Mine arrived yesterday. But I am abroad, gotta wait a month to get me hands on it. I went with the rg556 mostly for the big screen for my old tired eyes. Otherwise probably the retroid 4 would have been my choice. I am pretty excited. Now i gotta choose a simpler handheld for my 6 year old with kids mode, and horizontal layout.
My old eyes still need readers to zoom into focus but my guy...this oled screen. If you haven't seen an oled up close and personal, you aren't ever going back. Load up FinalBurnNeo and love all them damn arcade games BETTER than you remember. Except they are impossibly hard now. ;-) Secondary note, I'm 6'3" and this thing fits in my paws really nicely if you're worried about it. The RP4 pro is more powerful but smaller and my hands end up at poor angles. RG feels good sitting on my fat belly. ;-)
Miyoo mini plus is never suggested as a kid’s device. I think the size and ease of use gets people thinking for kids. But I need to be able to lock her out of menus and things. And as importantly it needs to be simple for me to do it. Also I want it to hook up with the tv.
Damnit, since anbernic seems incapable of building around a modern soc, i wish retriod or somebody would put proper horsepower behind that screen and fix the analog sticks, it would be godly.
Proper horsepower? Compared to what? Odin 2 will give you acsess to a small amount of extra games. Ps2 and equivalent is as good as it gets anytime soon on a handheld anyway. Also a software fix by gamma will improve the sticks alot
@Wicked Gamer & Collector Go to display settings/colors and contrast and turn of auto contrast and you will get rid of the blue tint !! The screen is absolutely perfect !

I own this and your review is fair. I don't know about the value as I only own this one device but I've seen you review a lot of crap...literally (not so much) and figuratively. I knew going in that'd I'd have to tweak for ps2 era stuff. Some of that is just android emulation being what it is. As you said, Windows emulators work better but you have to pay for the horsepower. Definitely not an ideal first timers device for out of box experience (I know I'm just parroting your review). That screen is definitely something to behold in person though. She's a beaut Clark! A biased opinion might even suggest that on a 5.5 inch screen, you don't need to run a higher resolution than native here, which is 1080p. Then again, you might argue OLED is overkill for this device.
