you are right! ul does not say anything about a balloon ,,, but when the fire-marshal wants to see a balloon test then that is what you do,,, its the only way to demonstrate the system works with out dumping costly wet chem and as you can see, it reviled a clogged nozzle.the balloons done what they were intended to do.
@bifta7 The pull station handle should NOT come out only 2 inches, It is 7 to 14. No more that 40lbs of pressure to pull, and the height should be between 42 and 48 inches. That is according to NFPA 17 standards. I install, repair, and inspect Ansul (R-102 and Piranha), Amerex, Rangeguard, PyroChem, and Kitchen Knight systems in Las Vegas. It is obvious that this is for demonstration only! I personally dont EVER use unions on the black pipe. This quality would get me fired, or I would resign.
this is a demonstration system for system nozzles as the video is showing and is not a restaurant so there is not a fan-gas-electric or make up air installed
3/8 pipe is the standard and is what you should use when possible, 1/2 pipe takes more wet chem to fill the pipe volume and will lead to lager or more tanks. always set up a system with minimum requirements as they are over kill anyway. i know your post is more than a year old just wanted to add for thought
First of all, this video has nothing to do with the quality of Ansul fire system. It has to do with fire protection companies not servicing them properly. Second, this system was not installed to code, it is a demo system with control head and pull station next to each other for that purpose.
First off the balloons are testing and any fire protection contractor would know that and as for the ansul install its runs almost the se as any other system we install them a lot along with the other brands and I don't know anyone to do a install with 1/2 bp 3/8 is the recommend for all system range guard you start off with 1/2 only from the tank and reduce it down to a 3/8 we only use 3/8

Why is the pull station within 10' of the hood? Why is the pull station above 4' off the floor?

buckeye all day long
If their is huge fire don't waste you time to pull the pull station that's what the fusible links are for.
Wow. That’s a terrible install
what the hell is he doing? balloons? wtf!!!
wow ...im so sorry ..but this...this is not a demostration or explanation or.. or nothing ..this is ...i dont know what are you try to show
Terrible teacher. You barely explained anything about how the system actuates inside the box, which is a critical part of the test as well.
crappy install
