I just felt like learning latin in a bit of an impulse and watched this lesson. I cannot believe how much I enjoyed it. It is such a simple yet elegant language. I think the fact that this lesson makes someone with almost no prior exposure to the language, enthusiastic and embraced by the language, shows how great this introductory lesson is. Most introductory lessons are amazingly boring and often discourage learners by making it seem like a chore. I am already in love with this one. I will definitely finish the rest. I just love how I is refered by Ego in latin, it is pretty poetic. So excited to see through the rest.

I wish my Great Gram was still alive. She knew Latin; it would have been fun to practice with her. I remember her telling me over and over again that it wasn't that hard... I didn't believe her. Then recently I started watching some UA-cam channels on esoteric history and again these people are saying Latin isn't that hard. Still, didn't believe them but I decided to just give it a go! Latin isn't as easy as my family and these UA-camrs make it out to be, but I am enjoying the process. This first lesson is very approachable and I feel confident. Every morning I do this lesson and once I have every word and conjugation memorized I will move lesson two! Even though I've listened to this lesson over and over again it's still fun every time. Truly excellent teaching method. I love how you don't overwhelm us right away with a ton of grammar, lengthy verb conjugation charts, and noun declensions. I also really like how you relate the roots of each word to an English word. Latin is a very grammatically complex language, but if you break it down into smaller pieces like you do, it makes it more manageable. I will continue watching your videos for sure.
Thank you! 😃 I'm glad it was helpful! Yeah, I think all languages are easy to learn if they are taught properly and memorizing charts isn't an effective or fun way to go about it.

My parents majored in languages. Dad in Latin, German & English, Mom in French, German & English. Whenever they didn’t want me to understand (around Christmas) what they were saying, they spoke German. Which is quite easily understood if you apply common sense. I took French in my university years long ago, but thought Latin might be fun to pick up. The more you know :)
Man, this could easily be the best free latin course on the internet available to plebs like my humble self. Thank you very much for your excellent work!
As someone that was born in a Latin country, Its interesting to see someone from another country explaining things that we use so often in our language to people that speak English
Thank you so much for this video! I've done some self-teaching with Latin since I've been taking Spanish classes in high school. Learning Spanish made it easier for me to understand how Latin works, so I was able to understand how infinitive verbs were conjugated. I started looking for videos that could help me with pronunciation and what the macrons meant, and your video helped me greatly with that.
Oh, my! I never thought that latin is much easier than Hebrew ang Greek. Since I was a child, I'm fascinated with Latin Words. With the thought it's difficult to learn this language. Can I assume that some or most of English words came from latin? or just few? This is the first vedio I've watch, and I'm so amaze. Thank you.
If you have a good teacher, any language is easy! 😉 English vocabulary is about 30% Latin derived, 30% French derived, 25% Germanic derived, and the rest is Greek and others. And since French is just modern Latin, it's about 60% Latin derived words. So you will find a lot of recognizable words in Latin. I made a video about this, which you can watch here: ua-cam.com/video/p-E6xChzvsI/v-deo.html
I first thought that learning latin would be awful hard but decided to give it a go and it’s actually not that difficult, your teaching method is excellent!
I only speak two languages, English and Spanish. I majored in Bilingual Ed. I enjoyed your tutorial so much. Many of the words mean the same thing in Spanish, so that makes it a bit easier to learn. I just wanted to say: Wow, this was a great lesson, thank you!
I attended high school in the late 1960’s. At my school, Latin was a compulsory subject in grade 9, maybe because the principal was a Latin scholar. I took Latin for 5 years until I graduated from grade 13. I must admit that it helped me to expand my vocabulary in English, although the meaning of the words did not always match. Compared to English the declensions were a nightmare but I later learned that Russian was similar in that respect. Thank you for this series of videos. It is a great refresher.
@@EasyLatin Oh okay. I am also very interested in learning ancient Greek (Homeric). But I live in Bangalore, India. And there are zero classes in all of India for this. Excellent teaching methodology! You introduce a manageably small bit of new information, then present it again repeatedly in varied patterns, constantly mixing new information with the old. It's a learn - and - review process that's great for promoting retention and mastery and for maintaining interest and motivation. You are right about ancient Latin having a hard C and G. In church Latin they were softened to make singing in Latin more melliferous.
Interesting!
It was more like the "C" before "E" and "I" was softened by the end of the Empire, by year 500 AD, the Church just followed the trend.

Wow!!. I've been around the Latin language for around 15 years through the repertoire I sang in a choir. This is incredibly helpful.

Excellent!
Excellent video! I studied latin in school and have been looking to freshen up. Your'e videos have certainly gotten the ball rolling again! Thank you.

Instructions unclear: there’s a demon in my room now.
You can get rid of it by saying: Demonios eunt domus
@@tatumergo3931eunt means enter, doesnt it?
Say VADE RETRO SATANA “begone Satan” from the prayer of St Benedict
CORRECTION
5:39 The slide should read: Tū dormīs
Discipula dormit
As you can hear from the explanation.
BRAVO!
i love you

Woah this beautiful language is so easy easier when you speak Spanish English and French
Yes, they're really helpful aren't they!
As someone that was born in a Latin country, Its interesting to see someone from another country explaining things that we use so often in our language to people that speak English
😂
Thank you so much for this video! I've done some self-teaching with Latin since I've been taking Spanish classes in high school. Learning Spanish made it easier for me to understand how Latin works, so I was able to understand how infinitive verbs were conjugated. I started looking for videos that could help me with pronunciation and what the macrons meant, and your video helped me greatly with that.
Glad it was helpful! Yes, Spanish really helps for learning Latin.
Just found your channel. I studied latin for a semester in high school. Now I’m getting back into it. Very helpful videos, thank you.
Great to hear!
@@EasyLatin thanks a lot, sir. Your teaching technique is great. Easy to follow. And you're really a good teacher. With love from Philippines.

Qui docet, discit! I'm gonna teach my daughter so we can both learn then.
That sounds great! I think it's always good to have someone to study with!
I only speak two languages, English and Spanish. I majored in Bilingual Ed. I enjoyed your tutorial so much. Many of the words mean the same thing in Spanish, so that makes it a bit easier to learn. I just wanted to say: Wow, this was a great lesson, thank you!
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!

Best of luck! I hope this channel helps!
@@EasyLatin Thank you!!!!
I'm glad it's helpful! Yes, Latin can help with learning other languages as the declensions and conjugation are often quite similar.
Really enjoying your channel! it's the best one on youtube because it doesn't try to shove too much into my brain at once.
Glad you enjoy it and it's helpful! Thanks for watching!
You are a phenomenal teacher!!
Thanks!
Man, you are a great teacher. Thank you for this great lesson. It’s really fun following it!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Beautiful lesson. Thank you so much :)
Thanks!
@@EasyLatin :) Do you also give private lessons?
@@priyadarshiniprasad5747 Sorry, no
@@EasyLatin Oh okay. I am also very interested in learning ancient Greek (Homeric). But I live in Bangalore, India. And there are zero classes in all of India for this. It would be of great help if you could please point me towards online classes for the same. Or some really good resource books. Sorry to bother you but the more the better. I know you have a channel for the same. However, I was wondering if I could know as many resources as possible.
Once again, sincere thank you for responding. And thank you very much for the videos.
Excellent teaching methodology! You introduce a manageably small bit of new information, then present it again repeatedly in varied patterns, constantly mixing new information with the old. It's a learn - and - review process that's great for promoting retention and mastery and for maintaining interest and motivation. This is a model for me to use as a teacher of Italian to English speakers. Thank you! You have earned a "Like" for this video and a new subscriber for your channel.
Thanks! I'm glad it was so helpful!
OK one lesson and you got me hooked. Ego studio, all the way to lesson 36. My mother who had Latin in high school and nursing school said Latin makes you a better speller. I'll give it a try.
That's great to hear! Hopefully it works for you!
