    Great video. Unfortunately a lot of service companies just replace links and never cut test anything. Even worse, some just replace their tags to the ones with new dates and go.

    Thats why you should probably test end of line first. I mean that's what the book from ansul says to do.

    You could use a zip tie for a test link.

      Why would you do that? Just use a test link or a real link.

    he is using wrong detection bracket . those detector bracket are for Range guard. you must use Ansul system detector or Ansul will not responsible for that.

      I agree that you’re correct but it’s a useless fact.
      The bracket being the wrong brand will not affect system operation.

    Hmmm... that detection line did not get that way in 6 months. The service company is NOT doing their job right. What happened to the REQUIRED detector in the exhaust duct just left of the end of line detector? In addition, the scissor links are NOT suppose to be positioned up in the bracket as shown. They are supposed to hang down freely. This also helps prevent additional drag on the cable for proper operation.
    To keep the scissor from falling off the cable, using a weight like vise grips to weight the cable without actually gripping the cable on the end of line detector, allowing it to move freely. This way, there is always some tension on the scissors so they don't fall apart while installing the other fusible links on the detection line. Every service, 6 months or more frequently, depending upon kitchen operation whereas grease build up is greater than normal. This may include restaurants open 24 hours with char broilers or Chinese Woks for example. Somebody needs to go back to ANSUL school. I have been installing and servicing "ANSUL" type of restaurant systems since 1982 and in this video the service company providing the service is doing a dis-service to our professional service technicians. Go to the fire system manufactures training school to know how to do it right, or not all.

      "Install the linkage and the correct ANSUL approved fusible link in the remainder of the detector brackets. Make certain all detector linkages are positioned against either the front or back upper lip of the formed detector bracket."
      That is directly from the ANSUL manual. Might I suggest you follow your own advice and go back to ANSUL school?

    • @justinlee4022
      @justinlee4022 3 роки тому +1

      Boom! Yes Stephen is correct! They do belong inside the detector housing just not straight up. Either front or back has a lip indent that the detector belongs in to prevent slag, the link detector is not suppose to be outside just hanging as the weight, vibration , and or cable can be running against something and could accidentally be cut/frayed overtime or damaged and you could have a accidental discharge.
      However , the rest of your information is correct. I have been testing,installing and selling Ansul systems for 10 years. Also was the department manager and sales person for service and contracting sales for the largest company in Arizona. Almost a million in Kitchen suppression system sales alone in a fiscal year .

    • @joshuaborem7063
      @joshuaborem7063 3 роки тому

      You criticize them without any specifics except the scissors hanging down (of which you’re incorrect- because the Ansul book requires them to be tucked upward into the brackets )

    the scissor isn't even crimped to stay on the line. Poor guy is going to sweat all day looking for the scissor that falls after testing.

    • @darrelldawson4823
      @darrelldawson4823 5 років тому +3

      I've seen "crimped" scissors cause cable fraying on the detection line, that's a terrible reccomendation. A technician should not spend time searching for the missing scissor either. After a system discharge due to a fire, the scissor containing the fusible link that separated should be replace as well as any other scissors exposed to extreme temperatures. ALL links should then be replaced.

    • @joshuaborem7063
      @joshuaborem7063 3 роки тому

      Don’t crimp the scissors!
      My team has had 20 system dumps per year and no issue with finding the scissor.
      Besides that, if the scissor is missing then you just install a new one.
