At the time of composition, minimum wage was $9 in Michigan, and the composer had worked several jobs for less. Still, the minimum wages remains $9 or lower in several states, while the cost of living continues to rise. Recorded at Fine Arts Building, Interlochen Center for the Arts, MI.
