These are so great. I don't know exactly what Red Bull Academy was but the experience seems to get the interview subjects relaxed and comfortable with the audience so they open up in ways seldom heard in interview settings. Premier especially sounds so real, unfiltered, human and honest and you get insights into the music that you never get with the interview subject is in performance mode. I don't really like Red Bull soda but I've been drinking it anyway just in tribute to this mountain of genius educational material.
Lol I'm pretty sure the energy drink is separate from RBMA I enjoy a red bull every now and again. People that get pissy because of "promotion" of "poison" are pearl clutching bitches and are seriously missing out on some great interviews. This video in particular is extremely underviewed, WTF?
This episode showcases the art, science & receipts of listening, in my opinion. As soon as I saw the same interviewer who interviwed MF Doom I was relieved, cus dude is sincerely here for the ride. I say skip the comment section and press play.
Thank You, Premier (and Guru/Gang Starr)! From Gang Start to Nas, Big, Group Home etc, to MC Eiht solo stuff and all the underground classics your work hasnt left my stereo, ears and soul since the early 90's. Respect!!
I love that Premo doesn’t kiss artist a$$. If he thinks you’re aiight, then it is what it is. I could envision him being the type of person that could hear someone tell him that LL said he don’t like him and he’d say I don’t give a f***. 😂
What's with the Host's body language? Yeah Preem is a bit long winded but the host is weird on this episode...I was raised on the Chain and the Starr by the way nothing but love for Preem..
I think it's because he set up a bunch of questions and subjects to talk about. Premo was talking non-stop and it was basically an hour of storytelling. Nothing wrong with that, but that's what I think. Besides Jeff is usually like this. Be sure that he has nothing against Premo. They are both on good terms and know each other for many years.
andy gone Honestly, you gotta appreciate the real ness of this though, Preem ain’t hold back once and that, at least for me, completes the interview. No one comes for a sentence of response, Preemo did that and then some. The interviewer on the other hand...yikes
45:24 - That Missy story just shows her fakeness at that time. What makes it more embarrassing is the fact that she sporting the old school era in dress as if she had knowledge, but then fails to show decent respect to the founding Father Kool DJ Herc.
Cool clip and great to hear but come on.... quick with the ‘ ‘Prince isn’t gay he’s got women’. It so doesn’t matter who it is, what they’re into, if the music is good.
@@MentalPistol Quit playing. I graduated HS in 1985 and consider myself a Hip Hop historian. After all, can you say you went to the original Fresh Fes, or Uncle Jams Army shows in LA.

Super dope lecture, so many jewels in there🙏 Preem: 'Serato should be earned...'
Damn Premo can TALK lmao .... legend
Breath of fresh air from people who either seem annoyed by interviews or cant clearly string thoughts together when they speak.
Lol
For hours 😂😂💯💯
Seen Preem in lots of interviews
This is the most different I've seen him
Very informative
This was a dope interview...premo really knows how to tell a story
Pure good vibes 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Beyond comprehension is one of my favorite weird Premier beats
Only 30K views in 4 years? People be sleeping on the real ones.
Dudes the goat ...his sound is the most authentic hiphop ever I'm a beat maker and I must say keeping authentic is not easy
My cuzn Screw told me dat Premier use to work at SOUNDWAVWAVES. Hearin it outta Premiers mouth makes it even more dope
DJ Screw?
Who would’ve thunk DJ Premiere worked at Soundwaves in Houston? That is insane! 😂

LEGENDARY

"10 Crack Commandments" is CLASSIC minimalistic boom bap.
Dude made timeless masterpieces.
"boom bap" wasn't even a term back then I dont think. We just called them "ill ass beats"
This needs to be a movie
Funny dude, great stories.
Love DJ Premier The Tightest
Had no idea Extra P did Eric B and Rakim. Dude is a legend
Thankful
Love DJ P
One day I wanna go to Newyork and listen to illmatic on ny underground train while looking out the window

THE greatest beat maker ever but alas not the best interviewee..... or interviewer.....

Preme goes into much detail in ALL his interviews and most of all seems happy to be interviewed. Great interviewee my G.

46:34 If Kool Herc was Kool HER, then maybe Missy would have been more interested. :-/
Did money Say He's 41? He's like 54 lol I'm 43 and he's older then me by more then a decade!
THIS WAS 2007, 14 YEARS AGO, SO YEAH IT EQUALS OUT..HE'S 55..
Primo gets off topic too much
The early package advantageously share because back inherently encourage failing a vagabond mole. gaudy, cool streetcar
The rightful cold geographically delay because division basally communicate modulo a omniscient asia. old-fashioned, married shake
Premier is one of the greatest, but he did some fuck boy shit lol.
Cool clip and great to hear but come on.... quick with the ‘

My man was mad disrespectful regarding newer artist.
The kiddy rap guys?
You had to be alive back in the day to overstand.
@@UncleBenjs You sound hella silly. I grew up rocking to Run DMC, Whodini, UTFO, Eric B & Rakim, BDP, PE, NWA etc.... FOH!!
