I like your channel in particular because i noticed you skate in rubbish weather. this is the sort of thin I want to learn to do (with right bearings of course). Also your video from a while ago about the megacruiser frames with 100 mm wheels on the mf500 boot inspired me to do the same. I since sold them because my foot grew and now started triskating again on new powerslide next 100
Thank you, great to hear my videos offer inspiration 🙂 The Powerslide Next is an awesome skate, I like it a lot. But I don't like 3x100. ;-) I prefer 3x110 and 3x125, 3x100 feels too small and too short.
I used to open my bearings and ruin them in the process. 😅 I also adopted the WD-40 approach after you told me about it in a previous video of yours. If it doesn't work well in the long run, I'll blame you. 😅
Regarding wet ground, I'm still afraid of it. I got a bit of rain last Saturday while I was coming back home and I almost kissed the floor! 💋
Yeah, removing the shields has utterly ruined two sets of bearings. The shields didn't fit properly anymore and the bearings became unstable. So I'm not going to do that anymore. Luckily, the Wicked bearings are open to one side, so I can easily add some Sonic Super Oil or Cyclon MTB Grease if I want to. I advise you to add some 'real' lubricant as well from time to time.
Skating in the rain is a matter of confidence, I think. And you've got to use your edges. I'm using my outer edges a lot when skating on wet ground. If you skate on your inner edges, your wheels slip away when you apply force. Using you outer edges prevents that. 💪
Avoid painted lines and symbols are the most slick! You will be amazed how much grip you actually have on wet roads.
@@humblegoddess7772 I fully agree! Wet asphalt is still pretty grippy, but painted surfaces are to be avoided. Also dangerous are tiles of smooth natural stone. Those feel super when dry, but are o so treacherous when wet.
Living in the country (UK) where it rains most of the year, i have no choice but adapt to the style of rain skating and now i love wet skating more than dry. Positives of wet skating - slides better, more fun to try different variationa as it is very close to ice skating surface especially when there is moss growing within tarmac. Flat setup moves like wizard setup, can try wizard moves easier. Water puddle jumps...above all wet skating makes you better skater on th dry.
setup and advise after 2 years of strong wet skating:
Decent 165mm mount boot imperial, FRX, rollerblade twister, flying eagle. Frame no longer than 255mm as it hampers agility in wet due to side torque applied on wheels on longer frame force you to apply more power as wheels are not as grippy, wheels no bigger than 84mm so keeps the weight down during jumps. Frame should support only 4 wheels as shorter frame is better with flat setup. Wheels with round profile preferred not more than 85a hardness. Gorilla tape to cover all holes, rustproof bearings.
My setup:
Powerslide Imperial 165mm mount 243mm length.
Gyro F2R 85a 80mm wheels.
Wkd Rustproof bearings.
Gorilla tape plastered everywhere so no water can enter.
This setup has served me more than 100 wet sessions without me changing bearings yet. I clean and dry my wheels after each session as it gets too much gunk flying on the frames from sliding..
Yeah, I agree: rain skating _is_ fun and indeed makes you a better skater. 💪 I’m having big fun though on my 125mm wheels. :-) Those big wheels come in handy when I’ve got to roll through very deep puddles (as you can see in one of my recent shorts).
I’m riding regular Wicked ABEC 9 bearings. I wipe them dry and spray some WD40 or ceramic karting lubricant on them after each sesh and so far, no signs of rust. They keep rolling splendidly, even after hundreds of rainy commutes.
Regular maintenance makes all the difference: utter neglect destroyed both sets of rustproof bearings I used before. 😬
I recorded a fresh rain sesh on Christmas Day, expect it online in a couple of weeks.

Yeah, you should do that! Or you can use one of your 'normal' setups in the rain and just apply WD-40 to get the moisture out of your bearings. 🙂 That's what Bram Bo does.

I see you upgraded the liners. Yes those are the only bad things on Oxelo. I'm waiting for some Twister XT liners for my yellow ones. I also noticed normal 165 mount frames end a bit forward than on other skates.
For me it's the exact opposite, with FR 165 80mm frames they end up slightly shifted backwards on Oxelo, weird. Maybe it depends on size.
@@MrMokey24 That's interesting indeed. Mines are RB rockered aftermarket 165mount, 243mm length frames. That on MF500's.
@@SaccoBelmonte Aha, that's probably because Rollerblade frames are _real_ 165mm frame. Most so-called 165mm frames are actually 180mm frames. They can be mounted on 'real' 165mm skates like the Rollerblade Twister, but depending on the available mounting holes, some frames will not be perfectly centred. Someone I know mounted an RB 3x110 frame on a Powerslide Imperial boot and the result didn't look very nice. 😅 Luckily, the FR 325 fits perfectly on my Oxelo MF500. In combination with the FR3 liner, it feels like I'm riding a top shelf skate. After two years of intense skating, Oxelo's stock liner was totally wasted. And since I'm actually a size 42 instead of a 43 (which I only discovered _after_ buying several 43 skates), the MF500 was fitting too loose, which was just dangerous in combination with 125mm wheels. The FR liner solved that problem: now I've got all the control and responsiveness I need for riding such big wheels.
I'm now actually happy when it rains. 😀

Oí raptor great video bud! I would agree that wd40 is a good option for cleaning and dispersing water but maybe nott for lubing your bearings. In fact after watching this video I’m going to go get myself a can of wd40.

I had a pair of the FR1 125 skates, not a fan of riding flat setups.
I like 3x125. Especially when a slight natural rocker is appearing. 🙂
WD40 works! Except it may slowly eat away anything plastic e.g. cover or bearing cages.
Yeah, and I'm not even too worried about that. The friend who gave me the tip about the WD-40, is riding some bearings that are four years old and have received _dozens_ of WD-40 cures. They still roll. I do think I'll be adding some Sonic Super Oil or even Cyclon MTB Grease from time to time. 🙂

Hi Leo! Well, as you can see in this video, I indeed put a 3x125mm frame on my Oxelo MF500. Your eyes are not deceived. 😎 It’s the FR 325, to be more precise. Which is a great frame that fits _perfectly_ on the MF500 (and MF900) boot.
