I'm going to be honest, I completely fell in love with this car. Like, I think it's the cutest little compact SUV I've ever seen--especially for a first car. Definitely getting it, thank you for the in-depth review!
If you end up getting one, please let me know how it is to own! I hope you really enjoy it. I agree that it would be a great first car. Excellent review, congrats! I'm about 98% convinced this will be my next new car. I still have some issues with the exterior design but it's growing on me. Price - value is certainly a key factor.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate that. Yeah, the styling is certainly very quirky. Of course, the car comes in other colors besides Green Apple to make it a little less quirky. However, I still felt it was an excellent car for the money overall, which is most important! Also, please make sure to leave me a like, and also consider subscribing to the channel! I accidently came across the venue while looking at several other vehicles and fell in love with it. All I wanted was a car that I could easily get in and out of and a sunroof. I bought a 2022 venue without even a test drive. I bought the trend level equivalent to the sel and I absolutely made the right decision. Here in Canada our warranty includes 3 year maintenance package.
That is awesome! I find it very funny that I mentioned in my review that it was very easy to get in and out of. Thank you for confirming that being a real life owner of one! Hahah good for you being so confident and happy with your decision. I hope you love it for many years! I’m not sure how long my friend has a maintenance package on his Venue, or if he has one at all. However, that’s good to know that in Canada you get 3 years of maintenance included. Also, if you enjoyed the video, please don’t forget to leave me a like, and consider subscribing to the channel as well! It really helps me out to grow, and I sincerely appreciate it. @@cooper7031 not at all. We’ve had innumerable problems with Hyundai here and no car enthusiasts buy them here. A mechanic was just telling me how he bemoans people bringing them in. The people who buy them? The ones that go in and buy cars by looks or because they got in them easily… and didn’t bother with a test drive - let alone serious research. At least the company killing theta engine is gone as of 2022.
I bought the 2020 Venue in April of the same year. I hadn't owned a car in nearly 15 years as I had been living in NYC and then Chicago and had no need for one. When I finally broke down and bought this car brand new four years ago, it felt like I was driving a spaceship because it had so many features that I hadn't experienced since owning a car so many years ago. And now, four years later, I still LOVE my 2020 Venue. I have the six speed manual and it's very fun to drive. Of course living in the city, I just finally broke 14,000 miles on a four year old car. I don't drive much. But in a busy city with tight spaces, this car is amazing!
I’m so glad that you love your Venue! That’s very cool that you have a manual transmission version too. I find that concept SO funny that it felt like an absolute spaceship to you compared to economy cars of 15-20 years ago. I can totally imagine the shock of the fact that you don’t have a tape player in your car anymore hahahah. I picture a late 90’s Hyundai or Kia for instance, and I think WOW! No matter what your brand preference is, modern cars have certainly come a very, very long way. And even though you don’t drive it that much, I’m sure it’s extremely easy to park in tight spaces living in the city. Honestly, I think it’s one of the best modern cars you can get for a big city dweller! Cheap, decent on gas, fun to drive with the manual, and easy to park! Nonetheless, thanks for sharing, and I sincerely hope you enjoyed the review video! If you did, please make sure to leave me a like, and also consider subscribing to the channel! Hi, Chicago Jake! Thanks for all your fine work on Venue Drivers. Shame, you've used up your warranty in so few miles. OTH you get the best Pizza and The Art Museum of Chicago.😊
I just bought the SEL in Shimmering Silver that's due for delivery in about 3 wks, and after watching this video I'm even more glad that I did! My previous two vehicles were both Hyundai Elantras, can't beat their warranty, and never had an issue with either to ever even use it. Hyundai is proof that all other vehicles in their class are just, well, over-priced! 🤑
Congrats! I hope you love it! Yes, Hyundai has certainly proven themselves over the last few years. I thoroughly enjoyed this car for what it was. I felt like it was not a very cheap feeling car, yet also had the best brand new car price we could find! Thanks for checking out the video as well. duuuuddddeeee ! this is a great review. Plenty of things no one else is mentioning. Thanks for giving this tiny affordable car the attention it needs (we all need to throw more light on cheaper cars). Subbed

Honestly, I saw someone driving this car, and it looks so pretty in person I fell in love instantly. Considering this to be my first car. I just got my license a week ago lmao
Congrats on the license! Please drive carefully, especially while you're learning. 😁 It's also a great idea to keep practicing your skills, even though you already have your license. If you can, set up some cones in an empty parking lot and practice your parallel parking, 3-point turns, etc. Honing your skills, and keeping them sharp will make you an excellent driver. Have fun, and enjoy the ride. 😎 I'm sure you are super excited to experience that freedom! I think this Venue would be a great first car! The only thing is, do you really want to buy brand new? I know the market is unlike anything we've ever seen before. Used cars aren't necessarily priced as great deals, and sometimes you are better off just going with brand new if you can afford it. The best part about getting brand new or knowing that nobody abused or neglected anything on the car before you, and you also have a warranty. Hyundai offers a fantastic 10-year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty as well. The good part about going with used though is that you could potentially save a lot of money, and you're not going to be completely devastated when you get your first scratch on your car. Pros and cons though! Just make sure you do not over-buy, and make yourself car poor at such a young age. That's just my two cents anyway. Best of luck! I also appreciate you checking out my video. If you enjoyed it, please make sure to leave me a like, and also consider subscribing to my channel! It's free to you, and it really helps me out to grow, so I sincerely appreciate it. Please comment on the headlights at night, are they lighting up the path ok? I see they are just halogens, even in this SEL trim. They should be putting LED's in everything these days.
I bought this exact car in January of this year 2023. I wanted something with a good warranty, small, and comfortable enough to travel to see my kids. Im 60 and this is my daily driver. I love that it fits in parking spaces with ease. I love all the features about it. It does feel a little sluggish accelerating and going uphill. I worry this will wear the belt in time. I do not feel I made a bad choice, as this is my retirement car. I love the green color and have decked it out with Grogu. I even have a light saber on the rear wiper. I would send anything toward this car. It would make a great student car. I do not regret this purchase at all.
I’m so happy you love your Venue! Thanks for sharing. Based on everything you said, it seems like you bought a car that is a great fit for you. Yes, it certainly is slow, and probably even that much worse uphill. However, if you are not a speed demon like me, which I am going to guess you are not, I bet it is perfectly fine in 95% of the scenarios you will be in. I bet it also looks very fitting decked out with baby Yoda! Hahah I also very much hope you enjoyed the review video! I'm looking at one for my retirement car, too. I realized I have 6 years and that's time for a car to be bought and paid off. The green looks great on the website, I'm hoping it looks good when I get to actually see one. I'm a Green Arrow fan, so if I do go with green, I'm sure I'll be decking it out with some GA stuff. lol
I had to rent a car twice in two weeks as my Civic AC got fixed. I got this car twice. Loved it. Decided it was time, the civic had 160k, I drive a lot! Always had standard transmission civics, 35 years. Time for a change and no regrets. Love this car. I get up to 33 mph in the city and up to 38 on the highway. Love that it looks like a toy car!! And it is zippy
I’m glad you liked it so much! Yeah, I’ve only owned manual transmissions my entire life too, so I totally get you! Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. Yes, I saw no reason why a higher trim should have any less features than the SEL. Because of that, my friend Paul and I agreed that this SEL trim was the best bang for your buck value in the Venue line up. Thanks again for watching and commenting! I am on my second one! My 2022 SEL was T boned by a terrifying teenager and totalled. Nobody got hurt, but when the airbags deploy, the car is done. My new 2023 SEL is praetty much the same, and I'm very happy with it. First of all don't believe the EPA mileage. You'd have to be an idiot to get those figures, but idiots don't buy Venues. On any halfway normal trip I do 35-36; mostly highways closer to 40 or more. I live in a gas war zone, so my gas costs are 7-8 cents a mile. Cheaper than walking. Love the visibility. Sunroof doesn't really make a lot of sense; no good for highways, my dog is too short to stick his head out, but there it is. Now if you want a fast car, this is not for you. You will beat or stay with any 20th century econobox from a standing start. With one passenger you can comfortably climb any interstate grade. A keg run up Pike's Peak with an O line pal as passenger? Lemme know how that works out. Two average sized couples out for dinner, fine. For 90% of driving, definitely, and should be fun. Enjoy exclusivity? There isn't anything like it out there. Maybe a Mini, but that's 15k more.
Wow! I'm really glad that no one got hurt. I’m also happy you are enjoying your second Venue. Clearly that shows how much you enjoyed the car since you immediately went out and got another one. Just bought venue limited, i really like it. Gas mileage is great. Thanks for the tip on the rear storage adjustable floor, i lowered it to maximize space.
That’s awesome! I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it. I have heard that people are getting phenomenal gas mileage in these cars. Even way better than what they were rated for by the EPA. I’m also very happy to know that you learned that tip from the review! Thank you for letting me know that. It shows that my effort doesn’t go unnoticed, and people are actually learning something from these videos! I just bought one of the cars ... And I got to say great car for the money it rides well and has tons of features I have the same exact car on the video. It's worth the money without question.
Good for you! I’m very glad to hear you are happy with it. I was clearly a fan myself, and my buddy Paul is also very happy with it. Thanks for checking out the video! And that’s great! It’s all about the eye of the beholder, really. If it’s your car, and as long as you like it, that’s all that really matters at the end of the day. I still give my two cents in case people want to hear it or not. There were a few people that have commented that were not fans of this car. However, I think that was mostly based on the color. My buddy Paul was pretty much indifferent. 😅 Thanks for commenting, though! I hope you enjoyed the review video. Thanks so much! And no problem! Clearly a lot of people, including you, have appreciated a more affordable car review compared to many other more expensive cars. You are correct, there are not many of them left on the market. Please make sure you like the video and subscribe to the channel so you don’t miss the Outlander Sport review!! I am going to be honest with you though… I did not feel that the Mitsubishi was nearly as good of a car as this Venue was, especially considering the prices of both. The Mitsubishi felt much cheaper inside and out, was not as comfortable to drive, and it was more expensive at the base model price. The only thing I will say that was a plus about the Mitsubishi was the styling. It wasn’t a bad looking subcompact SUV for what it was. Other than that though, I wasn’t that impressed. I hope that’s not too disappointing you, but I would rather be as honest and accurate as I can!
I instantly liked the Venue when I started seeing reviews. The sunroof of the SEL was an instant win over the features of the Limited. LED lights are nice, but man I love a sunroof!
Yes, the SEL is the best bang for your buck trim IMO. You can't forget about the wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto either! The LED lights really did make a huge difference at night, but I have no idea why Hyundai chose to not outfit the Limited with a sunroof and the wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. That decision made absolutely no sense to my friend Paul and I when we were looking at these. Therefore, SEL seems to be the way to go! Thanks for checking out my video too. If you enjoyed it, please make sure to leave me a like, and also consider subscribing to the channel! We just bought the same car, same, color and all. We absolutely love it! People comment on it a lot some good some not but it perfect for us. Now if we still had kids at home it be a little small but for two empty nesters traveling around its perfect!
That's awesome! I'm very happy to hear that you love the car. People will say what they want, but as long as it's perfect for you guys, that's all that matters. It would be small if you had to fit 2 or more kids in the back, but I bet some people will do it and get by! Overall I thought it was a great affordable car, and I'm glad you feel the same! @@ofcbob6391 We have 42,000 miles on it now. It's been flawless so far. Gas mileage is 37-40 on our trip to West Texas from Illinois. We travel a lot for the Independent Order of Oddfellows and just got back yesterday from Springfield Illinois. It would be to small for a family but for us it's fine. Doesn't ride like a Cadillac but better than our old Cavalier. Very good car in my opinion and we do get compliments on it occasionally. We like to open the moon roof and jam some classic rock on our adventures!

Hyundais answer to the Kia Soul. A quirky fun looking subcompact. Also love that the touchscreen isn't sticking all the way up off the top of the dash like most cars today. Sure it looks like it tacked on tablet but not as bad as most cars lately where its literally mounted on top
It sure is! Yes, I find the high mounted screen to be an interesting common complaint. I can’t say that it bothers me personally. However, I understand people’s thought process behind it. For you personally, is it just because it looks out of place? Essentially jutting out and looking very awkward? That would be the biggest thing for me. Nonetheless, I very much hope you enjoyed the review video! If you did, please make sure to leave me a like, and also consider striving for the channel! Size wise how does this compare to the kona? I currently drive a 2018 homda fit ex and I just love the smaller car feel. Suprisingly I drove a 2022 kona n line and I actually felt pretty comfortable in it
Good question! I’d say it’s pretty much the same exact size. I’m not sure of the exact dimensions and cargo capacities of the Kona, but my buddy Paul and I drove the Kona and this Venue one right after the other and they were very comparable as far as their size goes. As far as the comfort and ease of driving though, we were both significantly more impressed by the Venue over the Kona. I was actually thoroughly pleased by this car! For how cheap it was, I felt like it was a great value for the money. It was very easy, yet also relatively fun to drive, and it had all of the features that my friend Paul needed. got a 22' SEL Venue and sheeesh do I love it. Initially, I was going in to pick up an Elantra, but they were out of stock and would be restocked until 4 months later. Meanwhile, they presented me with this Venue, and instantly got intrigued and took it! Haven't looked back since
@phailnation That's awesome to hear! I'm very happy that you love your Venue. It's a much better car than I expected it to be. But damn, 4 months? That's crazy. Elantras are relatively popular though. If everything goes well, I'll be hopefully be reviewing a manual transmission Elantra N coming up soon! Stay tuned for that review if you would like as well. Great review. You've convinced me to get the SEL 2023 model in green. I never thought I'd like that color, but it does look really cool! Thanks for the great video and great review. I'm currently driving the 2020 Accent, which I will give to my kid and will take the Venue for mine. Cheap, nice and takes me from point a to point b.

My old 2012 Kia Sorento fell apart and I was near a Hyundai dealer when the englne light went on. They had very few new cars. One was a red 2023 Hyunda Venue SEL. I bought it right there. I love the car. I get mileage in the 40s on the hwy. I have a moon roof. It is comfortable to drive. The horn did fail and had to be replaced. Otherwise it has been 5 star.
Wow, only a 2012? That's not that old. I'm really happy you love you new Venue though! Surprised the horn failed so quickly.. Nonetheless that's an easy fix, and it's under warranty. Great job of covering the SEL's uniqueness. I've just passed 12k in mine, and it's one of the finest cars I've owned in 65 years of driving. It can be a bit noisy at speed, weight is the easiest way to achieve quiet, so you have to accept compromise. Fuel economy is vastly underestimated unless you insist on redlining. I rarely average less than 40mpg, and usually do low 40's, occasionally 45. Your mileage may vary. Thanks for clearing up the weight issue, indeed, as with the '22, it's 2612, about 22lbs/hp. The best approach is to let the transmission (a CVT by the way, but with a metal belt) do the shifting. On long descents one can choose a lower gear for improved engine braking. Obviously it would be nice to have LED lights on the SEL. But they aren't. OTH, as you point out, visibility is outstanding. No changes are planned for 2025, except maybe an additional color option The 1.6 engine could easily produce 141 hp, but it would have to go back to GDI, and we can't expect American drivers to buy only top tier or use Techron. Hyundai got burned a few years ago with valve issues so now they're super cautious.
Well said my friend! Yes, the LED headlights are significantly brighter. But like you said, you can't expect everything out of such a lightweight and affordable (for today's standards) car. Nonetheless, I'm very happy to hear that you love the car so much. My buddy seems to be happy with his so far as well. And that is impressive MPG! @@ofcbob6391 OK, so after doing a bit of research, I found that Hyundai has multiple different variants of this engine, especially in different countries. This one is a 1.6L non-turbo which I believe has dual-port injection (so both port and direct injection?) Anyway, in other markets, they have Venues that have a 1.6L turbo GDI, as well as a 2.0L NA motor. Hope that clarifies it a little bit! -Mark 😎

Yes, this car is a direct competitor of the Kia Soul. Some people argue that the Kia is better, and I can see their points for sure. It's mostly because the Kia has more horsepower, and more cargo room for around the same MSRP. Nonetheless, I think they are both great bang for your buck cars in this price range. This looks like a good car for the money..I have a crosstrek..and all the cars you mention are in the same price range as the crosstrek..Living in the snow belt I would always choose the subaru..If not This car would be on my list
It sure seemed like it! I was a clearly a fan. The Crosstrek is a great car for New England though. I don’t blame you for going with it. Subarus are very popular in this area (I live in southern MA) and they are even more popular up north in New Hampshire, Maine, and Vermont. This Venue suits Paul very well though! He doesn’t really need the AWD, and it appears that it will perform well enough in the snow for what Paul needs. I hope you enjoyed the video! Thanks for checking it out. Excellent review, almost the best I’ve seen. Amazing car! You are right SEL best level. It has auto AC , which is a must in so cal. Otherwise I would go for the SE. I subscribed I was so impressed by the review. 😊
Thank you so much! I really appreciate that. It really helps me out to grow my channel, and I very much appreciate you helping me out. 😁 Yes, I truly believe the SEL is the best bang for your buck trim of the Venue. It has everything you would really want out of that type of a car, and it's also a few thousand dollars cheaper than the Limited. However, I really feel like the limited didn't offer anything substantial over the SEL that was worth those extra few thousand dollars. Good luck with the car search, and have a great day! -Mark

It is interesting here - Hyundai is putting MSRP plus "additional fees" pricing - I was concerned BUT it looks like destination and dealer delivery fees are being added in (about $2500 on a quick look, so it does effect the impression of being a $20,000 car - however, that is a good thing as people forget about taxes, fees, and a bunch of variables including thinking about the gasoline and insurance costs (cars are horrible for growing your net worth - so always keep that in your mind). Also maintenance cost estimating - so you start to peek at that warranty and the $$ and the "sleep at night" (surprises hurt cashflow badly unless you basically "self insure" and do your homework around that). GENERALLY the better the warranty the less maintenance surprises you open yourself too - the downside that is not really a downside I suppose (it cost money) is that you pretty much MUST change that oil every 8,000 km (my warning goes off at 7 or 7.5k - or 7 months).
You have some very good points! Yes, the cost of a car can certainly add up very quickly when you factor in everything that goes into owning one. Even just taking it off the lot, Paul had to pay about an extra $3750 between taxes, documentation fees, and registering the car before driving it away. That turned a just over $21,000 car into a $25,000 car very quickly. This occurs with any vehicle you buy, so it is very important to keep that in mind that the MSRP is not the end-all, be-all price. At least this car does have a great warranty, as you mentioned how important those are. As far as changing oil goes, I highly recommend and have no issues with changing your oil every 4,000-5,000 miles with full synthetic. I do it myself in my driveway, so to me it costs about the same or less as it would for someone else to have theirs done at the shop just with old-school conventional. I also drive my vehicles relatively hard, so I think changing oil more often than not is certainly better for them. I really hope you enjoyed the review video either way! Great video! I've been driving my 2023 Venue SEL now for a month and love it. Haven't yet had the chance to see how the FWD does in snow. I'm use to AWD. I do wish there was a digital time display on the dashboard rather than having to look over at the screen for a somewhat small time stamp. Love the turning radius too!

I sure it will perform relatively well in the snow. It has decently high ground clearance. The turning radius/ease of parking was one of the best attributes for this car in my opinion. As far as the clock goes, I understand that. It would’ve been very easy to put a clock right in the center of the gauge cluster. That’s not the biggest deal at all for me though. Other than that though, I’m very happy you are enjoying your Venue! Thanks again for checking on my video!

I think the Venue needs to come with an AWD option, like the Niro; (I see it as a traction-maintaining safety feature) other than that, it’s got almost everything a man could need
That would be really cool! I don’t think they offered it purely due to the fact of saving money on R&D. Also, Hyundai probably figures that if people really needed AWD, they would want to just upgrade to a more expensive model instead. I hope you enjoyed the review video! If you did, please don’t forget to leave me a like, and also consider subscribing! Thanks so much. -Mark
I have not reviewed a Niro yet! Would that be something you are interested in seeing if I can get my hands on one? Yourself, and another individual that asked if I have reviewed a new Kia Soul are the first people in a while to request specific cars for a review. Thanks for your feedback!
Actually, the KIA Niro is not available with AWD either. And like the Soul, Kicks and CH-R, they are all front wheel drive hatchbacks that their manufacturers misleadingly market as SUVs because people are supposedly obsessed with them. You also said something about the Nissan having a CVT, subtly implying that was not ideal, (and in my opinion, it is a HUGE detractor) - but the Venue you’re driving and the Seltos you recommend also come with a CVT.

I just bought a 2024 Limited and I have too say I really love it. I'm 6.3 and have plenty of room. Very happy with it. Great review ,your spot on for sure. The limited has the LED lights and they are fantastic at night, I also like the fact that you get heated seats and navagation in the limited and it also comes with Blue Link Plus and that's for the life of the vehicle. Truly a great fun vehicle .
Right on man! So happy to hear that you love it. The LEDs certainly make a HUGE difference. Dare I say it's "night and day!" 😅😅😅 Seriously though, they are sooooo much better than the halogens. However, my buddy wanted to save as much money as he reasonably could, while also getting all of the features he wanted. He figured that he didn't need them, so he went with the SEL. We drove both trims at night as well, so we had a perfect first-hand experience of how well they work. And you are totally right about the interior space. It looks like a small car, but has a deceptively large amount of room inside, especially headroom. Thanks for checking out my review! I pondered getting this one - but did not even get to sitting in it. My brother took a look and instantly said .. no no the Elantra much more substantial for about the same price. He ended up driving a white one when our Dad's Optima went in for a new motor - so we had it for 4 weeks and it grows on people quickly. It does everything surprisingly well - cargo is quite usable, power is quite useable, the safety systems are quite useable, the look is really quite well done. The only downside was that he said he felt comfortable, but his legs looked like he needed the seat back further.
You can't go wrong with either one. If you need extra power and space, the Soul is the one to get. You can buy a kia Soul GT-Line with the same features as a Venue SEL/Limited.
@@JT-fq2bl Great advice! If you are seriously looking to buy one or the other, I would still check both of them out though to make sure you’re getting the right car for you!

That’s a great question! I’m not entirely sure which one I would pick over the other. I very much enjoyed this Venue, but I have not yet driven a Soul. I know these cars are very closely comparable. Many people state that they think the Soul is a better value being the same price with 30+ more horsepower and more cargo room. Im interested to read about the multiple Hyundai owning families as were another, in Australia. Ive just bought the top model "Elite" Venue & my eldest son is buying my 10 year old low km i30. He had my old 2009 i30 which was just written off. (He said my 10 year old i30 drives, better than a new Chinese MG). 2 other earlier model family owned Hyundais gave amazing kilometers & reliability too. They just dont want to die! I also love the Venue for its visibility & higher seating position. G
Yes, it is very interesting to hear other peoples perspectives that live in different countries. It's amazing how many people have watched my video from all across the world. That's also great that Hyundai has been such a good brand to you and your family! I'm sure the Chinese cars are VERY affordable compared to others of the same class. However, I don't know if I would ever expect one to drive as well as any other higher quality products, and they certainly will not last nearly as long. I had a Chinese "Yamoto" 50cc dirt bike when I was a kid. Definitely worked, and it was super fun for a 10/11 year old. 100% was a great way for a young buck to get into motorcycles/dirt riding. However, it absolutely did not hold up to me letting my irresponsible friends at the time slowly destroy it over a year or 2 until it was barely held together anymore... Despite the abuse, I know a Japanese bike would have held up a lot better even with all of that. That's why they are so much more money though! Either way, I am really happy that you love your Venue! I thought it was truly a great car for the price. The visibility and seating position are very good for a small SUV, as well as ease of access/egress based on the seat height. I bought a 23 Limited Venue, denim edition, last week. I found out the Limited trim has built-in navigation. For the price and space needed, the Limited couldn't have both sat nav and wireless Android Auto. No clue about the sunroof, but no loss to me. I'm bald, and my head doesn't need any more sun exposure 😆
Nice! Good for you. I hope you enjoy it! I clearly wasn’t a fan that it wasn’t wireless, but I’m glad it wasn’t a dealbreaker for you. You obviously get the much better LED headlights and heated seats to make up for it. And that’s hilarious about the sunroof. Hyundai makes a nice car for less money. I bought my wife a 2015 Elantra Limited. It has been trouble free since new. Breaks, wiper blades, tires. Just regular maintenance. I sold high end luxury cars for 15 years, then in 2010 I moved to the Hyundai product. The dealer I worked for treated the customers like valued patrons. Pugi Hyundai in Downers Grove, illinois. Great store with a great crew. 😉 subbing.

I Hate sunroofs. They always end up leaking and I don't need to roast in my car in Miami. So the fact that the highest priced model doesn't have one is a definite plus!
@@mb3775 Interesting perspective! I’m glad to hear that you would at least appreciate that. Makes sense when you put it that way. Or older folks, seniors that dont carry a ton of ppl and "stuff" but still have a roomy interiior with plenty of trunk space, reasonable ride-heighr to see traffic ahead and seats pretty level with your butt so getting in/out is easy and high roof so you dont bang your head. Kudos to the FI the prevents the carbon problems of GDI, and bless them for having a real key to start it and no infernal start/stop system! This is a rare old-school car in the areas that really benefit. Beam rear axle keeps costs down, they are stronger than 10 acres of garlic and much cheaper 2-wheel alignments, not 4-wheel $$. Just sayin.
Thanks Mark for a good review on the Venue. Older guy that drove everything from 1970s muscle cars including a 70 GTO, 73 Challenger (it only had the 318-V8 though) to Miata, Integra, Jetta. Now at 60 looking to replace 2015 Camry LE with a lifted hatch/crossover like the Venue, Honda HRV, Nissan Kicks, Soul, Seltos, CorollaCross, and the like. Adding the Venue to my test drive list. If the ride isn't harsh, combined with warranty, I live in small western NY city. FWD is fine in snow with Blizzaks or similar snow tire. Afterall i grew up with RWD Dodge and Ford cars in 60s and 70s. Dad would throw extra weight in back of the station wagon or trunk for traction. No problems in snow. I'll check out Limited to see if Hyundai fixed the sunroof other features for 2024 or 2025 Venue. Thanks again. New subscriber.
I really appreciate that sir! Thank you so much 😎🤙 I reviewed a 2021 Seltos which I also really liked if you would want to check out that video as well to compare! But yes, I think the Venue would be alright in the winter with some proper snow tires. You also have experience driving in those conditions, so I think you would be fine anyway. However, my only concern being out in Western NY would be any huge hills you might have to conquer on your normal routes. The Venue is very light, and you can't add weight to the front to help with grip, unless you make someone lay across your hood 😅
@@ofcbob6391 honestly I can’t make up my mind about spending the money. Nothing really wrong with my Camry. Started looking at CPO Mazda CX-5’s for similar money with 25k miles. I took too long to decide so I’ll likely wait and see what 2026 models. Maybe next summer a vehicle will come out I sure of. Good options today it’s just that stupid fear of missing out. lol.
Venues are SUPER cute!!!! They're the answer to the mini Cooper, because unlike the cooper, the Venue is more reliable. I wish they were priced more reasonably used...but used is super hard to come by...maybe that's a testament of how reliable it is
Thanks for checking out the video! I believe the inflated prices of used Venues are purely due to the fact that the entire used car market is significantly inflated now more than it ever has been in history. We had a 2020 Venue much like the 2022 you reviewed and loved it. In Canada the model was called a Trend. Unfortunately it was written off not long after we bought it because of what I thought was a fender bender collision (my fault) that resulted in all the air bags deploying, plus front end damage. I can attest to the safety of the Venue after that experience. We would have bought another, but supply chain issues arose because of COVID and we needed a vehicle. We eventually settled on a base model 2019 VW Golf which is a great car, but not as easy to get in and out of as we found with the Venue. We also missed the extra charging ports and more upright driving position. In short, we’d easily buy another Venue when we’re done with the Golf. Thanks for the review.
I'm sorry to hear that your Venue got totaled just from that small accident. At least no one was hurt, right? Yeah, Covid really put one heck of a monkey wrench in to the whole car market... Just got back from a business trip to Toronto where I had rented a Venue for the week. A great car for what I needed and I would seriously consider it if I was looking for a small new car to use in and around the city. Not sure about using it for extended highway trips because of the increased noise levels over 100 km/hr
I’m glad you enjoyed the Venue! Yes, I completely agree that it is a great small and cheap car for daily use around town, especially in tighter streets and parking spaces. It wasn’t fantastic on the highway, but for what I was expecting, it really wasn’t that bad. At 100 km/h to 120 km/h, I didn’t feel like it was a significantly stressed or couldn’t handle the speed safely. However, any faster than that, and I feel like the prominent wind noise, combined with engine being pushed pretty much to it’s max, I don’t think it would be very comfortable to take on a very long trip if you plan on going 140 km/h or more for an extended period of time. love the sytle / look. it's great. at my price point: 23k or LESS. I have this, toyota corolla, Subaru Impreza (with Manual trans!!!!), Hyundai Elantra, Kia Soul, Kia Forte, Ford maverick (kind of, you can't actually buy one) to pick from. Looks wise, I love ALL of them. Some people keep saying hyundai and kia are Trash... ugh not sure what to buy
In my honest opinion, Hyundais and Kias certainly USED to be trash. 15 or 20 years ago, you would never even dare to mention Kia or Hyundai in the same breath as Toyota or Honda. Toyota and Honda are still a solid notch above, but you are also paying a notch above at the same time respectively. Kias and Hyundais nowadays are exorbitantly higher in quality than they used to be. They are 100% strong and respectable competitors now going up against Toyota or Honda. If you would like a manual transmission, and are looking for the best bang for your buck car out there, I don’t think you could go wrong with a Kia soul. I’ve heard excellent things about them. They are potentially even better than this car as far as bang for your buck value goes! Feel free to reach out in the future and let me know what you end up going with. I’d be curious to what you end up choosing, and how you end up liking it. Lastly, I hope you enjoyed the video! Hyundai and Kia are fine with one exception; the Theta 2 series engines. The Theta 2 engines came in a 2.0T and 2.4DI 4 cylinders, and both have catastrophic problems. From shavings being left in the engine from casting, carbon fouling, excessive oil consumption, etc; they're all but guaranteed to violently fail before 100K. Some people have gotten lucky and haven't had problems from their Theta 2 (I have a friend with a 15 Kia Optima that she completely neglects and bears on, but it's running fine at 145K), but they're in the minority. Luckily, this car does not have the Theta 2 engine and should be fine. Aside from the Theta 2 engine problems; Kia and Hyundai make great cars that offer excellent quality and value. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one as long as it does not have the Theta 2.
@@OhPhuckYou That’s a fair point you make. I must say, their quality control has dramatically increased over the last few years compared to how unreliable they were 20+ years ago… Although, I have heard a lot about those catastrophic failures with those specific engines that you were talking about. I believe the 2013 Tucson with a 2.4L has that engine as well, correct? My girlfriend owns that car, and it only has about 66,000 miles on it right now. I do have a slight fear that it will suddenly have an issue like that one day... The only problem she’s ever really had with it though was the intake manifold runner controller failure. I ended up fixing it myself, and saving us a lot of money. I also made a video on it! Nonetheless, I agree with you that I wouldn’t want to get a vehicle with one of those types of engines either. I’m also happy that this Venue doesn’t have one. I hope you enjoyed the review video either way. If you did, please make sure to leave me a like, and also consider subscribing to the channel! In Australia we had the Hyundai Getz (2006-2011), which was one of the best-selling cars, followed by the i20 (Indian made flop) that killed the Hyundai budget line. The Venus is a great value buzz box and a good compliment to the modern Getz.
The seats do fold down! However, may I ask how tall you are? I don’t know if I would want to try and sleep back there if that’s what you’re getting at. I’m sure it’s doable in a pinch, but I doubt that it would be super comfortable for me though. As far as holding gear goes, if it’s just you, or just one other person max, AND you are minimalist enough, AND can utilize a solid roof rack to store tons of things of top of the car, I would say absolutely! You also just have to keep in mind if you’re going really remote that this car does not come with AWD. Just make sure you have some good knobby tires on it to help you from getting stuck if you’re going really off the beaten path. I hope that helps answer your questions though! It is a cloth and “leatherette” combo. I will say though, I did sit in and drive the Limited at the dealer, and the seats are pretty comfortable. Wasn’t enough to convince my friend Paul to upgrade from the SEL though.
I LOVE my 2022 Venue! I drove it from Upstate New York to Florida and back. I am so happy I went with the SEL trim. Phenomenal, efficient vehicle.

I'm going to be honest, I completely fell in love with this car. Like, I think it's the cutest little compact SUV I've ever seen--especially for a first car. Definitely getting it, thank you for the in-depth review!

Canadian standards seem to exceed American ones!
What is the fuel consumption?
@@cooper7031 not really, we don't get the 10 year 100k warranty. We get 5 years 100k Kilometers

Pop it into sport going uphill
I’m so happy you love your Venue! Thanks for sharing. Based on everything you said, it seems like you bought a car that is a great fit for you. Yes, it certainly is slow, and probably even that much worse uphill. However, if you are not a speed demon like me, which I am going to guess you are not, I bet it is perfectly fine in 95% of the scenarios you will be in. I bet it also looks very fitting decked out with baby Yoda! Hahah

I'm looking at one for my retirement car, too. I realized I have 6 years and that's time for a car to be bought and paid off. The green looks great on the website, I'm hoping it looks good when I get to actually see one. I'm a Green Arrow fan, so if I do go with green, I'm sure I'll be decking it out with some GA stuff. lol
@@tphillips37 The green is very vibrant, the pictures do not do it justice. I did mine in Grogu.

Great comprehensive review! So many details illustrated..I agree regarding the Trim levels...the Limited should have it all. Nicely done!
I’m not seeing many derogatory comments about how this car looks... I think it looks awesome!

Great review! Thanks for reviewing an affordable new car! Very few of them nowadays! Looking forward to your review of the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport!

Hey Mattd, please tell us how it has been now that you've had it a year or so.

Especially considering that this is not a hybrid, those are fantastic fuel economy numbers.

So, you say it is NOT GDI? Is it port injected?
@@ofcbob6391 OK, so after doing a bit of research, I found that Hyundai has multiple different variants of this engine, especially in different countries. This one is a 1.6L non-turbo which I believe has dual-port injection (so both port and direct injection?) Anyway, in other markets, they have Venues that have a 1.6L turbo GDI, as well as a 2.0L NA motor. Hope that clarifies it a little bit! -Mark 😎

reminds me so much of the kia soul, especially the cargo space at the rear

Thank you so much! I really appreciate that.

Great video! I've been driving my 2023 Venue SEL now for a month and love it. Haven't yet had the chance to see how the FWD does in snow. I'm use to AWD. That’s awesome though! I’m glad you love it. I sure it will perform relatively well in the snow. It has decently high ground clearance. The turning radius/ease of parking was one of the best attributes for this car in my opinion. As far as the clock goes, I understand that.
-Mark
@@DoubleClutchAutoReviews alas; you’re, not wrong… Speaking of upgrades, did you also do a review of the Niro?
I have not reviewed a Niro yet! Would that be something you are interested in seeing if I can get my hands on one? Yourself, and another individual that asked if I have reviewed a new Kia Soul are the first people in a while to request specific cars for a review. Thanks for your feedback!
The car can't come with AWD, with a 121 hp powerplant. The car would take 10 minutes to merge onto a highway.

Been leaning toward the KIA Soul. Will have to check this out.

Which would you recommend the Venue or a Kia Soul?
That’s a great question! I’m not entirely sure which one I would pick over the other. I very much enjoyed this Venue, but I have not yet driven a Soul. I know these cars are very closely comparable.

Thanks for your comment! I bought a 23 Limited Venue, denim edition, last week. I found out the Limited trim has built-in navigation. For the price and space needed, the Limited couldn't have both sat nav and wireless Android Auto. No clue about the sunroof, but no loss to me. Nice! Good for you. I hope you enjoy it! I clearly wasn’t a fan that it wasn’t wireless, but I’m glad it wasn’t a dealbreaker for you.

This would be a great new car for someone going off to college. Fuel efficient, roomy, and easy to park.
I absolutely agree! Better yet, a recent college grad that’s living in or near a city!
Just sayin.
@@auntbarbara5576 Very well said! It truly is a modern car with more old-school SUV traits that many folks would appreciate, young and old!
So Craig, what did you end up buying?
Thankfully, my friend Paul found this one brand new, didn't have to pay over MSRP for it, and he's very happy with it. I very much hope you enjoyed my review on the Venue!
At least you can enjoy the Golf for now, but I'm sure they will be a Venue out there for you when you finally want to upgrade! And no problem! Thank you so much for watching it! Why should anyone have a problem with the styling? Looks great! Every car should have its own distinctive look.
Also, I love hard plastics because they're much easier to keep clean.
Rented the venue for a couple weeks. Decent vehicle.
Test drove the kona SEL 2 liter.
Bought it because the versatility lots of standard safety features, and fun to drive.
BTY, beautiful country there driving around
The Venue is really not bad at all for the price. However, I’ve heard A LOT of people talking about the Kia Soul and how it compares. The Kona is a small step above in price, but how did you feel it was a better value than the Venue? Just genuinely curious, and would like to hear your opinion! Feel free to let me know.

The kona was fun to drive, the CVT trans is smooth. At 2800 pounds with 91 Octane fairly zippy- MPGs are averaging over 35. Gun metal grey with black roof and my surfboard racks fit right in.
I'll subscribe.

I just bought a 2023 Venue Limited. I. Still getting accustomed to it since my previous car was a 2011 Sonata that was hot wired and stolen from my house. Thanks to some fan of TikTok. 😱😡. Mine has push button starting rather than a key. I do like the manual parking brake and the compass in the dashboard.

Nonetheless, I very much hope you enjoyed the review video overall! If you did, please make sure to leave me a like, and also consider subscribing to the channel! Really helps me out to grow, and I certainly appreciate it. Take care, and have a great day! -Mark

love the sytle / look. it's great. at my price point: 23k or LESS.

In Australia we had the Hyundai Getz (2006-2011), which was one of the best-selling cars, followed by the i20 (Indian made flop) that killed the Hyundai budget line. The Venus is a great value buzz box and a good compliment to the modern Getz.
Is the rear cargo area big enough for car camping and do the seats fold down?🎉🎉🎉 😊
The seats do fold down!
