My sunroof glass cracked and Tesla refused to cover it under my extended warranty. I found replacement glass in a salvage yard. Installed it in just a few min. Saved a lot of money because you took the time to post this video. Thank you!!!
Two things; Men, I love the sound of crickets. The only way I can hear them now (56 years old) is thru recordings. Here in Norway they are not that loud so I've missed them the last years... I always use brake cleaner in place of alcohol (well at least when I am cleaning things 🤣). My personal experience is that it cleans better. Very good movie, now I finally knows what lives on the other side of the glass 🙂
Appreciate your video. My 2013 had a problem with wind noise and coming home from work on the highway A couple days ago it started to bounce up and down in the back. And of course at leaked water when it rained later. The seal had broken between the frame and the glass. Tessa was $500 to reseal it and adjust it.
Hi, you can check to make sure screws didn’t come lose and see if it’s the front deflector making the sound as it goes up/down maybe something is caught or stuck.
It's weird the difference between the 2013 and 2016. Mine has a full rubber strip that goes all the way across the back and wraps over those pieces you are putting the pads on, completely cover them.
@@PrivateCitizen1214 I think when I got my car the sunroof had been replaced by the shoddy second-hand dealership I bought it from. Mine was separating because none of the double-sided attachment strips were attached correctly and the sunroof actually started to come off. I did something really stupid and tried to silicone seal the entire perimeter between the glass and the sunroof frame. Long story short within a week I was scheduling an appointment with Tesla because the sunroof had cracked halfway across. That double-sided foam strips that holds the glass to the frame allow for flex and siliconing it made it too rigid and caused a stress crack. Insurance covered it with no deductible which is great but a couple days after picking it up I can still hear air leaking in the back of the sunroof after 60 mph and Tesla wants to charge me $1,200 to completely reseal and adjust the sunroof. Really irritates me because there is a rip in the seal in the front because it didn't close properly after I picked it up from them and it caused a tear which is their fault but they don't want to cover it.
I just use my iPhone 8. Either I hold it in my hand or prop it up on something if I need two hands to do something. I can use Apple Watch to start/stop phone recording if needed.
@Johnathon Smith; there’s nothing to add it’s part of standard Apple software on watch. It looks like a pic of a SLR camera on the watch screen that shows the apps

Brake Cleaner….. I’ll have to give it a try! 😊
Just curious, did you do anything with the tesla toolbox? It mentions "calibrating" it as the last step in service manual.
No I didn’t. Just reinstalled. Maybe if I had removed or adjusted the actual mechanism I would have needed to do that.
Interesting, I’ll try this once I lubricate the rails
Please let me know how you make out.
Had a hard time hearing you. Thanks for sharing, great video!
Randy Green ; thank you for the comment, still new/learning how to make good videos so this helps.

The sunroof actually just closes a bit too far and I think you have to plug it in to a Tesla service computer to make that adjustment.
Whats your camera set up. Watch? App?

@@PrivateCitizen1214 with the watch are you able to stop and start? View from watch?
@Johnathon Smith; yes open app on phone and select video. Then from app on watch you can start and stop the recording and take a pic also if you want
