Update... The video capture has gone along well. I have converted more than 60 tapes, so far. The conversion is not perfect, for sure. It's shaky, and the sound is not synced, perfectly, but it's digitized so I can share it with all our friends and family and it preserved digitally, so there is a back up copy and that's worth a lot. Until something better comes along, this works well enough, for me.
I had the Diamond VC500 before and I transfered some old vhs videos to my pc and converted them to avi but, the audio/video synchronization was horrible. It did do the job of capturing the video and the sound but, did a terrible job on synchronizing both. As it matter of fact, it was so bad that I decided to delete the files afterwards and I got rid of Diamond VC500. I've being looking around for a better alternative since. This one seems to be one of the top ones currently, based on online research but, I just read in your comment that you also experienced some synchronization issues with the Roxio as well. How bad was the synchronization and are there any third party programs out there that you can use to fix that? With the videos I transfered using Diamond VC500, the audio was off by like a minute to a minute and half, behind the video and I couldn't do anything about it. I was able to synchronize it a bit while playing the video in VLC in real time but, it was very tedius to do. I had to constantly pause the video everytime I noticed the audio and video was getting out of sync plus there were no options in vlc to save the video after the adjustments. I wonder how bad is it with this Roxio one.
@@JAMSTUBE The sound is out of sync in the final output by probably less and 1 second or so. Nothing terrible. I have not played around to get it adjusted perfectly, so I'm not sure there is a work around for that.
@@bldann That doesn't seem to be that much of desynchronization, considering you're transfering from old vhs tapes. Much better than the results of the Diamond VC500 I was using. Thanks for your feedback, I'll give this Roxio program a try.
I looked at that at Best Buy today but the associate was clueless. Did you have to use the Roxio software from the CD that comes with it or just the adapter and run it through Powerdirector?
Did you ever redo them again after this I do this service myself and use dvd recorders that uncovers to high definition with audio in sync qnd video if you don't feal like redoing them for a third time
I only have a few left to do. I lost interest at some point. I'll finish them up someday... hopefully before I croak! Thanks for watching and I'm glad to hear there is better software!
@@bldann use elgato video capture I record to dvd then rip it to computer and youtube I don't find the capture cards good at all then don't sync well lthe best one is elgato video capture but only converts to digital amd all my customers request dvd

I’ve transferred old VHS C tapes to my pc too from the mid 90s early 2000s before I stop making home videos on this video format I did Mac’s 17th Birthday 🎂 1995 and My Dad’s Funeral 2004 and the others I have almost 150 vhs tapes already xd
Perhaps for some, it will work just fine to do it with the Roxio Software, but in my experience, it kept thinking that my tapes were pirated and kept shutting down. I did not have that issue when I ran it through the Diamond One Touch Software.
I believe that you can. I think I tried that and found that it was easier to do through a VCR and a TV screen playing than trying to use the tiny buttons on the camcorder, but I have old people eyes, so that part may just be me. Another note: It also read feed from the camcorder, more times than not, as a copyright protected content. There is some noise that it will hear and then it thinks you are doing copyrighted videos, even when they are home videos. I had far less problems setting it up with the VCR but if you don't have one and your camcorder has the right ports for the adapter, give it a try and let me know how it goes. Best of luck!

I use a magnovox dvd vcr combo player recorder bought it for 60 then connected another vcr to it since the vcr In it dident work

So did u just plug one end into the vcr and the other end to your pc? After it down loads to the pc, do U just burn it to a dvd?

It's both. Only slightly off, but noticeable.
