Why couldn't he just do a network specifically for indie animation. His a successful animator that could help so many young animators find a place to start and share their creations. This would have helped more then another regular "family friendly" network, which people already have.
There was that Noog Network app which I think was a prototype for something like that. But I think it's kind of dead since he doesn't mention it anymore at the end of his videos like he used to. Probably the biggest blow to that app was that you had to pay to download it. It deterred me away from checking it out as I'm sure the same can be said for a bunch of others.

If i had the money Butch had, i would have sure as hell been well on my way to getting this accomplished and started small. Wouldve taken business classes and ect to get something like that done, even if it was just shorts. People want to see original GOOD content and indie is great for opening that up. it would have easily gotten new content continuously rather than doing this entire kickstarter that tries to cater to too much at one time. -
It is a very complicated story. I wasn't allowed to watch most of the Nickelodeon programing, excluding Nick Jr, as a small child for various reasons. I think my parents excuse for why I could not watch "Fairy Odd Parents" was because it has magic in it. Ironically it appears now that Butch is trying to pander to the same audience that disapproved of his shows. P.S. Now, that I am an adult I have tried to watch some of the kids shows that I wasn't allowed to as a kid. Most of them seem pretty stupid or dated to me now. However, I assume it is because I have no nostalgia for them.
I'm going to age myself here but as a 5-6 year old, my favorite movie was "Stephen King's It". Had it on VHS, Mom liked to record off the television. 😆 One time, a school friend came over to watch it but my parents had accidentally recorded over "It" with a random pornographic film. Somewhere in our home, my mom heard the shitty, deep bassy music and sexy moans. She ran into the living room and practically ripped the 30 lb VCR out of the wall. Great childhood memory. 10/10
It's not about the concept of the show's story, it's about what images are being shown to the viewer. If you had a brain, you'd realize that Butch's shows are in the child-friendly category, as there's no gore, intense violence, or sex scenes, which is the main point for his video service.

BUT the artist that worked on Fairly Odd Parents, Danny Phantom, and Tuff Puppy are a different artist as well. I'm not sure how and if butch HELPED with the art but the finishing artists are what did most of the work. the sharp pointy lines are super iconic and i've only seen people talk about the artist recently from all this drama.

The family in the beginning of the video are actually the family that runs a small church I attend. They are some of the most fantastic people I've ever had the pleasure of being around who do a lot for the community and abroad. I've also had a conversation with butch when he went to the same church I did and hes a real stand up guy. Their hearts truly are in the right, but I can see your criticism.

I feel like Butch is gonna be in for a rude awakening trying to sell this to any kid over maybe 8. There is always a market for absurd cartoons like ren and stimpy but ren and stimpy worked because it was somewhat adult. Just making a gross incomprehensible show for the sake of making something "appealing to kids" doesn't work on the older ones. Basically, he's probably gonna make a bunch of really, really safe trite thats not gonna interest most kids. Popular cartoons now tend to be much darker, at least more mature, than Butch's nick era of episodic content. Plus I feel like the controversial aspects of most cartoons now are NOT gonna fly on his network. So no Steven Universe esque pushing the envelope for canon gay relationships, no over the garden wall level "holy shit this is for kids" factor, no gravity falls dark overlying story, no adventure time philosophical mindfuckery. Basically, all the cool shit to an extent.
This makes me really glad my parents - both relatively conservative Christians - never bought into the “Pureflix” or family-friendly media thing. I watched PBS alongside classic movies and adult-shows in the vein of CSI as a kid and was a devout horror novel fan since elementary school, and I grew up fine.

When someone like Bitch Fartman says "family friendly," what they actually mean is "no positive depictions of LGBT people or characters allowed." They just say "family friendly" to avoid getting called out like the cowards they are, and because they view any positive LGBT content as inherently inappropriate no matter how mild and non-sexual it is. Though if they can be used for a cheap laugh, then he might allow it. He ignored the many questions about whether Oaxis would be LGBT friendly on purpose.
Even before looking at the Kickstarter page, these were my thoughts exactly the second he said, "but let's keep it CLEAN" with that condescending expression and tone. An earlier comment suggested that video of a subscriber's gay wedding likely wouldn't make it past the filter and I'd bet they are right. I suspect there would be a moratorium on 'heavy' subjects such as mental health or religion, or, as you mention in your comment, only allowed if a cheap laugh can be had. Bad vibes all round.

Well, it raised $268,134 and the project is still on-going. The latest updates was from Jan 2019 where he said he blew the money to film a show for the network but mentioned nothing about actually building the platform. He also said he's looking for someone to help him out by investing in the order of $50M. A year later I doubt he got anyone to invest in this at all. So yeah, this is once again a tax on the stupid.

I mean it can, I've seen it personally. It's just a majority of the audience is adults and youtube as an entity has too much riding on adult centered entertainment (Not referring to porn, just to clarify.) so banning kids stuff just doesn't work, also kids naturally gravitate towards foreign material because its unique and different, so for instance Anime. Video Games (For the short while they were fresh. And also new types of games etc.). So just because youtube (the fuck up of a company it is.) can't manage it's stuff because it A: Makes them money. And B: Costs them money to manage. Doesn't mean you can't have something like that. Plus (I hated that Charlie made this point.) It's not always! The parents fault, for instance child locks on phones are not infallible. You have to pay to block porn sites (not even joking.). And also the ratings on movies are very lenient, for instance a PG-13 movie has the F word in it (It's allowed once I think.) as well as sex references etc. And there are lots of movies that seem "kid friendly" that are rated for adults etc, such as Deadpool, lots of parents took their kids to see that and they were thoroughly surprised at it. And it takes a lot of work to look out for that stuff even if you aren't closely monitoring everything they watch (even then stuff slips through the cracks.), plus essentially what Charlie is asking for parents to do is to take the child's agency as a child away by having to closely monitor everything they consume. If you could think about it from a parents perspective having an app or something that doesn't allow adult media and doesn't allow for such things helps, and then all you have to do is block their access to apps and monitor their google stuff or block certain sites from popping up and put the settings under password protection (which is still a lot of work, and requires a lot of set up which is why it's still very fallible by the parents, even by a normal tech-savvy person.). I also dislike his whole "children are people too!" argument, like Butch never explicitly said "All kids are exactly the same." or "Kids all share the same opinion." Some kids are fascinated by gore, and guts and unique things that seem bad. They get a thrill out of it, now the thing is, it still frightens them. So the Exorcist probably shouldn't have been seen as good by the kid because he wouldn't have got why it was so influential or interesting, the little girl literally calls them cocksuckers and other stuff etc. So to him the movie should've been "Ehh this is kind of scary, and boring." And unless the kid was lying and trying to appeal to adults to get their attention (Which is a big problem, mainly because parents rarely if ever give attention to their children, so they then seek the attention of others and then need a way to appeal to them hence.) he probably would have had to have seen or known about adult stuff to get it. Ya know a kid knowing the word Fuck, doesn't mean he understands the severity of it, it's the contexts he learns it in that tells you of what he was learning. "It seems like media today is just meant to shock us." -brings up a movie from 1973.
Why couldn't he just do a network specifically for indie animation. His a successful animator that could help so many young animators find a place to start and share their creations. This would have helped more then another regular "family friendly" network, which people already have.
There was that Noog Network app which I think was a prototype for something like that. But I think it's kind of dead since he doesn't mention it anymore at the end of his videos like he used to.
Probably the biggest blow to that app was that you had to pay to download it. It deterred me away from checking it out as I'm sure the same can be said for a bunch of others.

It is a very complicated story. I wasn't allowed to watch most of the Nickelodeon programing, excluding Nick Jr, as a small child for various reasons. I think my parents excuse for why I could not watch "Fairy Odd Parents" was because it has magic in it. Ironically it appears now that Butch is trying to pander to the same audience that disapproved of his shows.
P.S. Now, that I am an adult I have tried to watch some of the kids shows that I wasn't allowed to as a kid. Most of them seem pretty stupid or dated to me now. However, I assume it is because I have no nostalgia for them.

They are some of the most fantastic people I've ever had the pleasure of being around who do a lot for the community and abroad. I feel like Butch is gonna be in for a rude awakening trying to sell this to any kid over maybe 8. There is always a market for absurd cartoons like ren and stimpy but ren and stimpy worked because it was somewhat adult. Just making a gross incomprehensible show for the sake of making something "appealing to kids" doesn't work on the older ones. Basically, he's probably gonna make a bunch of really, really safe trite thats not gonna interest most kids. Popular cartoons now tend to be much darker, at least more mature, than Butch's nick era of episodic content. When someone like Bitch Fartman says "family friendly," what they actually mean is "no positive depictions of LGBT people or characters allowed." They just say "family friendly" to avoid getting called out like the cowards they are, and because they view any positive LGBT content as inherently inappropriate no matter how mild and non-sexual it is. Though if they can be used for a cheap laugh, then he might allow it. He ignored the many questions about whether Oaxis would be LGBT friendly on purpose.
Even before looking at the Kickstarter page, these were my thoughts exactly the second he said, "but let's keep it CLEAN" with that condescending expression and tone. An earlier comment suggested that video of a subscriber's gay wedding likely wouldn't make it past the filter and I'd bet they are right. I suspect there would be a moratorium on 'heavy' subjects such as mental health or religion, or, as you mention in your comment, only allowed if a cheap laugh can be had. Bad vibes all round.

Well, it raised $268,134 and the project is still on-going. The latest updates was from Jan 2019 where he said he blew the money to film a show for the network but mentioned nothing about actually building the platform. He also said he's looking for someone to help him out by investing in the order of $50M. A year later I doubt he got anyone to invest in this at all. So yeah, this is once again a tax on the stupid.

I mean it can, I've seen it personally. It's just a majority of the audience is adults and youtube as an entity has too much riding on adult centered entertainment (Not referring to porn, just to clarify.) so banning kids stuff just doesn't work, also kids naturally gravitate towards foreign material because its unique and different, so for instance Anime. Video Games (For the short while they were fresh. And also new types of games etc.).
So just because youtube (the fuck up of a company it is.) can't manage it's stuff because it A: Makes them money. And B: Costs them money to manage.
Doesn't mean you can't have something like that. Plus (I hated that Charlie made this point.) It's not always! The parents fault, for instance child locks on phones are not infallible. You have to pay to block porn sites (not even joking.). And also the ratings on movies are very lenient, for instance a PG-13 movie has the F word in it (It's allowed once I think.) as well as sex references etc. And there are lots of movies that seem "kid friendly" that are rated for adults etc, such as Deadpool, lots of parents took their kids to see that and they were thoroughly surprised at it. And it takes a lot of work to look out for that stuff even if you aren't closely monitoring everything they watch (even then stuff slips through the cracks.), plus essentially what Charlie is asking for parents to do is to take the child's agency as a child away by having to closely monitor everything they consume.
If you could think about it from a parents perspective having an app or something that doesn't allow adult media and doesn't allow for such things helps, and then all you have to do is block their access to apps and monitor their google stuff or block certain sites from popping up and put the settings under password protection (which is still a lot of work, and requires a lot of set up which is why it's still very fallible by the parents, even by a normal tech-savvy person.). I also dislike his whole "children are people too!" argument, like Butch never explicitly said "All kids are exactly the same." or "Kids all share the same opinion." Some kids are fascinated by gore, and guts and unique things that seem bad. They get a thrill out of it, now the thing is, it still frightens them. So the Exorcist probably shouldn't have been seen as good by the kid because he wouldn't have got why it was so influential or interesting, the little girl literally calls them cocksuckers and other stuff etc. So to him the movie should've been "Ehh this is kind of scary, and boring." And unless the kid was lying and trying to appeal to adults to get their attention (Which is a big problem, mainly because parents rarely if ever give attention to their children, so they then seek the attention of others and then need a way to appeal to them hence.) he probably would have had to have seen or known about adult stuff to get it.
Ya know a kid knowing the word Fuck, doesn't mean he understands the severity of it, it's the contexts he learns it in that tells you of what he was learning.
So how could he have liked it if he didn't understand it?
