When Hader cracked though he quickly recovered and could do the rest of the sketch in character. Jimmy would break and just laugh through the whole sketch and kind of ruin it.
Got to love how they treat Lorne like this mythical figure. that: "Oh sh*t, I just did an impression of a guy who hasnt been my boss for years" moment.
bill hader: "oh no i just did a lorne michaels impression on tv!" mike myers: *makes his lorne michaels impression the main villain of the austin powers trilogy*
Hey Oswaldo, why don't you get outta here? Get on the 101, take the Van Nuys offramp to skip the interchange, take Sepulveda down to the 10, and go back to Sawtelle where you BELAWNG.
Meyers is a better host than Fallon. Or maybe I just like him inviting all his SNL friends and they just share stories. Either way, I like how he at least tries to find out about his guest first regardless of how popular they are
nope...Jimmy doesn't sound like that (at least not any more), I agree with Joshua it sounds more like Justin's impression of Jimmy that he did on Family Feud on SNL lol
I think Fallon's great. He's just a very very positive guy. Some people aren't into that and that's cool. All I know is his show is #1 in ratings every single night. He beats out Kimmel, Corden, Myers, Conan, Colbert, and everybody else every single night. So obviously he's doing something right lol
Bill Hader is one of my favorites on SNL because he's always laughing. One of my favorite things of life is to watch someone try not to laugh but not be able to help it - LOVE it! :)
@Maureen Mendoza I get it - I live in LA! The hilarious thing is if you really listen, a lot of the places they mention aren't even near each other. LOL!!!
I am Spanish and I lived in California around 2012-2013, the time when SNL was airing "The Californians". The accents might have been exaggerated but the fact that half the time people discusses how to get places by car was completely accurate.
"California" is my go to SNL sketch when I'm down. It absolutely brings up my spirits. Thanks Bill, Fred, and cast! I like to practice random acts of silliness daily. ❤
I went to visit family in Southern California a few years ago (my mom is from there) and every single time we left the house or the hotel, my aunt, uncle, and cousin would have an argument over the easiest way to get to our destination...and they sounded exactly like they do in this skit 😂
It's funny how their laugh is like...well not weird but funny in a way. Bill laughs first then Seth laughs right after him then they both come to an end laughing when Hader laughs so hard he almost couldn't breathe.
I just watched Bill's first ever interview (on Conan in '05) and he was such a nervous wreck- though still hilarious- and look at him now. Patience and practice, man.
Hader probably has an impression of every writer and cast member of SNL he has ever met. Too bad we probably wont see 80% of his best impressions, since they are people he knows or are important people who might get mad.
One of my favorite interviews was where Hader was on Conan and explained that a lot of the SNL cast do impressions of each other (in general, I feel that the group consisting of Hader, Wiig, Fred Armisen, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis, Maya Rudolph, Will Forte and Seth Meyers are all pretty close since they’re always popping up in each other’s projects, hence why they all do impressions of each other)
Eileen S I'm following you. That, or I show support for the vids I like with a comment, which adds to their ad revenue, and encourages them to keep posting the vids we all enjoy. One or the other. Let your narcissism be your guide. **retreats into the bushes behind her house**
is uncany how bill hader can morph his voice and is so unreal how he can enjoy every angle of common life as an oportunity for comedy to enlight us.. is admirable
this is such a small thing but you can just tell how quick hader's conversational improv is when he responds "oh good" right away and THEN laughs hysterically at seths comment 😂😂 his brain can respond seamlessly before even fully registering what was said 2:27
Imagine getting to work with all these writers and name drop so casually, and just having the best time and running inside jokes. Those meetings must’ve been gold. They look like they have so much fun.
Oh my god. I literally woke up last night after having a strange dream where the Californians slipped into what started as a serious situation. ... I had fallen asleep with UA-cam open and it must have seeped into my dreams. You ever had that happen? Weird. Anyway, I JUST NOW said "I wonder wtf the origins are of that sketch?" as I went to UA-cam and saw this as may #2 recommendation . I don't know whether to thank UA-cam's recommendation algorithm, or if I should fear the sketch itself.. MUST. WATCH!
One of my favorites as the routings they gave were real. Not once did I see an impossible route. In my 10 years in LA, I learned all of these and drove them many times long before these sketches were done. Though I never heard anyone sober talk that way.
Is it even a Californian sketch if no one breaks? HA! Nope! And yes, as a native Californian, everything in these sketches is true. Everything. We talk about streets and getting to places and traffic and have a love for putting sun dried tomatoes in clay bowls and eating real California avocados.
"Well I laugh through every freaking sketch."
Self-awareness level: Bill Hader
Its a shame all these likes and no comment. Would be a shame if someone... Commented

but like it comes with the territory, they ALL have a Lorne impression, they’re on SNL you cant not
I dunno, he has his fingers in so many pies, he may have still been his boss in some way
Once you’re on SNL Lorne has huge influence on your career
The Please Don't Destroy guys were just on Fallon and were legit terrified they might accidentally do a Lorne impression.
That Jimmy Fallon in the end haaaahahahahahahaha
He nailed it
so crazy
That was actually a combo of justin timberlake's jimmy impression and andy Samberg's impression of jimmy. But still, lol!
every so slightly dappled shade, and I'm here for it.
