Subbed. Reefer from Seattle. KISS approach, i like that. Just always watch your parameters. Since you removed your skimmer, your wiggle room for errors are smaller. I used to run my 75g without skimmers for years, and then in 2010, i had an bacterial bloom and almost wiped out all my inhabitants. Boils down to over feeding. And I was stop testing my params a long long time ago. Congrats on a beautiful tank.
Omg man your tank is inspiring truly I'm starting out with the reef venture always have been in freshwater mostly just discus and flowerhorns but about a month and a half ago I started my first saltwater and decided I'm going to make it a reef and now I have to have a reef like yours what light are you using
+Eldridge Henry, II Thanks for watching, I'm using my Samsung Galaxy S7 phone to record. Top section of corals include Trumpet, red montipora capricornis, green montipora capricornis, bird of paradise, pink bird nest, purple stylophora, green star poly, brown button polyps. Below include purple hammer, a rock anemone, red mushrooms, various ricordeas, duncan, frog spawn, cinnamon polyps and various zoanthids.
Great question! Because of salinity increase. When you dose any 2-part additives for calcium and alkalinity, you are left over with extra sodium and chloride ions (salt). So over time salinity creeps up. I would mix my new saltwater at a much lower salinity to "correct" the balance.
Your tank is gorgeous and the animals look very healthy! I can't believe your tank is without a skimmer! Thanks for posting.
although this is years old, i love the content, i hope you get more traction and more videos.
Very nice update and I used to run Miracle mud on my 50 gal reef. I can't wait to put it into my 90gal. Great video.

Installed a skimmer yesterday and my goni love it! Wasn't running one for ever

Looks like miracle mud is making a comeback! Been using it for over 25 years . And yes it's amazing!
What a gorgeous reef, stunning colors.
+billshreeveable I appreciate that, and thanks for watching!
Great to hear I want to try it out just as a trace element source so I don't have to keep dosing. I already have very low nitrates and PO4 already.
Great video. Appreciate the insight with miracle mud.
Nice tank, nice video, Nice that is working for you so keep doing what you are doing... I wouldn't dare to be without skimmer... Good Luck...
Went through your videos. Nice seeing the progress.. Looking forward to more. Subbed.

I'm still alive, haha! Don't have the Biocube anymore, have a 5 ft tank now that's a few months old. I'm due for a video update.

Nerdist Aquarist Hello, what are the dimensions of your sump? And how much substrate did you need to start?
Very nice! Great color. Nice camera work, too... what kind of camera do you use?
+mnelson10000 Thanks! My first video with the Samsung Galaxy S7, in pro mode.
Nice tank! Thanks for sharing.
+Tess G Thank you!
looks very good congrats
You make water changes?
very beautiful nano reef! :)
+John Thanks!
Fantastic job thanks
Why did you do water changes if your nitrates and phosphates were staying low?
Great question! Because of salinity increase. When you dose any 2-part additives for calcium and alkalinity, you are left over with extra sodium and chloride ions (salt). So over time salinity creeps up. I would mix my new saltwater at a much lower salinity to "correct" the balance.
Beautiful tank mate! Job well done!
beautiful tank, liked and subbed
great tank!!! I'm gonna try this
Hi, did you use filter socks?
I don't. I let the refugium consume all nutrients.
Really nice tank
beautiful tank. . did the tank go through that cyano bloom after adding the miracle mud or have you run it from day 1.?
I had a deep sand bed in the sump before, nothing negative at all happened when it was swapped with the miracle mud.
+Nerdist Aquarist i had that first algae bloom until i started culling the Cheato on a regular. .
nice growth, are you still carbon dosing?
+Oswaldo Guerrero Thanks, I stopped carbon dosing 6 months ago.
Amazing tank!!
Beautiful!
very nice!
this is the best looking 30g ever! Are you using ai hydra 52?
Not even, I'm using the very first generation Hydra.
Wow...nice tank! :)
beautiful reef. interesting :)
curious how your sump is set up.
+ekong85 I covered the design in videos #8, #9 and #10.
How much Miracle mud per 30 gallon?
The smallest 10 pound package is recommended for 40-65 gallons.
What LEDs are you running?
Aqua Illumination Hydra, the original ones.
Very beautiful
Loved it. Subbed
This tanks dope!
Nice,,,,, very nice
nice tank subbed
+CaliReef I appreciate that.
very nice tank. I subbed you to follow along. Cheers
+Chizzo's Reef I appreciate that!
Subbed!
👍
Are you dosing vodka?
+Alex Nguyen No. The macro algae in my refugium was doing such a great job I didn't need any additional nitrate/phosphate reduction.
Umm
You sound sad =(
+Andrew Hales lol, I was recording the voice over at night and trying not to be too loud.
