Really? I mean at some time pretty recently that this type of modularity was being shown at gun shows for the AR-15 and so many people said oh this is gonna be a come and go thing but you never know this could be the most innovative thing for pistols which is so awesome!
Cant agree more. All I want is a P365 / Glock 43x / Hellcat kind of thing thats also DA/SA. My wet dream would be a micro CZ P-07. All I know of is the Lionheart Vulcan which I handled at Shotshow last year. Its identical in size to a 43x but its a bit expensive.
I find the gun industry to be very stagnant in general. Finally some cool innovation. If this shoots halfway decent and they have a full range of mods this will be great.
The gun industry is ALWAYS going to be stagnant as long as we’re using projectiles pushed by some sort of explosive. How many times can one rehash the same concept over and over again? Until we get a man portable rail gun or some sort of directed energy weapon, gunpowder is it. And building a rail gun or directed energy weapon isn’t the problem. We already have those. The true problem is building a compact yet high enough energy power source that will drive everything while still being light enough to be carried by the average human being. So before any of those weapons can come to the forefront, there’s gonna have to be a revolution in energy generation, energy storage, and energy output. To make a long story short, we’re not there yet. We can’t make the power cells small enough and high output enough to actually be useful. Not yet.
Psa is the only one actually making new products at affordable prices. And I don’t mean affordable as in ghetto blasters I mean it as they make cool shit that doesn’t cost $4k+
Until phased plasma rifles in the 40-watt range become commonplace, firearms will always seem "stagnant." Of course that's form the perspective of people who don't actually build guns for a living. Which is about what, 1% of people? 🤣
The AR-15 is multi-caliber. Think again. The first AR-15 that was thought to be limited to just 5.56mm can also be chambered in .22 LR, 9x19mm, .45 ACP, 10mm, .300 BLK, 8.6 BLK, .458 SOCOM, 6.5 Grendel, .338 ARC, 6mm ARC, etc. The same receiver can be converted to shoot for these calibers.
It's a cool concept and who doesn't like adult legos? I just feel like once you adjust the gun to your liking with the grip angle, grip width, slide, and throw an optic on it, you'll never mess with it again. People compared this to an AR15 but very few people actually swap out the barrels and bolts to change an AR15.
The package idea he mentioned, with all the optional parts included, would actually be a great idea for something like this, rather than having customers buy a base model and then hoping sales a reliable enough to warrant supporting all those options enough to keep costs down. Make a bunch of everything and package them all together, customers don't have to worry about parts being in stock or ordering the wrong thing, and Kriss doesn't have to worry about actually selling enough guns to make the investment worth it. and really, they could probably do that for under $2k, which would make it VERY competitive with other high-end competition/duty guns (staccato).
I'm on day 2 of the flu, so as I get more deliriously tired and onery, the more I feel like I'm there with ya'll, getting the authentic Shot Show experience.
Extremely cool. My main concern would be all the screws, better use loctite and a small torque wrench once you get the gun set up how you want it. $1,300 MSRP really isn’t bad.
@@SmokesKwazukii to me, it looks like it’s set up like some 2011’s are with a steel slide, upper part of the frame is either aluminum or steel, then the grip is polymer. That’s a bit different (and complex to make) than your typical polymer pistol. Could be wrong but that’s what it looks like in the video to Me. Edit: also, how many mags and other accessories it comes with out of the box make a big difference.
I freakin love it but then again, I'm a huge fan of Kriss Vector. It's a sexy looking pistol with a lot of options and there's nothing wrong with that.
Ive been saying this for years lol. Theyre better for hand size too, backstraps are alright for hand shape but they put your thumb farther & farther from the controls. Frontstrap fills your hand without that.
If it streets for around 1100 bucks with 2 mags and all the grip and optics cut hardware color me intrigued. If it streets with both uppers and all the goodies for about 1600 that would be an insane value. I am not surprised that this pistol came from this manufacturer and honestly I’m glad it does because they are an outstanding company when it comes to designs that venture way beyond convention.
Krissy is 10 steps ahead of Ruger with their modularity. They actually HAVE it, not just writing it into the clouds. Fingers crossed they get their supply chain online and we can enjoy this fantastic concept. One of the more useful presentations of TFB from the Shot show. 👍
Yeah, it's kinda funny releasing a pistol with a serialized fire control group that can support different grip modules - and only have *one* grip module available until some undetermined time in the future. So the feature is effectively non-existent.
It's awesome seeing DA/SA guns getting the modular treatment! For some reason every firearms manufacturer keeps putting out Glock clones and acting like it's something we haven't seen before lol.
Had an issue with my vector. They took it back no questions asked and did major replacements and shipped back everything brand new. Kriss at least is gonna stand behind their products and get you fixed up. Just my personal experience.
The modular grip system is a smart touch-being able to customize the angle and size to match your shooting style is a huge win. Add the optics-ready slide and DA/SA setup, and this feels like a pistol built for serious enthusiasts.
I I have their Sphinx and it's absolutely awesome. It's like a Swiss CZ P07, the only issue I had with it was the aftermarket. You couldn't even find night sights for the gun, and that kind of killed it for me anyway. I really want to get one of these. If it has an aftermarket and it's built like the Sphinx, it'll be an awesome gun.
These could actually work if they collaborate with some aftermarket companies to provide support or even if they do it in house as long as they provide options that customers will want. It's a cool concept for those of us who like to tinker. As with most modular platforms it will come down to parts support and pricing. Some people think modularity is gimmicky but if you consider how many versions of and accessories for the Glock gen3 are on the market you can see that there is definitely a demand for it. The aftermarket has essentially made Glock modular. Everyone wants to make their guns unique with the features that they desire. As for pricing I'm always willing to pay a little more for something made in the USA and considering the configuration options built into it, it's not a terrible price. What do y'all think? 🤔
Kriss has a lot of potential with interesting mechanical innovations in the past. I hardly hear about the Vector anymore, the Kard never made it to market, I don't understand why don't just stick with something a little more conventional with a touch of Kriss flare. This whole handgun is a giant point of failure, even if the concept is interesting.
The Vector didn't offer enough at its price point for the civilian market, and the military market for SMGs kind of dried up when it came out, thanks to the evolution of SBRs. (If you needed to engage targets with a compact rifle, would you rather a .45 ACP or .300 BLK?) I'm guessing the Kard looked like it was going to be similar, since it doesn't seem to have gotten much more development. Too bad, since it looked really neat - but if it were expensive for little gain over a conventional handgun it would have been a money loser.
@mattrobson3603 Agreed. They're not bad pieces but like you said, at the cost to engineer, produce, and ship, they just aren't competing with the meta in the market right now. When I see kinda gimmicky pieces like this I fear I'm looking at the death throes of a company, and that's disappointing. They don't necessarily have to make another AR-15 clone. Just something closer in line with the demands of the market. I don't think the market is ever gonna warrant a handgun with more screws than it's magazine capacity.
Yes, because this was clearly designed for every user to randomly keep changing grip angles whenever they feel like it, and not for the user to simply select whichever one feels most comfortable for them.
I could see that if we were just talking about switching between full size and compact grip modules. But I imagine if you wanted the slide & barrel too it would be closer to 2K.
That is a lot cheaper than I thought it would be. I thought my Sphinx was the best CZ75 clone ever made and regret selling it. This is definitely cool.
Oh look another pistol that looks like all other pistols. 1300 dollars. Super. Hey Kriss, how about maybe making mag extensions for the other calibers your Vectors come in?
I think he had the full size slide on the model in his hand, unless you meant the one on the table. Since compacts traditionally are 4 inch barrel (or very close to) guns with 15 round (or maybe a little less) capacity, yes, that slide on the table is compact. The 'fullsize M&P' is very close to 'compact' with it's 4.25" barrel. The only thing really making it full size is the grip. Not that I don't like my M&Ps, they've been great guns.
@cavalieroutdoors6036 That's true, even though they call the M&P a "full size" it's not really and falls into the "compact" category. Of course we live in a world where companies refer to 5" guns as a "long slide". I've always considered a 3" barrel gun a compact and subcompacts are anything underneath. Either way, a 3" Kymera would make a great compact (or whatever someone wants to call it).
Almost got whiplash from this vid after just seeing that blank firing desert eagle thing
We went from no info on a gun to all of it on another, that's like the 0 to 60 of shot show interviews lol.
