Hi Apostle Joe, I love the Porsche 911 Carrera I feel like this is the Apostle to the sports cars and I love the "fake vents" and without them, the numper would look rather boring.

If you don't care about money and future cost of ownership you can go porsche . Won't be as exciting as C8 but will do what it does well and out perform its specs and HP ratings , but you will overpay , particulary if you option it . If I'm gonna spend base porsche or S money with options instead I'm getting a base Z06 non Z07 . Base NA 6.2 I TRUST more then a newish 3.0 porsche engine needing boost to get the power, more strain on small displacement and complication. The NA vette engine is tried and true . If you can actually order a base porsche and avoid the options and just be happy to have a competent sports car that's not loud or particulary exciting its gonna be good . Base 911s at times were really underwhelming in past like a base 996 with tiptronic that felt like a toyota that resembled a 911 , truly unexciting car for the money . 3.0 liter seems weak for a car this expensive but the turbo getting close to 400 hp and 0-60 in 4 sec isn't brutal fast but that's by today's standards , and in reality is quick and wont overwhelm you so you can thrash it a bit mkre without getting in over your head as easily . Some people for reasons I grasp don't want to stand out and be flashy , want to be understated . But strictly based on Value and ability to get more bang for buck C8 wins hands down. If you option the C8 to high heaven that's a mistake IMO and misses the point . The Z06 non Z07 starts with more standard equipment and has one of the best engines today and the E-ray is similar and priced great and if you don't option crazy you have a sick car for price that's super useable and super fast plus AWD .
The stock exhaust sounds fine to me. Raiti, little known, on non "sports exhaust" Carreras (base and S) you can spec sport tail pipes. These are round quads that take the place of these dual rectangular outlets--twin per side. This does not give you the "sports exhaust" and oddly you cannot get these on models so equipped - will still presumably sound the same as this stock dual set up -- but to me is the best LOOKING set up of them all, and really picks up the look of the regular base 911 (or non sports exhaust S for that matter). Regarding the shifter, it still confounds me that Porsche went this route. Not only not very substantial, it got rid of the +/- at the console which many find more engaging (and less distracting). Not everybody either likes the paddles or wants to use them every time you want to manually shift,.... depending on the mood or situation. The nice thing about the 991.2 and earlier was you could have it both ways, again depending... and they took that choice away.
It’s a lot of money for a base model. You could get a 2023 Zo6 for the same price as the entry/base Porsche model. Porsche is honestly driving me away with the outrageous markups and pricing.

All of your problems with the car short of its size can be fixed with more money(options) , and the sense not the spec some things (like sports suspension)
@@billnorblat4047 I actually had all of those options. I agree the size is a problem but for me at least, it was much more than just size - it was various issues taken together. @@SamA-nf7wy Oh sorry, wasn’t specifically referring to the PDK. There is no doubt that this is one of the best, if not the best, in the business. I was referring to Porsche in general. People almost go on like their reliability is perfect. That is far from the case. They’ve had their problems over the years too. That’s all I was saying.
I love your comments on the Carrera. That color is gorgeous. A friend of mine sold his white Carrera 4. I’m not a fan of the color white. I had a white 78 Pontiac TransAm. He had the blue wheels & interior. I forget the name of the shade of blue. It was an automatic & it was a 400 engine. Don’t remember the pound feet. It took 6 months or longer to order. Due to the Smokey & The Bandit Movie in 77 Pontiac couldn’t make the TransAm Fast enough. Anyway the Carrera 4 looked larger than the Carrera itself. Is that possible? Does the 4 stand for 4 wheel or All wheel drive? I love the Porsche Carrera. I could never afford not to mention the car insurance.
I’ve driven both to be honest the c8 is an amazing car and you can’t deny its value proposition. I just feel like in the stock form it’s little underwhelming in the mid-to top end being naturally aspirated and the base model. The 911 is fun in all the gears to me because I hear the turbo whistling and the exhaust popping off behind me and it it’s more pretty to me aesthetically but I must admit the c8 will always get more attention, for me that’s more of an incentive to buy it, I don’t want the attention: I just wanna enjoy the car.
In my view, the Porsche entry level surpasses the Corvette C8 due to its notable resale value, impeccable fit and finish, enhanced durability, and a more exclusive presence - avoiding ubiquity with a less common sight in parking lots, adding a sense of exclusivity to the driving experience.
Yeah the times are not favorable, the war in Ukraine is affecting the manufacturing. I think they do wire harnesses in Ukraine. I paid msrp for my 2024 gts but I have a history with Porsche. If you are a new client then the dealer will want a premium. Corvette was doing g it too not too long ago. Only difference is that the demand for a corvette is so inferior that they are already sitting on the lots at a discount. 911s are coming in on a per customer order bases and when they order gets canceled someone else is ready to pick it up. Definitely not good times to buy one if you don’t have a relationship with a dealer
That’s a tough question 🤔 I love both cars so much it would have to come down to what model ZR1 or Z06 vs GT3RS Turbo S ? Plus what one comes stick, I want that new 911 S/T so bad the GT3 & Turbo S would be runners up so I guess Porsche wins for me because the Corvette is only automatic and I don’t care about top speed, I want to become one with the car I’m driving.
Yes. Not only because it’s just a better car but also because the 911 is available globally whereas the C8 is mostly only available in the USA and a handful of other markets.
I personally believe these are the best wheels you can get on this car. I also would spec my 911 with the most steel I can get - I really don't like an all blacked out look

@@nicholasrucinski1651 My 40th anniversary 996 (2004) was one of the top 5 cars I ever owned. Thanks for your comments!
All of your problems with the car short of its size can be fixed with more money(options) , and the sense not the spec some things (like sports suspension)
@@billnorblat4047 I actually had all of those options. I agree the size is a problem but for me at least, it was much more than just size - it was various issues taken together. Later, I had both a Ferrari Roma and a Lamborghini Huracan Evo RWD. Both were much more fun, although of course more expensive.
@@shuaibshariff2797those are bad ass cars but awd is a must these days. Rwd compromises handling in certain situations. Rwd is Fun on the track but awd is must when the road becomes slick
I have both. Stingray will get looks and turn heads but is the 911 all day everyday.
And why do you care for getting looks from irrelevant people?
Beautiful car for this review. I wished you would’ve shown what the sunroof looked like opened.
Sounds better than an atmospheric motor GT3. IMHO. More fun for less money. I tried both. 😊 I got a base 992.2. Well, it has not arrived still.
Fingers crossed it gets to you soon!
Joe and Lori and Steve keep up the good work real true and I love the video real true 👍
You got it my friend!
Joe please go to Jacksonville lotus and test the Emira. I have one on order and want to see what you think of it.
Porsches transmission is in a league of its own. So reliable and smooth. Perfection.
This idea that they are perfect, perfectly reliable etc is BS.
@@dlj1285 the PDK transmission is flawless. Never had an issue.
The wheels are a throwback design, Fuchs, If you appreciate the tradition of Porsche, that means a lot.
Cool Color!
More exclusive != better
Thanks for listing those great points.
Good call.
Exclusivity? You’re kidding right? Certainly not a Carrera. Dime a dozen. They are everywhere.
joe you need to climb into the frunk sometime
I missed the 2024 C8 comparison info?
$124K for a 4 year old base 911? Are you kidding me? The MSRP for a brand new 2024 is $116K, albeit with no options.
100% correct I was absolutely flawed when I heard the price.
Left some dust from the body shop on the rear hatch hose
This would be plenty for me. Looks so sick
That Porsch looks sweet. The DCT is my only zonk. Needs "the right number of pedals", and a classic H pattern between the seats!
I don’t hate the wheels…….i think you like Porsche Joe. Me too ! 😁
Nice that you can still specify them in stick shift !!!....
They used to say if you can find two adults that can sit in the rear seats of a 911 call ringling brothers immediately.
hi, it is actually 4 pistons on the front and 4 on the back as well
That’s a tough question 🤔 I love both cars so much it would have to come down to what model ZR1 or Z06 vs GT3RS Turbo S ? Plus what one comes stick, I want that new 911 S/T so bad the GT3 & Turbo S would be runners up so I guess Porsche wins for me because the Corvette is only automatic and I don’t care about top speed, I want to become one with the car I’m driving.
"No your GPA wasn't 3.0, it was 2.1" - that one hit me a bit too deep 😄
it must be warm in florida , joe is dressed for summer. It seems a lot for a base 911, but i do like it seems smaller than the Corvette
Nice review sir
Many blessings ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
Yes. Not only because it’s just a better car but also because the 911 is available globally whereas the C8 is mostly only available in the USA and a handful of other markets.
I really like the roads you used.
That is so awesome to hear!
Ummmm Joe…. Costco is discontinuing carrying the churros. Sad day in America, I know… but the chicken bakes are delish… lol
That is terrible. You are right about that.
Tough question…C8 for the win 🥇
I personally believe these are the best wheels you can get on this car. I also would spec my 911 with the most steel I can get - I really don't like an all blacked out look
