I first heard this song in 85 (I think), on the boom box of a young Latino kid selling Hot dogs from his father's cart, just outside my apartment complex in Rego Park, Queens (New York City). I was a young & handsome, very well paid, 28 years old paralegal on Wall Street. I never heard of Information Society B4 that day. But, the melody of the song just grabbed me & tore my heart even B4 I realized what he was singing about. Reminds me of Midge Ure who also sings in that sardonic style. Later, when I actually paid attention 2 the lyrics, I just felt he was singing my life's story at the time (without ever having met me). Fast forward to 1987; I met & fell in love with the first girl I ever engaged to be married to. "Singles going steady" as it were... Took her out on a date to a Roller Skating Rink at Queens Borough County Park (the same park I first saw The Ramones in 84). It was my first time in roller skates. After much wobbling, I finally got the hang of it; & to my utter DELIGHT as we were skating, "Running" came on the sound system! I almost burst out crying right there in front of my dear Tatiana, as we held hands, skating slowly on the inside lanes. My hand got clamy, my heart raced & almost pounded itself out of my chest cavity. She noticed a change in me, pulled me over to the side & said "U OK? I nodded yes & added... "It's just this song. It does something to me." She looked up to me, smiled, kissed me gently and slowly pulled me back into the ring past all these other good-looking young people (teenyboppers, 20s and a few 30 something year olds). I was so in love; so emotional; so content & simultaneously so happy & so sad. Fast forward 37 years & 2 divorces later, it seems just like yesterday. I'll pay good money if I could get those years back. Oh! This melancholia! But, life is still good. Thanks for posting this original version.
Is this the original song that was written and recorded by short-lived band member Murat Konar who left the band in 1985? Nice! I love it! Thank you for sharing!
thank you for uploading this, it's very cool to hear the progression of the song. Edit: I went out and bought this 12-in single in 1986. There is no Google then and I had the most difficult time going into each record store and trying to sing the chorus to figure out which song it was until one guy knew it.
Sounds like a white label test version....nice, warm and authentic. I frickin love it and when I close my eyes, my fingers can almost feel the grooves on the record and dots on the side of the platter of my 1200 as it spins round and round. Ahhh...the memories.
This is the original Wide Angle Records version of "Running" from '85. When the group signed to Tommy Boy Records in '86, a number of remixes were recorded, including a more polished version of "Running" with the chorus most heads know and love today.
Interesting version. I like the original but this version has a somewhat lovely demo feel both regarding vocals and instrumentals. A must have for any InSoc fan.
And im running so hard! And im running so fast! And im telling myself our romance can not last! And if someday i need. And ill come back from the past. ill stand by the door.
This is the wide angle records 1st release ever of this song long before Tommy boy records ever stepped in to rework and release it with Kurt’s vocals..on this 1st ever recording and release the vocals were done by Murat konar..and all I gotta say is Thank goodness for Tommy boy and Kurt!

Yes. This was the original 'green map' label release.
All versions of Running are sung by Murat Konar. Kurt only sang it live.

That Version Is The First And The Original Version of This Song And The First Vocal of This Song From 1984.
I just downloaded this as MP3. This is THE ORIGINAL version, and this is only the second time I have ever heard this version, so raw, in a good way.
thanks for the extra production time put on this tune, back when purely electronic timbre and sequencing was a rarity. inspiring (vst dev)
This is the first version, the second one they improved the voices

Murat Konar.

This one really sounds like Murat Konar version... maybe I´m wrong...
I had an old demo tape of this and I'm thinking it's the same vocal. One of the best electro jams ever.
You are not wrong.
Excelente Grupo
Me parece um cover version, ou tipo acústica...
The original vocal is horrific!
