Black /...
I’m just curious if you know what aftermarket exhaust would fit with these bags? I know the ktm parts website say Akrapovic will not fit with the saddle bags, but I can’t seem to find what exhaust would!
I’m not aware of any… the heat shield built into the right bag is pretty much moulded to fit the stock exhaust perfectly. (I’ve not looked into it much though as I have never had any intention of changing the exhaust) Good luck with your search! 🙂
Nice videos of the duke you have. I have a question about this part. Do you know if it's possible to install the bags with a short license plate holder?
Hi Patrick, I will be posting a video soon with some "in action" shots showing behind the bike with the bags on. Also, my Instagram page has some photos from behind as well which can be seen at @pavechaser - hope that helps! :)
Great video, I've been thinking about an 890 Duke R and would want the panniers as well. Installation looks super simple. Curious as to how many kms you can get from a tank of gas.
Thanks! If on the highway cruising at average 115-120km/hr, it seems to get around 250 kms per tank. (About 4.5 - 4.8 L / 100km). On back roads averaging 85 kms/hr it jumps to about 3.5 L /100kms so about 325-350 kms ish. It has a 14 litre tank.
@@pavechaser Thanks. It was the 14L tank was giving me some hesitation. I'm in Calgary and sometimes we have to go a long way to get to the good riding. I could probably find a way to carry an extra litre or 2 on long trips if need be.
@@DavidD-uo7kl yea I hear ya - I’m currently working on some ideas for additional fuel storage (and will have some videos posted on my “solutions” as I work them out)!🙂
I’ve a 21 model 890 Duke also. I can get close to 280km range on the open Highway’s , but in the twisties or back roads , I can guarantee this reduces significantly.. mainly because these bikes are so fantastically unbelievable to ride , you are constantly on the gas pushing it harder than you probably should. If you can ride them within the limits and easy on the throttle , then they are surprisingly very economical, but good luck with that !
Apparently KTM are working on another version of the 890 Duke with a slight touring bias - hopefully like a smaller version of the 1290GT🤞
As long as they don’t lose the sporty look and handling! Now that I’m almost finished the build out, I’m not sure they could improve much other than maybe a larger tank 😂
I wish they do smth like this to 690 smcr/enduro. Although the tail of bike is not designed to accommodate the bags like this

Yes, these are the KTM power parts bags - I ordered them from my local KTM dealer
Great video. I have the bags and liked them, but had to take them off to install a fender eliminator.
Thanks!
Ah I see… I have plans for my fender so I’ll be keeping it for the time being :)

Hi, great video mate. Quick question, will it be the same for the 790 duke 2023?
Thanks! You would have to confirm with KTM, but I’m pretty sure it’s the same part numbers for 2018 - 2023 duke

hey mate, sorry to bother you, when you bought it, it came with two bags or just one bag? i want to buy it for my ktm 790 duke
@@pokekai4473 no stress dude, I believe there are two kites from ktm, one is both bags, the other kit is only 1 side (non exhaust side)
DO YOU HAVE A LINK FOR THE THOSE BAGS?
I bought at local KTM dealer. The KTM website would have details.
How many liters are the bags in total?
21.5 on one side and 17 on the other for total of 38.5
Thanks Sir.
