    OMG!
I can’t believe Olga and Albert actually provided vocals as well! So nostalgic 🥰
They’re both longtime band members of Shakira’s.
This was actually a Wyclef Jean song first, called “Dance Like This”; it was part of a movie’s OST. I can even hear the original singer (Claudette Ortiz) at one point in Wyclef’s recording. But I really appreciate how Shakira and co. retooled the song with Colombian sounds, and also kept the sampled horn from “Amores Como el Nuestro”. I’m sure her reportedly pitch perfect ears were a nightmare to deal with in the studio, poor sound engineers 😅
Wyclef is an underrated musical genius and a great ambassador of Haiti 🇭🇹 and Shakira is of course Shakira 🥰
    Can’t wait for more Shakira!

The CIA reference has to do with the fact that both Haitians and Colombians being considered third world countries are somehow stigmatized. So they are just implying that with this collaboration they are not doing anything illegal, as the lyrics say "I ain't guilty..it's a musical transaction".
Thanks for doing the review of this track, I enjoyed. The section starting from 35:42 was hilarious because when you isolate those sexy vocals it does sound kind of "pornish". I think Shakira would say those vocals are not meant to be isolated from the main vocals. 🙈

Thanks so much for the insight on the Colombia Haiti references to the CIA. thats fascinating!
As for those other parts. i may just export those vocals and use them as my message tone from now on hahaha they definitely VERY suggestive.

I'd love you to break down, Don't Bother by Shakira. It's one of her more pop rock tracks. Loving all the Shakira breakdowns so far.

@@luffegun perfect but please please include the Iconic and legendary song Ojos Así by Shakira which has a lot of middle eastern flavor combined with rock and pop, and some great vocals from Shakira, plus some arab chanting.

Another great song from Shakira. Thanks for analysing this. Wyclef Jean is a talented musician as well so they created something special with this collaboration. I knew it the first time I heard it at the moment the brass came in and the 'no fighting...' Interesting to hear each element of the song. I believe this is a certified world anthem in my eyes with its underlying message of peace, love and positive promotion of parts of the world that sometimes get overlooked or ignored as 'third world'. Of course the sexy, fun message of attraction and tension are perfection too. 😂 If it is possible, there are a few other Shakira songs that would be interesting to break down and analyse if you can receive the tracks given how the masters sound pretty complex as well including some of the more rockier songs of Shakira's as I know rock is more of her natural genre anyway - Poems To A Horse, Ready For The Good Times, Ojos Así or Eyes Like Yours, Loca, How Do You Do.

Love your analysis on Shakira's songs. She has many great productions to choose from and I've read a lot of suggestions here in the comments but please, go for "La Tortura". This was a massive hit across Latin America and belongs to "Oral Fixation volume one" or "Fijación Oral volumen uno" which has entirely released in Spanish.
    Keep going broo!

This is the live version where her entrance to this song is long and is a lot of instrumentals leading into the song

  • @rpvee

Didn’t realize you already did this one! Well, my theory stands that this is also sourced from Shak’s tour productions, as this is *very* much the song’s extended live version (even featuring her tour band members, Olgui and Albert). Still, a very cool pack. Let me know if you need any help or input with Ojos Así! :)

The "dembow" or also known as "tumpa tumpa" is a rhythmic pattern and not an instrument. It is the one you find in Reggaetón music. The name comes from a Jamaican song called Dem Bow from the 90s that uses that rhythmic pattern, back then Reggaetón was originating in the Caribbean and so most songs used that rhythmic pattern and people started calling it dembow, it is still the rhythmic pattern used in Reggaetón to this day.

Luv it this session so much mate, but I was hoping you could play more full Wyclef Jean's part and backing vocals. The first dude that you heard was the version she recorded with Albert Menendez for her tour where Wyclefs was not able to attend. Regarding the question you had about the mic quality difference with shakira and wyclef. There are differences because most of Wyclef verses and vocal was recorded for the original version of the song which is called Dance Like This which Wyclef did for the movie Dirty Dancing 2 Havana Nights in 2004 which could be that Wyclefs vocals was recorded somewhere around end of 2003 with old tech and Shakira vocals was recorded end 2005 early 2006 with latest mic and technology as you know the tech in the music industry evolved really quick in short time.

Rafizi! thanks so much for the wonderful insight on this. I'm sorry i didn't spend enough time on that track for you! im thinking about doing a 'Missed bits" video where i go back and check out the parts that a glazed over. if so then this bit will most definitely be included. thank you so much for the information and thanks s o much for watching the video!

@@luffegun would love to see that, cant wait! Understanble that you got too many parts of a song for you to cover.I was laughing my ass off when you said you had to go somewhere while you played that hott shakira's added vocal hahaha which i didnt noticed before watching this video. Other than that, I love what youre doing mate. Being able to share isolated version/backing soundtrack/backing vocals of a song that is loved by everyone is not something everyone can do. Believe me or not mate, i only able to heard isolated version/backing vocals of a song when my earphone is broken lmao.cheers mate
