- It's a HUGE surprise for the kids! We have special visitors and they come bearing gifts for the kids. A trip to the psychiatrist hopefully helps Abbie's sleep and anxiety. The idea is to treat the sleeping issues with hopes it helps her to better regulate the rest of her day.

When you said say bye and then she made that sound...that made me 😱 it just sounded so similar even though I know it wasn't her speaking, but wow that was close!! Beyond that, how amazing and special those gifts were and that guy can rock! ❤💙

It’s amazing the difference it makes in a child when they have a person of influence (teacher, school, family) that actually cares about them and wants them to further themselves as much to their abilities as they can.
The craftsmanship of Mr. Pettway's guitars is amazing! Making her own music clearly delighted Abbie. Asa,asking for help is a sign of strength. Switching from Klonopin to Benadryl allows many folks to get more sleep.
None of that worked for me. I am on Clonidine which is technically a blood pressure medication. It's the only one that's helped my anxiety, I don't have autism, I have bi polar, epilepsy, chronic anxiety and panic attacks. When I was a kid they thought I had ADHD and those were the years of Ridalin. They don't use that anymore, and I don't have ADHD any how.
Lol salmon. That is so awesome that they made those guitars and brought them all the way from Kentucky! Guitars are probably the best instrument... behind the drums. Awesome shoes, awesome tattoos, awesome donations, just so much awesomeness in this vlog!

The way I see it. Asking for help when you need it for Abby is loving her. Especially since she can't tell you what's wrong. All of you are doing an AMAZING AWESOME job with Abby.

Oh I wish I would have seen this last night, but I was at a wedding. What is ironic about that is the daughter of the bride has autism and there were several other autistic people there. I absolutely had a blast watching them party and have fun. They sang, danced and made me cry. I wish I had the inhibitions they have, not a care in the world and no fear. On another note Isaiah is going to have a last rocking out on the guitar. That is such an awesome gift. Looks like Abbie was having a great time dancing when your guest was playing the guitar. Enjoy them.

They are even more special because they were intentionally made for them. Maybe Abbie may also be able to learn guitar along with Isaiah. It might be worth a try. Who knows?

I think this is wonderful! I have read so many stories about how beneficial music is for people with Autism. Maybe Abbie can't talk, but that does not mean she can not learn how to play the guitar. It is possible. Even if she doesn't though it is a gift she will treasure for years to come. I also wanted to tell you I love Abbie's new sheet set. Awesome Dading Asa!

So I may not have autism, but as someone who struggles with anxiety and sleep problems, I want to tell you that medication can be helpful. I understand not wanting it, because of side effects and such, but a good nights rest can make you feel insanely better. So I am sure it could help Abby. Also anxiety is tough, most don’t realize how it can really make the day difficult. Sometimes something as hydroxyzine can really help take the edge off.Medication has changed my life along with DBT, and therapy. I know Abby and I are different, but I want to tell you from someone who struggles with sleep and anxiety, medication makes me feel better. Love and light, to you and yours!

I think Abbie really likes it. Isaiah's is very pretty blue.💙 I was sad when he thought his gift was a joke/he thought it would be empty.😥I have autism. Growing up my sister had more responsibilities and less focus. I respect my sister for who she is and love her very much. I can see the love Abbie has for her brother Isaiah. And Isaiah's love for Abbie. It is strong.💚

Fun story... Isaiah's is one I had built and it was one of my favorites. I hated to see it go, but that went away as soon as he held it and felt even more for it than I did.

My cousin that has autism recently started using a weighted blanket to sleep better and has gotten some good results! He sleeps much better with it☺️

Hydroxyzine saved my life. I’m 25 years old with autism and was prescribed it two years ago. I had a lot of anxiety and sleep problems. The lack of sleep made my anxiety worse and the anxiety kept me up at night, so it was a vicious cycle. I tried melatonin and every over the counter sleep med you could have. Nothing worked. I was finally prescribed hydroxyzine, which is what I’m assuming it is, and I can sleep. I still have an off night or two every now and then, but I’m so much happier and less anxious on it since it helps my sleeping.

17:53 Abbie says "bye" I had a speech disorder as a kid that people didn't understand me my mouth didn't move right. I was in speech til 3rd grade. I understand how frustrating Abbie feels when she isn't understood. It also made me sad to not be understood.
I'm glad I was able to contribute to CIAS, even though it was small, and have my nickname on the couch. It makes me feel even more a part of your MaassSquad!
