thanks mate , I had never done this before ! Let your son know his dad helped someone all the way down under in australia to change his speaker horn lol
OMG! Scary, never screw it like that! Keep your hands on the screw driver at all times. The magnetic gap is so strong it can hurl your screwdriver right thru the new diaphragm.
Also test with a microphone and RTA using pink noise to make sure the diaphragm along with tightening tension of each of the screws doesn't alter the frequency which is what I have discovered when aligning my JBL 2371 with 2416H with LCR horns on JBL control 12SR Oh also use a frequency sweep as well that will determine you have smooth tonal frequency or if the diaphragm along with one of screws is hairline out of alignment. If you hear a frequency in the lower end of sweep sounding distorted? Its a small touch out of alignment. I've managed to get my JBL 2371 flat close down to near 400Hz with some High pass filters and few trims to level out the peak frequencies that can mask neighboring frequencies and the horn was generally made for a 1.5KHz I been using it at home happily for number of years with crossover set to 303Hz or sometimes 401Hz or 499Hz. It won't do anything much below 309Hz and that would be pushing the voice coil and I do use AUDIO LIMITER to protect if running a film. I notice your, horns have the slot phase plug same to my JBL 2371 expect for the two pairs I brought off ebay different sellers one of the other pair had holes on the phase plug that can make the tonal frequency with pink noise sound different. Wouldn't mind a larger x3 JBL horns thou been pleased with current ones in the home I know a larger size one will offer a bit more mid low Hz so that I can re-tune the bass mid drivers down a little lower.
0:43 I have JBL 2445J five of them for 70mm SDDS five screen matrix wide and noted the diaphragm dated 1989 a lot of good Dolby Stereo 6ch and matrix cam out that year. You have to reverse the polarity as the shape of the diaphragm is domed shape and faces towards if it was in JBL three-way and cos its placed over the dome shaped phase-plug its facing in the opposite direction and Yes the polarity needs to be reversed so it has forward motion against the phase-plug. When using RTA with pink noise with JBL bass cab that I use JBL 4647 and can easily see on the RTA if you use a Behringer DCX2496 and reversed polarity you'll see a dip in the frequency between the crossover points. Also using the JBL 2380A for the five screen matrix all are placed behind acoustical transparent screen. Also make new video update on your JBL horns maybe with Return of the Jedi on Laserdisc the rancor scene.

Haha. Never under 900hz. Resonanz from Horn and driver. 😜😜😜
Cool driver and Horn. If you use a super tweeter At 8khz or more better use a radian 1245. The diaphragm is aluminium. Sounds smother.and better.
Liked and Sub'd .... my son is in a few of my videos when he was young, it is great to look back on
How does the driver come apart first to get to the diaphragm?
