Hey man, I am a flowerhorn breeder and just to give you a heads up, I'd bet my next house payment that is a female flowerhorn. I personally love my females even more than my males as they are the bringers of new life into this world, so don't think me saying this is anything other than an observation. When you have brought several tens of thousands of a species into this world you begin to get an eye for this type of thing. Honestly though, I mostly can make this determination from the scale of the eye to the total height of the head and the length of the dorsal fin; the eye on a female is generally 1/4th the total height of the head, while a males is more 1/6th, but the bigger indicator is the length of the dorsal fin... a female flowerhorns dorsal fin tends to be rounded and rarely is longer in length than the caudal fins length, while a males comes to a point and more often than not grows longer than the length of the caudal.
Thank you. Appreciate the knowledge
Pumped for all these new videos, hope this dude gets well
Thank you. Appreciate that
MASS Aquariums hey mike, I’m gonna be in Lowell later today. Any fish stores in that area worth checking out?
Not sure. Don’t really get up that far north. Han Aquatics
Best of luck with him! Man when you do get him healthy that tank will be awesome. I love the simplicity of it.
Thanks dude
My flowerhorn is popping like black worms like structured poop after feeding him frozen blood worms. Is it normal please confirm
Same with mine. I don’t think it’s normal
@@MASSAquariums how did you treat him please tell me
hope it helps....love flowerhorns....
Me too
P.S. API General Cure will also treat Hexamita but not round worms. It works fairly well but can suppress the appetite until its removed from the water column. If you suspect Hexamita, go with Metroplex.
👍🏻
General cure api will pretty much de worm any fish! Anytime i have problems with white poop knocks it right out within the week. Awesome fish! Hope he’s feeling better !
I was thinking of grabbing a bottle
I just dosed my tank with this hoping he gets better
Mike, you can also dose Fenbendazole directly into water column. Its effective for round worms in fish. If you can get a sample of your fish's poop, your vet can examine under a microscope for a more definitive diagnosis. Also, you can usually see the worms protruding from the fish's vent. Piperzine is another wormer you can dose directly into water column. It's not as common to see tapeworms. PraziPro will treat tapeworms (I believe). You also want to make certain it's not Hexamita. Similar symptoms. Metroplex dosed in the water column or mixed with food will treat Hex. Finish one treatment and run carbon and do water changes before start a different treatment. Also keep lights out to reduce stress when he's not feeling well. I'm glad he's eating. Usually it takes awhile. Some of the meds suppress the appetite (especially anything with Prazi). Try Mysis shrimp. Maybe easier on inflamed gut than blood worms. Good luck with your little guy.
Thanks for the tips. Appreciate it
EverythingAquatic.net has a binder free Fenbendazole powder that you can dose directly into water column. If it's round worms they usually pass them pretty quickly.
Mike. Reach out to Dena at EverythingAquatic.net
She is very knowledgeable about treating parasites and her line is very pure, no fillers. Safer for fish and less interactions when combining meds.
Your a really good fish daddy...i know cat and dog owners call their babies furbaby...what do fish parents call themselves...scale babies....finbabies....waterbabies..
Glad he is feeling a little better..
Thank you. No clue. I’ve been calling him asshole lately 😂😂😂
Best of luck with dilly dilly , Hope he stays on the up and up
Me to Ry. Getting tired of this shit 😂
My male and female have it right now. It sucks

Poor guy, it would be a great story to tell if he beats all of this!
He’s coming along. Back from certain doom
Good luck intestinal parasites are more common than most people give credit for...

Mike from Mass, I like the double-ended pipe aeration set up! I reckon my Gold Ram got worms through frozen blood worms.

Such a bummer. My flowerhorn has been a blast from day one. Hope this turns around for you. They are so rewarding I feed mine some thawed shrimp and fish like haddock or something. Try that

Whats the name of that Fritz product to treat parasites?
I believe it’s Propel E
I bought my flowerhorn just yesterday and he is not taking feed and also inactive
And main thing he is doing white poop please help me to cure him...
Is it because of full new environment and new water??
Same thing. I believe they are just not a very strong healthy fish
