Right? I just reached the level 50 MSQ and the way the story gradually made sense as the Calamity being the change from 1.0 to 2.0 is so good. They literally wove that mess into the lore and honestly, that was genius.
Just finished Shadowbringers, it is really the best story of FF in this decade. I actually love how they implemented some adrenaline-inducing mechanics that ties to the story into "that fight". Never once i experieced an MMORPG that can do what FFXIV did, never. Cutscenes are also symbolic and well-directed. OSTs are perfect fit, "Invincible" is now my new favorite. Galaxy Vulture Me and my friend had been there, it was really a slog during those post-ARR quests. We dont want to skip anything, so we took 6 months to be able to clear Shadowbringers, there was a lot of sidetracks by the way. You dont have to rush, play the story at your own pace, but i understand if there are things you really want at the end of the expansion. If you love the gameplay, each expansion will improve the gameplay, quality and challenges, especially from Heavensward to Stormblood. For the story, imo, I would say Shadowbringers is indeed the best, but what hooked me hooked was Heavensward. Stormblood is also good, but i dont like it as much as HW. If you have any question or want to know what to do, feel free to ask, the community here is generally nice, even at max lvl. You will certainly meet "less than desireable" players at some point, but they are the minority here, so dont let them discourage you from what you enjoy! :D Also, you can report these players, GMs of this game are very serious about harassments, and offensive behaviors.

@@MattAndre24 Nomura was not a veteran at Soft. He was merely a concept artist/illustrator, and debugger on previous games. Not true that Sakaguchi "barely had any involvement", truly he no longer was a writer or director, but in all things he was an adviser. In FF7 he even worked extremely closely with the debug team that in any addition to the game he would manage to keep the loading times always low. In Squenix Amano is no longer a concept artist for example, only cover illustrator. Even people like Kitase were mishandled roles in their development. Masato Kato and Takahashi are also no longer around, two big parts of what gave Square Soft games their soul. Yes they are criminals but not KNOWN criminals. They identify them by their TATTOO that can be placed anywhere and all they need to do is hide it. FF13 uses the l'cie brand/criminals excuse to literally streamline the entire story to putting these characters outside of society. Second: no. Content isnt just content. Here's an example: Valhalla Knights 3 in the ps4 and vita was a TERRIBLE game because it gave you the most mundane fetchquests, the most boring story, and no real interaction. The ending to the game is you literally dying and the main antagonist taking your body. There is post game content that unlocks all the routes you didnt have access to, and add a but of a revenge postgame story. But it's still trash. Ff13 you have to play 80% of the game and suffer until you actually get access to anything DECENT.
Okay these developers, writers, programmers, sound designers, engineers, anyone who worked on this game has a lot of respect from me. To take something that was incredibly shitty and make it amazing AND blending the lore from V1 into V2 is amazing. As someone who started playing the game recently, I’m in awe over the environments, the enemies, even the home base of Limsa Lomensia. I watched a bard player play songs like Radioactive and Halo and that was amazing. I’m not a big MMO player so I’m not used to interacting with other players but it feels so organic and just so right to see players riding their mounts as they pass by, aid others when they’re attacking enemies, or just goof off with them. Knowing what it went through to get to where it is now, I give them so much credit for how they handled this dumpster fire (take notes Bethesda).
I hope that last part is a reference to Fallout 76 and not the wait for Elder Scrolls 6 because that's really nothing to complain about. I really think it's a good idea for them to take their time on that one, and do things very thoroughly.
Johnathon Spade oh god no it’s for 76. Bethesda needs all the time they can get they can’t screw up another game on the level they did of 76. I’m okay with waiting. "What's a final fantasy game again? Is it like Dragon quest?"
Ah
In Japan, DQ is much much much more popular than FF.
@@will3641 That doesn't mean much. Dragon quest is a stale uninspired franchise which is par for the course for japan. They've always hated change. They always buy the same thing over and over again. I still like DQ but its stale.

"You're going to make an expansion about how light is bad"
"Ho boy"
@Storm Driven 🤣
Tho I like how Yoshida sensei (Yoshipi) came with -almost- the total opposite concept of XV (regarding light & darkness)
At some point my brain couldn’t keep up with the story while I was playing ShB,
But let’s admit it, that’s a totally fresh perspective to the whole concept
Pretty sure they did that same thing in Final Fantasy 3
Except did they? A flood of pure light aspected aether destroys balance just as a flood of darkness aspected aether does like when it destroyed the world that became the void.
It seems more like the whole point of the expansion was how balance is required.
And with how many edgelord theories about Hydaelyn actually evil there are plenty of potential reasons for why it did what it did.

Wait, so that is why it is called "A Realm Reborn?" I got to say, as a new player, learning all this stuff is a blast. I used to be a WoW lore nut, so I am definitely going to enjoy learning a billion character names and locations in the months to come!
1.0 was very pretty and had some gorgeous mocap cutscenes, but was a slog to play (never did myself, went back to XI), so yes this really happened. I remember the End of an Era cutscene coming out and I felt like I missed being part of something amazing, even though the damn thing was getting shut down.
Right? I just reached the level 50 MSQ and the way the story gradually made sense as the Calamity being the change from 1.0 to 2.0 is so good. They literally wove that mess into the lore and honestly, that was genius.
How's the story? Are you enjoying it?
@@lilrockstar8170 I haven't been able to play very much on account of work, but I am enjoying the story so far.
@@peytonibarra8992 ooh nice where are you at?
Just finished Shadowbringers, it is really the best story of FF in this decade.
I actually love how they implemented some adrenaline-inducing mechanics that ties to the story into "that fight". Never once i experieced an MMORPG that can do what FFXIV did, never.
Cutscenes are also symbolic and well-directed. OSTs are perfect fit, "Invincible" is now my new favorite.
YoshiP really did turn things around....
They went from 1.0 to Shadowbringers. If you have the will you can make anything succeed.
Actually 13-2 managed to do this. For example the scene with noel and cauis
God u making me salty I still have to complete 100 quest just to get to heavenward. I'll admit I was not enjoying a realm reborn fetch quest, but the gameplay was amazing. When they had primals, those cool dungeons, and the ending for realm reborn I got back excited. If all the other explansions are as good as everyone says I'm gonna be so happy.
Also, you can report these players, GMs of this game are very serious about harassments, and offensive behaviors.
Yeah. The writer for ShB did so well. I heard she also wrote the story for Dar Knight which I've heard is godly too. I hope she write more plot in the game.

@@MattAndre24 Nomura was not a veteran at Soft. He was merely a concept artist/illustrator, and debugger on previous games. Great part of the company's downfall could be attributed to the amount of control he was given.

@@UkaranComplacency and trying to apply their own feelings about what FF “should be” to the game. Sometimes detachment can help with objectivity.
Take Tony Gilroy and Christopher Nolan, people who gave us the best Star Wars and Batman content of this generation. You know what neither of them are? Fans of the source material. Gilroy has made it clear that he never cared for Star Wars at all, and Nolan never picked up a comic a day in his life. Meanwhile a lot of actual fans have made some pretty divisive movies in those franchises.
That’s because an objective perspective is free from trying to make something in line with work in the franchise already, and free to just focus on making something great on its own merits.

Ian Carlson Yeah. After using in house engines almost killed the company twice.
nah they wont give up in using inhouse engine....own inhouse engine is not a problem as long it well made up..capcom mt framework or their recent re engine is good example..one of the problem with crystal tools is, other than it nightmare to use, SE want their devs to treat the engine as multipurpose engine..similliar problem with EA's Frostbite that ruin tons of game like mass effect andromeda, anthem and even cancelled amy heanig's star wars game...that game originally battlefield engine, really good for shooter but not yet for another genre..devs had trouble even building basic rpg inventory system for dragon age inquisition
one of reason kh3 and ffviir use UE4 is, Luminous studio that time not finished yet, still in development and the devs didnt had resourse to support another team no to mention the distance between KH3 team which is based on osaka and former tech director julien mceron want the team to focused develop, finished the engine alongside 1 game as how it should be to avoid crystal tools fiasco
so, rather than waiting for the engine, it was right call for Square to use UE4 which is pretty powerfull, capable and devs friendly..luckly start wars fallen jedi also use UE4 instead of frostbite...that engine doesnt even able to provide basic features for uncharted style action adventure game for the former uncharted directors cancelled start wars game
also, the engine 14 use not same engine as Luminous..it custom engine made specifically for the game..more like 'sister' engine to the still in development luminous studio that time

6:42 I'd like to think that was the actual written game design document
3:59
"Don't worry, it is time to bring out our secret wepon"
Literally an ad of the fudge covered oreos plays
Just here for my customary rewatch after finishing the Endwalker MSQ. Timeless game, timeless video.
It cannot possibly be overstated what an outstanding job Yoshi-P did. If you haven't already, you should watch the three piece documentary on FFXIV. It's mind-blowing.
And of course, start playing FFXIV!
5:56 dormammu i've come to bargain
This is pure gold. You should have at least 20.000.000 views. ;)
I got an ad right when he mentioned the secret weapon at like 4:01
I got an very well timed AD when Mr SE said behold and it zoomed into the screen
This photo of yoshi makes him look like some kind of asian Elton John/Steve jobs.
"It is time for us to bring in our secret weapon. Behold:"
*Reeses ad plays*
3:51 - A catchphrase that will forever be synonymous with Keiji Inafune's 'masterpiece'....
Mighty No. 9 and Sonic's response to it?
1:43 7:31 Meanwhile Sega's like "no beta for global" and "we won't delay NGS launch because everything went wrong in beta" except with Sega "we will wing it like usual and everything will work out" hasn't worked Since before Sonic 06.
yoshi-p should be put to the hall of fame for ressurecting ff14. a statue should be raised in front of square-enix and they should pray to him instead of a god... he did the impossible and made the best mmo out of the worst.
With the amount of test to speech, and it being a final fantasy video, i was expecting an “OK I BELIVE YOU” at some point
