- I decided to drive to Sapperton to video the Duchess climbing the bank out of Kemble.
Very disappointed indeed. Firstly, the train was 70 mins down as there was industrial action with signal staff in London area.
Secondly, when the train appeared it was being propelled by a 47 from the rear. It was being hurtled along at high speed in order to make up time.
No exhaust at all! Little sound as you can see in the fleeting shot I took.
The diesel seemed to be doing most of the work!
The last time I videoed the Duchess was in July with the Royal Duchy on Rattery bank in Devon, crawling along again with a 47 at the rear doing all of the work.
A long drive for nothing.
But I have uploaded the result for you to view.
Wonderful video :)
Great shot! I saw her at Cardiff Central.
Thank you
Excellent video😉👍️✨Fantastic steam train and beautiful scenery :)
Thank you very much
I’ve been told that 7812 has just passed its steam test at tyseley and they are about to move her to Kidderminster
Good shot video
Thank you
I feel for you Ger, that's just a total waste of time and money...Take care...Bob
Indeed it was Bob, I did think about deleting the clip but thought I would share it. Never mind you win some & loose some! Geraint
@@caerphillycastle Hi Geriant , Edmund here, Thanks for posting ,at least I know how you feel ! Yes very disappointing i view of the nice lighting . The thing is , with such a light load ,6233 would have been able to do that speed by herself . I feel as I said at the time I think they were conserving water as as far I could see they did,nt have any more water stops before Cardiff . Never mind good to meet up ,lets hope next time its more rewarding . Cheers Edmund
@@edmundbrain456 Hi Edmund, Thanks for your message. It was good to meet up at Sapperton. Enjoyed waiting but when the train appeared it was so disappointing.
Never mind an expensive day out! You win some & loose some. Take care, hope to see you next year. Geraint
