Nice one lads - love the enthusiasm for the kit amongst the team and also the concept of following one airframe through its life. I hope it sells well 👍👍👍
What an entrance! 👍 Great video, and a brilliant looking new kit; I like the concept of the history of one particular airframe.... 🙂 Definite pre-order here... 😉👍
As a cornishman who lives a few hundred yards from Culdrose this is my dream kit. I can die a happy and content man now this kit is released an I can build it. I'm honestly considering buying four to build every option in the box, which I've never done before
Hello from Cape Town South Africa - I'm a former Ops manager of the table bay CHC helicopters just before they closed shop and left SA. I absolutely adored the S-61n so this kit is super news for me. I just hope I can get one plus some extra bits to build my favourite machine ZS- RFU in the rounded CHC livery of the time. Epic video by the way, love that intro!
a fab release this....always loved the seakings and in 1/48 scale thats my fav scale....i did buy the rescue version airfix 1/72 one...was so surprised to see this release...top stuff
I recently built the 72nd scale Sea King and enjoyed that, and I like the idea of showing the evolution of one particular aircraft over the years. Might have to buy more than one of these!
Great work Airfix! It's been really wonderful seeing this company going from what were quite mediocre kits, to some really fine gems. Just goes to show how the right kind of attitude can really make a difference. Just give us good quality qits that are well researched, not overly complicated to assemble, and we'll reward you with great sales. Seeing the enthusiasm of your employees also cannot go unnoticed and it also makes us very happy to know that real modelers were included in the development of this kit. I will be buying a few, definitely. Now, if I can suggest a Wessex, or a Phantom FG.1/FGR.2 in 1/48... :)
What a really great video! The enthusiasm and pride in your beautiful kit shines through! I will enjoy this kit all the more knowing how much work and love went into it. Thanks, guys!
I like how the video for a predominately Royal Navy Model starts with a phrase that has its derivation from the RN… referring to the ‘Cat o’nine tails’ a flogger for punishing sailors back in the day. When it came out of its storage bag it would be know as ‘letting the cat out of the bag’. 100% I’ll be building this having spent a lot of time in Sea Kings!
Yup, i've been requesting a GR5/7/9 for many many years. then the after market companies would be in overdrive. imagine the possibilities T10, all AV-8B's
Looking forward to this one. I love the single machine theme, especially the Portland one, which lives nearby to me. I wondered why you didn't do a yellow ASR but now I know why.
Bravo Airfix… really nice looking details and love the schemes. Now that’s another kit on the wish list to buy. …. But please please please we NEED a new tooled SEPECAT Jaguar, preferably in 1/48 scale. The Jag has been very poorly represented in kit form. So please get to it. 👍👍👍🤓
Top marks to your marketing team - great presentation. In fact top marks all round. Not many people predicted a Sea King but they’ll buy it anyway based on this launch and the recent track record of fantastic quality new kits. Passion, dedication and quality oozing from Airfix!
I thought you did a great job on this - informative, educational. I doubt if your designers/researchers 'Signed up' specifically to do 'Presenter/To camera' work, but they came across as natural and their enthusiasm shone through. I'm from the days of spending pocket money on 'Red Stripe Header Bags at the local Ironmongers! 😂 You've come a long way, Airfix - Bravo! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you Jim, we love our designers and we are so happy they had the chance to share their knowledge and experience on the development of the Sea King :)
I'm fortunate to live by Culdrose in Cornwall so had years of seeing and hearing these aircraft almost daily. Lots of locals were sad when they ceased operation.
So glad you guys are doing this release format now. And what a beauty to do 666(daemon) is a legend. Please do a mk4 for the jungles and maybe a merlin mk1/2.
A 22 Squadron set of transfers would have been great too - as I've been flown in the one you see in this video, and 22 Sqn did great work in its rescue role, and finally featured a a certain high profile pilot. Well done to all who kept their lips sealed about this wonderful surprise.
What.??????..Fantastic news and really had to be done by Airfix..Well here another for the pre-order gonna be ordered..(Can’t wait already for my Gannet and Ferret)..Well done Airfix.!.🇬🇧👍
I'm really excited to see this. I've been waiting patiently for a new-tooled helicopter from Airfix. Personally, I prefer helicopters over fixed wing because they offer a greater challenge in terms of assembly and weathering. I hope Airfix continues to offer more 1/48 helicopters. Just imagine having a Wessex sitting next to one of these Sea Kings ;-)
Looks great! I hope someone comes out with the iconic SAR Golden Yellow scheme, although the included schemes are very impressive! I immediately ordered two following he surprise announcement!
Congratulations ❤to you wonderful people from Airfix. What a fantastic surprise. We needed a new 1/48 Sea King, such a cool helicopter with so much history, in so many Countries. The presentation was also a nice surprise. I think you will be starting a lot of helicopter builds😄 Thank You👍
Ok, well that's quite exciting. I was expecting yet another warbird that I only have a passing interest in, but the Seaking is one of my favourites and with the civil scheme as well, this is a no-brainer.
Well done @OfficialAirfix can’t wait to build this. Love the idea behind the 4 schemes, very unique. I am already excited about future boxings, maybe a Royal Australian Navy Mk.50A/B?
It's an updated series of figures, made out of a plastic that you can actually use glue on... and which doesn't cause paint to crack and flake off when it's bent!!! Woo hoo!! About time!
Hi buddy, have you tried the Vallejo Mecha range for wargaming. Made more durable for model/ figures being handled for gaming purposes. Obviously bending will still be the problem but might survive better.
What a fantastic new kit. Been watching Hornby on BBC Brit (?) and was amazed at what goes into the design of a new kit. Is it inappropriate to ask for a definitive 1/48 Aerospatiale Puma at this time? With SAAF decals included? LOL!
There are several subtle differences between this and the HAR 3, including some of the antennas and the position of the refuelling port by the sliding cargo door (one underneath the door, other on the trailing edge). The antennas would be an easy fix, the refuelling port would probably require a new starboard fuselage half.
I’m going to have to buy a new role of raffle tickets, so I can tell my wife ‘look what I just won at the monthly RBL raffle, yet again’. I ran out after the new Sea Fury 🤣🤣
Great to see such an iconic helo. Just one minor error on the airframe .... Station 493 transportation joint modification didn't get embodied until 1989 so the earlier variants from 1970 and 1988 would be inaccurate. These strengthening plates are even visible on the box art.
Has anyone got any info on the air intakes on the SAR scheme C, as this was based where i live and i remember seeing this with the rectangular grilled intake as apposed to the one shown, was this a later upgrade or something like that???
Great kit and, having served on these aircraft for 20 years, I can vouch for their accuracy. However there is an issue and Im wondering if there is a fix in the pipeline. The upper and lower cab doors have no supports and cables included in the model very visible with the doors in the open position which is such a shame. Is there or will there be something to address this. Thank you again for a great kit
Great looking kit and wish you every success. Its odd that of all the schemes you've shown it in the yellow one your sitting in isn't one of them. Just one other what might be considered rather picky I'll admit is that if you look at the rivets next to the door you'll notice that they are proud and not sunken like the model which I would think is not something that would be easy to rectify with a mod. Its the way the surface catches the light that adds to it's realism.
Such a great opening shot of the Canary, does anyone know if there is an aftermarket kit for this version ? I was statioined in the Sinals training dept in Leconfield, and our portacabins (oh we were posh in the 90's) were right at the side of these, and seeing them everyday was a thrill even back then. I would love to be able to recreate one with this kit.

Lol

🤣🤣🤣
Just the boxart would be priceless.

Nice one lads - love the enthusiasm for the kit amongst the team and also the concept of following one airframe through its life. I hope it sells well 👍👍👍
One of my all time favourite aircraft. I am genuinely looking forward to this kit. The professional builds look amazing.
What an entrance! 👍
Great video, and a brilliant looking new kit; I like the concept of the history of one particular airframe.... 🙂
Definite pre-order here... 😉👍
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching 🙂
This team is so dedicated and passionate! I will get all the schemes one day. Thank you guys for improving Airfix so much!
As a cornishman who lives a few hundred yards from Culdrose this is my dream kit. I can die a happy and content man now this kit is released an I can build it. I'm honestly considering buying four to build every option in the box, which I've never done before
A great video and the kit looks like a winner. Well done Airfix
It is a brilliant idea to follow an air-frame through the years. Thank you Airfix.

Fantabulous promo film, well done Airfix.
That is a lovely kit Airfix and you took me by surprise with this one 😀
Great unveiling as well as I have a soft spot for Historic Helicopters 👍
What a informative production for a new kit release! Looks like you guys have a winner here! Well done!
Fantastic, that's going to be a winner! Thank you Airfix!
a fab release this....always loved the seakings and in 1/48 scale thats my fav scale....i did buy the rescue version airfix 1/72 one...was so surprised to see this release...top stuff
Bravo Airfix. I love that you followed the airframe.
Congratulations that's a winner
I recently built the 72nd scale Sea King and enjoyed that, and I like the idea of showing the evolution of one particular aircraft over the years. Might have to buy more than one of these!
That looks great , love the lineup if the four varient schemes

An RAF Wessex first please - oh, and a Puma, then a Chinook HC1, and a Whirlwind, and a Sycamore, and a Belvedere... Army Scout? Too much?
Puma definitely needed , and long overdue for a new Scout / Wasp
Brilliant! Another British icon from a British icon.
What a really great video! The enthusiasm and pride in your beautiful kit shines through! I will enjoy this kit all the more knowing how much work and love went into it. Thanks, guys!
Great news, just today I had make a preorder from Hannants! Compliments guys!!!
Wow! What a wonderful model. I'm waiting to have it! Congrats!
Thank you Airfix. More Helicopters would be greatly appreciated. The H-2 Seasprite in 1:48 and retool the 1:72. Anyway outstanding news.
1/48 sepecat Jaguar next please!!🤩🙏
Outstanding video chaps. Very well done.
Thank you kindly!

100% I’ll be building this having spent a lot of time in Sea Kings!
Yet shows us a *Royal Air Force version* (not included in the kit) landing....
1/24 scale harrier gr9 would be nice, but a retooled p.1127 and GR5 would be HIGHLY appreciated. Would also love to see a hawker kestrel done.
Yup, i've been requesting a GR5/7/9 for many many years. then the after market companies would be in overdrive. imagine the possibilities T10, all AV-8B's
What a lovely and unique idea - following a single aircraft through its beginning to its current life, over 50 years of the airframe.
Looking forward to this one. I love the single machine theme, especially the Portland one, which lives nearby to me. I wondered why you didn't do a yellow ASR but now I know why.
Nice one Airfix, good delivery all round - looking forward to this build!

Flory Models will be liking this 😊
Yep, that's exactly what I thought you'd be announcing. Looks great

Now that is how you do a new kit reveal. Love it.
Fantastic news, Airfix! I am excited and cannot wait! 👍
I'm fortunate to live by Culdrose in Cornwall so had years of seeing and hearing these aircraft almost daily. Lots of locals were sad when they ceased operation.
I did NOT see this one coming, nice one all you at Airfix! 👍🏻👌🏻👏🏻😎
I didn't realise that I needed one, but....😉😆😂🥰😍😎
What a great intro for a new kit. How'd you pull that off? Brilliant!
DAMIAN! I got to work on that one in Depth Maintenance, I then got to work on it again when I joined 771 NAS.
I’ll be getting getting one of these!
So glad you guys are doing this release format now. And what a beauty to do 666(daemon) is a legend. Please do a mk4 for the jungles and maybe a merlin mk1/2.
Scheme A is an absolute beaut
A 22 Squadron set of transfers would have been great too - as I've been flown in the one you see in this video, and 22 Sqn did great work in its rescue role, and finally featured a a certain high profile pilot. Well done to all who kept their lips sealed about this wonderful surprise.
Love the King. Have built all the 1/72 variants. This is a must have for me.
What.??????..Fantastic news and really had to be done by Airfix..Well here another for the pre-order gonna be ordered..(Can’t wait already for my Gannet and Ferret)..Well done Airfix.!.🇬🇧👍
i will buy it as soon as possible..... looks awsome
A Hampden in 1/48 would be a dream come true !
Yep ... I'll go with that :)
Yesohrooney!!!
superb keep them coming
It must be the HMS Warrior I have been asking them for for 8 years 😬😬🙏🏻
The Sea King was put together using dome head rivets. So why is the model covered in perforations?
I'm really excited to see this. I've been waiting patiently for a new-tooled helicopter from Airfix. Awesome helicopter! I wish could sit in one
Like a 1/24th scale Fairy Firefly.
Yeeeeees I'm so excited about this one!
Clever intro. Been waiting for a new sea king. How about a s-55 next?
Very nice model airfix!!❤ the next will be the westland puma 1/48!!
Very nice video! Awesome job lads! 🤩
Glad you enjoyed it!
Please let it not be another bloody Spitfire or Mustang!
Would still love to see a 1/24 me262
Well done Team, a fantastic Premier and announcement 😀
Can´t wait for that one! :)

I'm very much looking forward to building this amazing looking kit!
Best helicopter EVER
Fingers crossed for a 48th scale Vulcan? :P
If the 1/72 wasn't big enough 😂
@@keyboard_monkey5945 i've got one in 1/33rd scale
Congratulations ❤to you wonderful people from Airfix.
What a fantastic surprise. We needed a new 1/48 Sea King, such a cool helicopter with so much history, in so many Countries.
The presentation was also a nice surprise.
I think you will be starting a lot of helicopter builds😄
Thank You👍
This is great news👍
Hurricane Mk.II in 1:24 scale?
Looks sensational, "Boy's Own" stuff to develop that, no doubt. Westland Wasp and Wessex next, please!
Well done! 👏
Ok, well that's quite exciting. I was expecting yet another warbird that I only have a passing interest in, but the Seaking is one of my favourites and with the civil scheme as well, this is a no-brainer.
Nice surprise
@OfficialAirfix top job 👍wasn’t expecting this 😮. Quick question any plans to do the Puma HC2 before it retires…..1/48 👍
God they going to twist my arm AGAIN to buy something. This'll be the fourth time in a month 🙄😉😉🤣
Ooh. Exciting. 😊
It's a 1/24th scale Folland Gnat in Yellow Jack colours.
About time a new sea king kit came along. The burning question for me though is how long after release are we likely to see the RAF HAR 3 version?
Wow, very very nice
Well done @OfficialAirfix can’t wait to build this. Love the idea behind the 4 schemes, very unique. I am already excited about future boxings, maybe a Royal Australian Navy Mk.50A/B?
1/24th Sea Fury 🤔👍

haha
One may always hope
Hi buddy, have you tried the Vallejo Mecha range for wargaming. Made more durable for model/ figures being handled for gaming purposes. Obviously bending will still be the problem but might survive better.
It's the dead queen of course. She's dead and airfix dug her up and molded her to make a 1/1 scale queen.
What a fantastic new kit. Been watching Hornby on BBC Brit (?) and was amazed at what goes into the design of a new kit. Is it inappropriate to ask for a definitive 1/48 Aerospatiale Puma at this time? With SAAF decals included? LOL!
1/35 Humber Mk1 (Pig) for all of us ex 'Banner' squaddies?
Bring it on!
New tooled DH88 Comet....unlikely but we live in hope.
Great stuff Airfix put me down for one or two 😂.
You teased us arriving in aRAF yellow version and then gave us 4 navy ones 😢
@airfix Why didn't you include the iconic RAF yellow version?
There are several subtle differences between this and the HAR 3, including some of the antennas and the position of the refuelling port by the sliding cargo door (one underneath the door, other on the trailing edge). The antennas would be an easy fix, the refuelling port would probably require a new starboard fuselage half.
Awesome Guys.....................Please 1/24 - 1/32nd or even 1/48 Gazelle
I’m going to have to buy a new role of raffle tickets, so I can tell my wife ‘look what I just won at the monthly RBL raffle, yet again’. I ran out after the new Sea Fury 🤣🤣
A 1/24 Mk.VIII Spitfire will split the room! Saying that, I'd buy one! Alternatively 1/350 HMS Queen Elizabeth would be nice too!
1/350 HMS QE would be awesome
Great to see such an iconic helo. Just one minor error on the airframe .... Station 493 transportation joint modification didn't get embodied until 1989 so the earlier variants from 1970 and 1988 would be inaccurate. These strengthening plates are even visible on the box art.

A 1/48 Merlin MK4 would be great
A 1/48 scale Corsair or Barracuda would be a treat or a return of the whirlwind fighter,
Corsair in jet form would be nice. I just love that chin. Like a younger brother of the Tempest
Great looking kit and wish you every success. Its odd that of all the schemes you've shown it in the yellow one your sitting in isn't one of them. Would love to see some US Navy schemes of H-3.
