Me too. Can’t beat the long days of summer. The camp shoes are really great. I thought them from REI about three years ago. Really light and really warm. The soles don’t have a tread so slippery on the snow.
I got that pack for my husband. Truth be told I love that pack and use it for winter camping. Surprisingly comfortable and holds the gear nicely. Doesn’t squeak which is also a plus.
I agree. This is my new winter pack for sure. I haven’t use a pack like this in almost 5 years but I needed something with more volume and weight capacity. And it helps I got it for 80% off this past summer. I love it. I do have to pack it differently than I do my other packs but I got over the at. Very comfortable pack. My only wish for it is for a bigger back pocket. But it is still large. Great pack.
Damn that's cold. That white jacket looks dope. You look like the snow skiing GI Joe figurine I used to have 😂 Pack looks solid. The dual booties look handy. I love the OR Aerogel slippers. Lately I haven't been watching much backpacking videos but always tune in to yours right away. Great video. I would really like to backpack in the snow one day.
I just got that jacket a couple months ago. My old one was gortex but was more than 15 years old. This one is the Allies Microgravity Jacket Multicam from Outdoor Research. It isn’t gortex but something similar and still waterproof and wind proof. 3 layer. Love it. Those booties are great for cold weather camp shoes. I wonder how cold they will go. I’m the same. I’ve only been watching a few channels, including yours.
Always better to have too much heat than not enough! I have Dakota’s booties, the Baffins, and enjoy them. I heard a mini-chainsaw is good for these kind of trips. May need to be careful for fear of loss of limb however 😅 Sweet scenery Dan!
I agree unless it makes you sweat. That wouldn’t be good. I saw a few mini chain saws. Definitely would be much easier. Tough to carry though. lol. Having camp booties are great. I need to figure out a way to add a little tread to mine. Pretty slippery in the snow.
@ just bring either a shovel or blow torch to clear camp, you’re good. 👍 I’d totally split the weight of chainsaw! or throw the extra battery in your hiking mate’s pack when they’re not looking. Miyagi makes friends that way.
That’s some real winter backpacking there. Really enjoyed the video. Where did you all end up eating? Backpacking with Jason turned me onto your channel.
@@JeremiahStringer Thanks! I’m a long time subscriber of yours. Welcome. We ended up eating at a Perkins. Kind of like a chain diner. Really good steak and eggs. Great end to a cold trip.
There are a couple for RB Winter SP trails in AllTrails which helps a lot. Dakota has done this many times so he was the navigator for this one. The only deviation was we left the SP and jumped on the Mid-State trail to camp.
Thanks! It was pretty pricy. It’s the Allies Microgravity Jacket. It’s not gortex but it is 3 layer and waterproof. I really like it. The price was pretty strap but I got for 60% off on a sale. But I don’t see it on their site any longer.
Thanks! Winter it depends on the trip and temps. Sometimes I take more fun stuff or gear for cooking real food and sometimes I don’t. My pack weight for an overnight trip in warm weather is about 16 pounds with food and water. Winter (really cold) I’m in the 40lb range total pack weight. But it depends on the temps. Last winter I did a couple trip in February and I brought my summer gear. This trip I was close to 40lbs.
Quarter til 6 and it’s completely dark 😂 I hate the time change.
I like those camp shoes.
Nice trip and gear 👍🏻👍🏻

Awesome
Thank you!
Looks like you guys had a good trip.
Great trip with great weather. The wind was a little tough because it kept blowing the smoke from the fire in my face no matter where i sat. Lol.

@@backpackingadventures4813sounds like a blast 🎉
I had the hardest time trying to figure the trails and connections when I went so I'm excited to see this route!

Greetings. Thanks for the fireside chat. Is your gore tex jacket expensive?

Great video, as always. Just curious: What's your pack weight for a winter trip vs summer?
