- Information Society (también conocida como InSoc) es una banda originaria de Minneapolis, Minnesota, EE. UU. Desde sus bases nacieron los primeros elementos del Techno Soft, mezcla del synth melódico, elementos del Funk y soul. Forjaron el paradigma del Synthpop Estadounidense, generando con ello un puñado de bandas emergentes que siguiendo el legado, irrumpieron en la escena mundial.Su formación consiste en: la voz principal Kurt Larson (alias Kurt Valaquen/Kurt Harland), Paul Robb y James Cassidy, los dos últimos volvieron a reunir a la banda en el 2006, inicialmente con Christopher Anton como vocalista, luego con Harland se reunió con ellos como vocalista en el 2007. Su éxito fue en 1988 con el sencillo "What's on Your Mind (Pure Energy)", un sencillo de dance/synthpop que incluyó una frase de esta canción en Star Trek, Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy) dice "pure energy", y ocurre lo mismo con el Dr. McCoy (DeForest Kelley), también en Star Trek, diciendo: "It's worked so far, but we're not out yet!". Son conocidos por su gran cantidad de leales seguidores en Brasil, Japón, España y México. Information Society es considerada el mejor exponente del Synthpop del otro lado del Atlantico y fueron la respuesta estadounidense a la Segunda Invasión de las máquinas desde el Reino Unido.

It's interesting how they depicted things on the show, versus how they actually happened. For instance, on the show they made it seem like Amanda was the last band member Aamer accosted, and after the the three guys all refusing (rightly) to not discuss why she left the band. But according to Kurt, at one point Aamer actually says "Amanda told us what happened" and Kurt told him, "Then why are you asking ME?!", so clearly the VH-1 people knew about it before talkikng to Kurt, if not Paul and/or Jim. And Kurt makes a good point, if Amanda already told you, WHY do you need me to talk about it, and as he says, they were clearly looking for "dirt", they wanted him (and Jim and Paul, probably) to say something dishonorable, and it's a credit to them that they all three refused to take the bait.
This band opened my eyes to a whole new genre of music I was never able to embrace before. It was new, original and so damned good. The music they created was absolutely flawless. If I fumbled the radio tuner and thought I heard one of their songs I would frantically try to tune it in. The DJ at the City Nightclub in Portland, Oregon, would do these awesome mixes using the extended instrumentals with several songs. But the most awesome song they recorded was from one of my all-time favorite bands - "Lay All Your Love On Me" from ABBA. I was so sure at this point I wasn't the only closet ABBA fan. Their version of Lay All Your Love On Me me was so awesome. And I don't believe ABBA consents to use of their music very often. I never heard what their opinion was of the song, but they had to be pleased.
Wow, VH1 treated her not too nice but Look at her she is a RECOVERYING SURVIVOR and we love her. Ive seen her w the Furs a ton of times

She was with the Furs, that wasn't a secret, this whole "help us find Amanda" thing was a total fabrication for dramatic effect. She was probably the easiest one to find. Kurt later said they knew all along he wasn't going to be there and he was pissed off that they acted like there was "a chance" and that he was "letting down the fans."
I could tell Kurt is a peculiar person, but not in any bad way. He has a specific vision and personality. He is very funny onstage, though. Amanda has no time to go back; Furs tours constantly.
I feel a lot of love between them and I love them ❤

@@faraon2012 si se reunieron y sacaron varios discos, es viejo este programa, del 2004.
I met them when they came to Argentina in 2014. And Paul Robb told me that they have already met before that "longtime reunion" scene. So...

Cual fue la razon por la que Kurt no se reunio al final? Me gustaba mucho esta banda y los llegue a ver en concierto en la Florida.

very good point....but for the must part, the people seemed to enjoy the experience and cherished there reunions with there particular bands.

Y si...se arrepintió , volvió tres años después a formar parte de la banda original en 2007 .

It is my honest opinion that the 'hit's' that Tommy Boy (A primarily hip-hop/Club label at the time) latched onto pushed them into completely 'Club/Dance' markets. Which I don't think Kurt really was ready for. At this timeframe there was experimental electronica synth pop (at the time was referred to as 'Club/Dance music' was slowly evolving into something beyond 'New Wave'at the time. It was a relatively 'New Sound'so to speak. Especially for America. Which is why at the time as a child hearing their well known songs I was totally sure that there were another Anglofied electronica group solely due to the sound of Kurt's voice didn't scream American Midwest to me. I believe if they had signed to Rough Trade things may had been a little different for them TBH.

Was the band REALLY THAT STRAIGHTEDGE that even the discussion about Amanda's heroin use was THAT uncomfortable??!! I mean it was the 80's for crying out loud. You mean to tell me no one else in the band ever partook in substances???!!

This show is the typical american show, the idea is good, but the treatment of the musicians sucks!!!!. Apart from that, the interviews are completely edited in favour of the show itself.
