10:41 Eddie is definitely gay-coded. The actor talks about it in the commentary. He's gay-coded in the book, too. Dennis Christopher (adult 1990 Eddie) also loves how much the fans love the Richie/Eddie dynamic in both the miniseries and 2017/2019 versions - he seems like such a sweetheart

No he isn’t. In the book, Eddie had a mild crush on Bev, one of the rich girls named Greta, and married a woman named Myra.
@@supertink80 yes that's true, but a lot of Pennywise's torments towards Eddie have to do with how he's effeminate, small, etc. There's one scene where Pennywise presents himself as (I think) a homeless man who offers oral sex to Eddie, combine that with all the instances where Pennywise uses Eddie's fear of germs/getting sick and the message you get is that Eddie struggles with "impure"/dirty thoughts regarding his sexuality.
The fact that Eddie married a woman who is just as controlling and shitty as his mother has more to do with repressed feelings and trauma from years of abuse/Munchausen by proxy from his mother.
As for the crushes when he was a kid: when you're that age (especially in the '50s or '60s, like in the book), you don't realise that you even can have same sex attraction, so you do what you think you're supposed to and pick an opposite sex person to have a "crush" on. Go back and read how he talks about Greta and that other girl, he doesn't seem that interested. As for his crush on Bev: all the losers in the book liked Bev in one way or another, but if you remember the infamous child *rgy scene, Eddie does NOT want to do it and they basically force him to so that they can beat Pennywise ):

Well, there’s a theory (specifically by MatPat on Film Theorists) that these kids possess the shine like from The Shining. That’s why no-one else can see the stuff IT does, because the shine allows people to communicate with supernatural figures. In the book, they are also said to have telekinesis. And the reason why they possess this power because they are victims of abuse. Sexual, bullying, racism, outsiders, stuff like that.
While I was typing this, I also noticed there was a movie poster that advertised “The Glowing”, obviously a reference to “The Shining”. Y’know, because ‘Glowing’ and ‘Shining’ are synonyms. I know this doesn’t mean anything, but it’s just a funny reference.
That, and got the crap kicked out of IT from being shoved on its side by 4 remaining losers, then punched and kicked a bunch before IT's heart got ripped out of its chest by Bill...literally.
I mean it is just the personification of fear itself.. that if you dont fear it and are willing to fight then you have already won over fear

Nah Skarsgard would ruin it and it would ruin his whole character. 2017 Pennywise is a ruthless monster throwing up a purposely terrible "playful clown" facade where Tim Curry's Pennywise was more of a monolithic evil power who wanted to have fun with his food.

I honestly never understood the hate for the spider at the end. I think it looks fantastic. Very cool practical effects.
