That's likely due to the internet. But for those of us around since before that time know him as an Op-ed columnist for many decades and author of over 50 books since 1971, he was hardly a "nobody" before the birth of UA-cam/Fakebook.

And I don't know if is late because as a Mexican mom with young Americans children in elementary school I think I for me is not too late. I like how the interviewer is respectful, doesn't interrupt, has read the book and quotes from it and helps his guest explain his concepts. These days interviews are usually more like a battle with people screaming over each other and maliciously misinterpreting other people's words.

    • @wyldebyll3089

This is how a productive interview is done. You can listen and become informed. In the typical "circus show" hostile interviewer network show, there would be outbursts "racism", "misogyny", etc. , usually unsubstantiated claims. People watch these and eat popcorn, like at a wrestling match.

I do appreciate that it's not a screaming match, but to me it it's just as useless, if not more so. They're tossing up softballs, mostly just setting him up to talk about sections of the book. There is no pushback on anything. There is no "How do you know that" or correlation is accepted as evidence enough. I suspect these are just organizations who support and/or profit from promoting points of view Sowell has. I suspect they wouldn't give an interview to someone who opposes the ideas, and if so, would not be lobbing up softballs simply to give them talking points. Really, the only thing the interviews I saw (stopped at 60%) were good for was reinforcing previously held beliefs. I don't think these have much value otherwise.

Exactly why the left are teaching CRT and gender identity studies. Keep people dumbed down to keep the insanely greedy and power hungry in control. If people start thinking for themselves and employing critical thinking skills that used to be taught in school, but now people are taught what to think not how to think, this country would again flourish and righteousness would rule and those currently in power would lose their shirts as well as their seats of power. That's why America has been "dumbed" down. We must teach our children, their children and future generations HOW TO THINK AND NOT WHAT TO THINK. REMOVE YOUR CHILDREN FROM PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND DO NOT SEND THEM TO UNIVERSITY IF YOU WANT A WELL ROUNDED ADULT.

    • @etchalaco9971

there are no "skewed distributions" in nature regarding the material conditions of existence. In a population of monkeys, you do not find one with a billion bananas while others have to get by with only half a banana. No natural capabilities justify one person having billions while others struggle to get by. Even if there were such justification, why does society have to be based on natural capabilities for which we have no control over? They are either the result of the accident of birth or are socially acquired. The first one is irrelevant to the organization of a civilized society and the second justifies social change. Furthermore, any talk about "capabilities" as the only factor in social economic disparities ignores the many social benefits received by the "capable" on their road to success. Why is it that almost every foundational industry in the United States has been subsidized, protected by tariffs, received massive tax cuts, a skilled labor force, adequate infrastructure? Did these social factors contribute to the success of the "capable"? Why would that be the case? Is "capability" really the whole story?

there are no "skewed distributions" in nature regarding the material conditions of existence.

Minimum wage stopped my father from being able to grow his business. He needed workers but could not get off the ground with only being able to hire just two people. You can’t slave people to death to try and climb the ladder. If he could hire those that was willing to make a little extra and yet hire more hands he could have been able to fulfill the orders that came in. It was so stressful that he ended up shutting down his dreams and went back to work for a big corporation that is already established. Talk about horrible seeing my father strive and make something from nothing and turn it into something that people wanted and yet couldn’t fulfill the demands due to govt policies stopping him. It’s sad that the economy has become hijacked and rigged by those that want to dictate what is okay and who is the system and who is not. It goes against the very Constitution and our God given rights. You cannot allow laws regulations and codes take a God given right and turn into a privilege that the wolves in sheep’s clothing can take away. They use the chaos use the hardships of life and use it to create laws which are false securities that take our civil liberties away. Time we stood up and said enough is enough and put those at the top in check cause they work for us they serve us and they take an oath of office and if they continue to shit on the constitution and act like a damn tyrannical regime and pretend to be this good guy while selling us out then we have no choice but to remove them and replace them with those that will stand up and do the right thing and fight the good fight. If not we will witness a civil war and or worse the fall of America to our enemies.

Two-parent households is an ultra-rarity and just as disturbing, almost everybody is on welfare. There are so many things wrong in these urban communities and its all directly caused by Democrat policies and programs. Schools are totally broken, drugs are sold without consequences, kids cant read or write, politicians are corrupt worse than ever. Our past 3 mayors stepped down in disgrace or criminally charged. Being mistreated made me who I am. If you read books you'd find out why you're being mistreated. You'd learn things that expose the tyranny of the masses. Your view of the world would change. It's a blessing to be an outcast from society. Society is boring. Instead people fight for things that make no sense.

I just became familiar with a term called "pluralistic ignorance." Its kinda like everybody agrees with whats going on in the group because it feels far safer than being the one that says no. Just like white folk fear being called racist, black folk fear being called sellout, uncle tom or being accused of acting white.
I blame a lot of these fears on the liberals who like to use these tactics as a form of mind control. It works so well on black folk. Thats why black folk continue to vote democrat even though many are very conservative.... i.e... Republicans are racist so if you vote for them, then you are a sellout.
