Boy he ain't kidding about Eddy Shaver. He was one of the best in the business, with everyone else included. Right there with SRV, Clapton, Jimmie Vaughan, and Jeff Beck. Et. al. What a huge loss.
I really dig this channel and Otis Gibbs' style.

They are a top notch band 👍
I will never forget the night I met Billy Joe and Eddy Shaver. At a small bar on the Ala, Fla line about a year before Eddy passed. Billy, Brenda and Eddy all together now in the sweet by and by. RIP forever.
Eddie Shaver's solo album is one of a handful of my all time favorites 🙏
Great guitarist, he was
The saying " three chords and the truth" had to have been stated with Billy Joe in mind , one of the best songwriters to ever live, and Eddy was phenomenal. Thanks for another great one Otis hope your day is a great one!
“It was dimed”. That’s my new favorite phrase. If I can only find a way to work that into a conversation!

Lordy, I have so many Billy Joe and Eddy memories and stories. Good friends, both.
Another great interview! Eddy was a guitarist's guitarist. I've never heard a single picker speak of Eddy in anything but glowing terms. Billy Joe was a songwriter's songwriter as well. Not a day goes by that they're not in my thoughts.
I stood in front of Warren Haynes Soldano rig at a Gov’t Mule show in Dallas 1998. Rocked my world! One of my favorite all time shows!
I had the honor of running sound for Billy Joe, Eddy & the band at The Frank Brown Songwriters Festival in Perdido key & Orange Beach, AL in the '90's. Great show and Eddy peeled the paint off the walls and the show was at the Perdido Beach Hilton.
I love this channel thank you Otis I appreciate these stories
Went to Smith’s Olde Bar a few times when my military career took me to GA for a week each month. Saw Dan Baird and Ray Wylie Hubbard there (separately). Never saw Billy Joe, but I have that live record thx to someone here recommending it. Outstanding.
Great post, thank you---Eddie was indeed a great guitarist, he could tear it up with the best of them, or have the softest of touches on acoustic, he worked with Dwight Yoakum and Todd Snider as well as supporting his Dad in his final years.
I guess it's not much of a coincidence cause I listen to Billy Joe most every morning but I was mid song when you uploaded this. Thanks Otis !

He signed our family Yamaha guitar in Bristol TN. & he liked to crushed my hand when he shook it in Johnson City TN once. He was country!
I met Billy Joe many times over the years and have a story for each one. One time in particular shortly after Eddy died proved his genuine kindness and badass persona at the same time and I’ll always be grateful to him for that. RIP Billy Joe you were the best.
Whenever I watch once of your Charlie Starr videos I think of some duets Blackberry Smoke did with Amanda Shires, and then I think to suggest that you try and interview her.
In addition to Shires's solo career, she's played and toured with a lot of people that come up on this channel. As a teenager she played with the Texas Playboys. She's toured with the Greg Allman Band & Justin Townes Earl, played with John Prine, Gillian Welch, Todd Snider, recorded with Bobby Nelson. She's a good talker too. Appropos this video, she's played and recorded with Billy Joe Shaver. If I'm remembering the story right, it started when, as a young woman, she decided to hop on stage with her fiddle and start playing during his set at a festival.
Interesting stories. I'll check her and Charlie Starr.
My favorite Billy Joe story is the suntan pill story. Epic!
Love the Charlie Starr interviews! Charlie has played with just about everybody who's anybody, so I'm sure he's got plenty more stories in him.
Nice interview. I played with Billy Joe awhile shortly before Eddie 's death. Lucky enough to play with Dad and son and drummer Craig. A couple of other drummers too. They moved back to Texas. Billy Joe is my favorite Texas songwriter.
I was at the Smith's Olde Bar live recording. We met Billy Joe that night. What a memory! He was just super nice.
These are my favorite interviews on the internet thank you otis 😊😊😊😊❤
One of my favorite albums is Tramp On Your Street. Really shows Eddy's guitar talent especially in Georgia On A Fast Train
Eddy's guitar talent was one of the best.

Thank you Otis
Was lucky to see Eddy & Billy Joe 2 different times. Eddy is definitely one of my favorite players. Rest easy to both of them.
Eddy was indeed one of the best.
Thank you Otis Gibbs for an interview with Charlie Starr who is both an outstanding song writer and guitarist. The interview was a bit short but beggars at another's house can’t be choosy. ☮
Love Billy Joe and Charlie!❤
Great storytelling.
JUST SAW BBS down at Roostertail music festIval in Madison Indiana MR. Starr came out and did couple of song with Micheal Cleveland it was awsome . and they put on a great show .

Those stairs at Smith's are deadly.
