Hello sir, just wanted to say that I appreciate your thoroughness, stable camera work, and production style. This video has been a great help, thank you from California
The green marks on all the nuts and bolts are done at the factory to show they have been tighten to the correct spec, an easy visual conformation afterwords
This was great. I was so scared of the air suspension - but this is straight forward. The compressor, does it have a waste gate? Mine sounds like it had a blowoff valve, of sorts. Pump pump pump, pssssht. Like air brakes. Thanks for the thoughts!
My 2016 90D started making that tapping sound last week. It's been driving me crazy in trying to figure out what that is. I'm gonna give that nut job a try.
@@InternetDude it was a loose lug nut lol. I re torqued them and haven't had the problem sense. I've literally never had that happen before. But it might be because of the wheel spacers.
Hi Paul Great video, thanks for posting. I’ve been chasing that rattling sound you speak of for two years myself. I have a 2012 S and it too was in a front end accident. I think I may have finally located the issue. Check your upper control arms where they connect on each side of the strut tower. Mine were cracked on driver and passenger side. Very hard to see unless you’re looking for it. Hope this helps.
Another great video Paul. It looks like you could do with a new front tyre, you've a couple of cuts to the sidewall there. Can you give us an idea what your charge times are like with different chargers please ?
I hope you can get your bag of nuts sorted Paul, it sounds painful! And as we're talking about torquing, just a note about tightening wheel nuts. Alloy wheels really should be torqued using the star pattern method. When you first install an alloy wheel, only tighten the nuts/bolts lightly, then lower the vehicle so the tire touches the ground, not full weight though. Your method after that should be at least partly like a cylinder head. Half the torque setting in a star pattern, then full torque in a star pattern. The main issue being that it has been known that an alloy wheel might crack if this method isn't followed. I was a tire fitter for about 6 years when allow wheels were just beginning to become available not just on Porsches etc. I'm sure some peeps will say they've never bothered about it and their wheels are fine, but why chance it?
Looking at Tesla‘s service manual it seems the suspension system needs to be topped up with nitrogen after deflation. Do you think you got around this as the pressure was still high enough after your repair?
@@CarsForPaul Is fitting Open Pilot a future thing ? it`s an after market Auto Pilot system, there`s a channel that`s fitted to a VW camper so very adaptable system...
Air suspensions are a pricey option on Tesla Model S & X. It allows easily adjusting ride height and stiffness. Air suspension has been problematic in all cars which use it. Why wags term Jaguar as "Saguar". The less options, the less things to break.
Don’t want to be a Jonah but I think you suspension compressor is on the way out( not quite). If you get time take a looke at the motor casing/ big end to see if there’s water in there , know it sounds unlikely but if so the bearing getting some drying out and lube may save more expense. ( £300 approx)

Curious why you didn’t select jack mode from the on-screen service menu?

It would be interesting to see the bellows stripped off to actually see the damage beneath. Maybe that’s why the design was changed on later models

Sounds like brakes or possibly the half shaft needs replaced. We lubed my hub and helped but noise went away fully since I just replaced both sides

Wow, good job. I own an S and have been a garage mechanic all my life, but this is a couple of nothces too high for me. Cudos for sharing 👍🏻

With my granny charger is about 14 hours to get to 80%, at work its about 3 hours
what is the torque setting needed for this repair? Thanks for your video, awesome!
Hey Paul, did you ever figure out what the mysterious noise was you mentioned at the end of the video?
thankyou Paul,im sure youll be glad when all the work is complete on that tesla,,its been very interesting though,.
have a good week,,👌👍

Could be the brake pads rattling in the carrier. Quite common with some aftermarket pads
Yep, I think you are right as it goes away if I brake over the speed ramp.
@@CarsForPaul easy enough to check. Just pull the wheel off and see if the pad moves up/down

@@CarsForPaul teslas are known for this
Well done Paul great car you must be over the moon 🌙👌
Great video. Hope you find the annoying rattle. TT RS
Hi Paul, have you figured out that banging noise in the suspension. I have the same issue. Thanks in advance.
Hey, Thanks for your video! Have you found the reason of the rattling?
Did you figure out what was making the noise?
That compressor sounds knackered
What was The, stuff you put in except the spray? MS-13
Where they Nordlock washers fitted behind the rear hub nut?
Is it safe to support the front of the car on one stand in the middle of the crossmember like that? I don't think that's an approved mounting point.
So bad that these components are failing on such a young aged car.
Not so sure about these electric cars...Was it hard to source parts?
Sounds like Brakes to me, not suspension. 😊
Could be the brake discs
needs more grease, needs to be injected by a needle to ger rid of that noise.

Torque specs?
can't you just take out the air suspension compressor fuse instead of unplugging it?
Cast help but thinking there is something missing from that bay!
The more i see of these Teslas the more i think what horrible cars they are, big props for tackling one Paul.

That’s the brakes
Air suspension
in all my life working on cars I've never seen anybody having to fatarse about,I DONT WANT A TESLA,I will keep my small diesel that gets me 65-70 mpg.
It's time to get the Audi off the ramp so you can use it
Takes wheel off and says hub is off. Then says knock the hub in. Joker 🃏
your a man of brown skin colour but could not sound more
native british. made me laugh.
fixing it? You just replaced the part ffs!
So Tesla is shit waste of money
So a well balanced judgement there. English grammar failed ?
Fan boi hurt, 😂🤣🤣 have to do it on mine too, shit waste of money,
paul buy a new support that you use in the video doesn't look very sturdy safety first
