The turret target selection. A more optimized idea would be using raycasts. Aka a sphere cast in a range from the turret. First collider found of type enemy would be your target. If you dont find any targets increase range by a range jump amount.

it really is a good idea, currently the game is optimized enough but if my fps budget runs out ill look at fixing this first thanks!
