    I like to PvP, and PvE. Usually wearing an Exo Suit nowadays. Unlocking it is easy with no cheats needed anymore, and usually on a server, official or unofficial, I'm not fussed. Single Player is great though, certainly with a guide for any platform be it xbox, ps4, ps5, pc, it's great. Sometimes play MTS, and usually post patch/update. But a survival game needs some community news and that's what I do, giving you the latest on events, small tribes, maybe even fast flyers and primitive plus, usually covering all maps from Island to Genesis Part 2. And one day. ARK 2!

    I was so happy to see Hidden lake base location on the list. I think it is better than herbivore island because easy access to metal, obsidian and other important resources and Creatures such as Argentavis, giganotosaurus, rex spino, snow biome creatures for taming purpose and also mosas also spawn near that area so that also..

    • @tbear
      @tbear 2 роки тому +1

      Tbh resources isn't to bad. You have some limited metal spawn on the island (good enough for the start atleast). You also have one of the big underwater caves right beside it, which holds no dinos, but a bunch of oil/silica pearls (and i think maybe also obsidian?). But yeah, hidden lake is by far easier for getting creatures, you are essentially close to most things.

    I can't believe everyone forgot the cave on Ragnarok. Not the one under the 3 waterfalls, but one in the grasslands that's accessable through one big waterfall. Ovis and Equus spawn near it often, so whenever your looking to tame something nearby like an Allosaurus, it's a go-to place to prepare! Plus, Gigas cant fit inside

    • @Rikard416
      @Rikard416 2 роки тому

      I set up there. It's a little cramped but it has a deep pond inside that I can store water dinos which is good. Close to metal in the vocano also. Biggest drawback apart from space is the location: I would prefer a base at the center of the map instead of the corner (but no good caves near Ragnarok green obs which sucks)

    • @galaxyheart5555
      @galaxyheart5555 2 роки тому

      I don't quite know if you're referring to PVP or PvE but considering you said a Giga not being able to fit is good, I'm assuming PVP. That's what cryo pods are for, and it's honestly a horrible spot. Not many people tame Allos or carnos but instead tame rexes and Gigas so that's just a nuisance, ovis is great but when you're established, you're not taming things anymore and I don't have Eqqus, I have Unicorns just for shits and giggles. It's too small for any big tribe looking to breed, raise, and grow and too out there since it's a highly known cave and doesn't have a great defendable position. A lot of people travel in highlands for mutton and wyverns so it's heavily traversed meaning you'll be dealing with a lot of players than if you were hidden somewhere in the woods.
      TL;DR Cryo pods exist, too small for established tribes, dino spawns aren't important, too known and player traversed for smaller tribes, hard to defend, heavily traversed by players.

    I personally like the one area on the Island that has a hollow redwood bridge and you build on the non-redwood side. I forget what it is called but you can see the area at 7:25 on the video if you follow the river down. There is a clay pot explorer note there as well. The only thing you have to do is build some walls near both of the shore lines to prevent wild dinos from wandering in.
    It isn't completely flat, but I just build a pretty large round workshop with a cliff platform on the rocky hill that has the explorer note on it. If you hover over the spot just right you should get the full platform above the hill to utilize it completely.
    I just really love it for the location itself. You are somewhat close to all the beaver spawns the little cliff with metal on it plus the mountains. You got your own personal bridge to the redwood biome with the trunk and also you can build a tree platform and I set up some zip lines as well. So sap and wild beehives are right next door.
    Also the poison cave with the Maganeura isn't that far so if I need a lot of paste right away and beavers aren't making it fast enough I just run in the cave with a frog.
    Herbivore Island is cool and all but there aren't as many resources near it and gets boring. It does however make for a good water dino pen. So usually I will make a base there just for that and try to build everything on the shallow water so I don't disturbed the metal spawns.

    • @idkpeerpressure2854
      @idkpeerpressure2854 3 роки тому

      In the late game of my first playthrough, I built near that tree trunk you mentioned. I loved that base and was very proud of it as it was my first "big" build, and my first build in which I got creative. My base was on the further of the two little inclines across the river from you. I love the natural mini canyons at the back for building my taming pens (just gate off the entrances using behemoth). I am able to build a great base size for a solo player (singleplayer), obviously I've got all the same resource access as you (since we are right across from eachother), but my only downside was water access, so I built my garden right on the shore just outside that little shallow water path under the tree.
      The first dinos I ever bred were dimorphodons, and I had a few next to my garden for defense against wild dinos.
      Now I use just have that same incline almost completely surrounded with behemoth gates and only use that incline for dino storage and light breeding.

      There is a deep lake near green ob on Rag that I built cliff platforms over and I built into the cave a bit. Amazing view, not blocking any spawns (of any dinos or resources), no wild dinos can get to you (just add a few behemoth gates), the deep water can house tons of aquatic creatures as well as the larger ones, and it has 3 entry points; one on the other side of the cave, one near the base of the mountain (at water level), and one near the top.

      @@Rio_1111 I totally agree, I am going to be building a base there on a cluster I play, it is a place with a geyser and a decent puddle of water (not deep or anything, but very useful for greenhouse stuff if you don't like the Tek's crop plot appearance and also very nice for aesthetic for backyard type stuff, maybe making the geyser some type of water fountain and whatnot) it isn't the best place to build where there is a geyser (scenery-wise), as there's a spot with a waterfall and a river near one, but that spot is way too close to somebody's base unfortunately.. ...Theres metal nodes on Herbivore Island. Our tribe went through a number of bases on the Island until we settled on our current one.
    On our first go we did Herbivore Island, but that became troublesome as space was at a premium, even for just our small three people tribe. Also some of the ever needed metal nodes were affected by us walling off the top of the cliff (to stop stuff falling down into the base). Also we use mods and Prehistoric Beasts spawn Prionosuchus off the coast which like to attack often and Nasutoceratops are very deadly, even for large therapods (RIP my first ever Rex). Also its quite easy to accidently hit and agro a Trike or even Bronto as you're mining. I still recommend Herbivore for solo tribes or people just starting out on ARK to learn a bit about how to survive in relative safety.
    Next was the bay directly opposite Herbivore Island in the Southeast Shores. Also known as Drayo's Cove. After spending some time on official PvE servers my partner came up with the idea to live on a bridge type base over the bay. This provided relative safety from land based predators; some big carnivores do spawn there due to it being classed as grassland. However, it took forever to get set up and the bridge wasn't immune to certain larger therapod threats who's hit box reached up to the level of the bridge. It was also a pain to expand, requiring ridiculous amounts of resources to build pillars. Plus without an ocean platform, water tames would have required a deep underwater pen which was taking forever to build until we had a hard drive wipe. I can see this base option being easier if you had more people to go out and gather resources, but for three people, it was a grind.
    And last, our current base, the cove at the entrance to the Lava Cave. Its easy to wall off either side of the beach, then wall off the cliff top, hell if you really want to be safe you can wall off the waterfront too. Plenty of space, access to water, perfect access to crystal. After getting some Argies its location makes it viable to do metal runs at herbivore. The Swamp is due North for gathering rare flowers. If using an Argie to go to Far's Peak and mine obsidian, the distance isn't too bad and the rock pillars in the Swamp provide a good safe spot to regenerate stamina. The shore is shallow for some distance meaning building a pier isn't too difficult. The proximity of Drayo's Cove and the large carnivores that spawn there represents some danger but also opportunities to tame without having to go to say, the mountains.

    While Herbivore Island is a good PvE base location, I personally prefer longitude 47, latitude 84 on this map. You have close access to almost all resources, you are on a reasonably even plateau with more than enough space for your base and dinos, and there is only one access point up to the plateau. You also have water nearby and even some space for water dinos. And most of the important Dinos (except for Rexes and Yuties) spawn nearby.

      Funny enough I build pvp resource fobs right there I got like 4 set up on Xbox small tribes, frequently empty them so people in waste their time on turret running (don't fill turrets more than 1/2) I usually go for like 2/5 they get wiped like bi weekly but they're well worth the amount of resources to pumped out usually can farm 15 Indy forges daily solo easily, and something like 30k bullets daily if using the right dinos. Karkinos/anky/stego/Argy. Thanks to it I don't ever have to worry about getting truly wiped

    Since we have 4 servers to transfer to, it doesn't make sense not to build near an obelisk. Never thought of building on herbie island, The Southern Islets or Wearthertop overlooking is similarly safe, excess to the ocean (without the Megas), and way more resources.

    Not a veteran player but I like the Island waterfall near the red ob. I build on the top of the higher waterfall and basically on platform (with greenhouse floors so I can see the water flow (1) abundant fish in the blue pond at the bottom, also free honey from two untamed hives (I basically built a platform below them, grab honey and immediately jump into the pond to evade drones, pretty funny) (2) acceptable metal and crystal farm from the metal hill in the center south. (3) Acceptable distance to redwoods and center of map with Thylo or Argy.(4) Close to an ob for easy transfer between map. (5) very close to ocean (6) huge pond upstream to store water dinos. Drawbacks however is that it's on the corner of a map so kinda long distance if I needa go to carno island part for high level tames

    The green Obelisk is pretty great location for PVE on Scorched. If you are looking out to the dunes I build on the upper right side. You can then build a couple of ceilings out and put a wind turbine and get 100% wind without actually having to put your base on the outer dune area. If you are just starting out I would be careful because I have seen a random wyvern spawn in the location. It is very rare but has happened twice to me on two different playthroughs as they can throughout the map. Not good if you are not prepared for them, this is just my SP experience, I know many people who play PVE say they don't encounter them away from the scar unless someone kited them out. Maybe they are just lucky or it is a bit different in SP.

    Ragnarok castle is a very fun base. On one unofficial server I took that over, then proceeded to take over the entire underworld. Every entrance had massive turret walls and defenses, and towers throughout the entire place. And towers in the swamp and all along the mountains of castle. No one fucked with me. The entire castle was a massive turret wall. I remember the admin was testing shit and spawned like 10 dragons in vikings Bay. They all made it to my castle and got smoked so fast. Very underrated.

      @@fico12342 From my own personal experience with ark (never played mobile so don’t know if it’s a bug) a great place to find raptors is actually right across the channel from herbivore island. Follow the beach to an inlet and there you’ll find a wide variety of different creatures. Usually it’s carnos, brontos, raptors, therazinos, and the usual beach creatures. But occasionally I’ll find equus, rexes, and spinos. Quite the contrasting area being so close to herbivore island.
