When I went to Alcatraz about 16 years ago I got the headphones and the audio device and it added so much to the experience and it is true that you can hear prisoners talking but it was so much more detailed than just walking through.
I'm excited to see your San Fran video's. Especially Alcatraz! I visited Alcatraz in 1991 while serving in the Navy. Our ship USS Chandler went there after the desert storm war. 😊😊😊

My Alcatraz experience....years ago my friend and I went to SF, excited to visited Alcatrez. The lines for the ferries were long during the day so we decided to try to get the first boat out on the morning. Setting the mood..it was dark, foggy, misty rain. There was hardly anyone on the ferry. We rented the headphones. We only got through a little of the tour in the prison when we decided it was too much and took the next ferry back. I don't know if was a combination of the weather, that we didn't see many living people during the tour but could feel the heaviness, the doom...I can't explain it. The more crowded tours during the day may be a whole different experience. I'm sure if there were others We might have felt different. I guess for a lack of a better word, we "romanticized" Alcatrez but it was scarier in our experience than I thought it would be! Just warning you may need to stop for an "Irish coffee" after it! SF is great ..one of my favorite places to visit! Enjoy every minute of your holiday!!
Is the wall a countdown to California vacation? I’m from there and it helps. Just moved to ankeny, and your videos help me so much to plan things to look forward to.
I live in Philadelphia , Pa and did the tour with headphones at eastern state penitentiary. It was great! If you ever come to Philadelphia I recommend touring it. I have watched movies and shows about Alcatraz. Hope to visit there one day! Enjoy 😉!
I’m not sure why I find visiting a penitentiary is so fascinating but I do. I just can’t imagine having to live in a jail cell with people that I’m afraid of.
@@ourdailyview Back in the day we had under pillow speakers. They plugged in like headphones, but went to a small speaker you could put under your pillow so you don’t annoy your partner. You could hold that up to your ear.
@@ourdailyview You should contact someone at the customer service/information center at Alcatraz and see if they have alternatives for people with special needs, I really think Craig would enjoy the commentary with all the facts and information. It would be a shame for him to miss all that. Some places provide small speakers that hang on a lanyard around your neck and I’ve seen other places where you can connect to Bluetooth and play it through your phone. If they don’t provide anything other than headphones then maybe you could ask if you could bring your own small speaker.
I would like to recommend another tv series I think you might like since you like Dawson's Creek. Everwood is fantastic if you've not already watched it. Hope you're having a great day!
