It’s so refreshing to hear someone say, “I’m not ‘supposed’ to wear this, but I like how it looks, so I do!” I also feel that way about turtlenecks. Your explanation of which knit you use for which pattern type is also so helpful! Thank you for all the great teaching

TY for a wonderful segment & I feel you. My "baby" is leaving Friday for his 4th year of college. That's it. Last one will be off and running into adulthood. Good luck & God bless your twins as they begin this new segment.
Thanks Whitney! Very helpful video. With Spring/ summer around the corner I was thinking my wardrobe really needs some plain coloured tee shirts. Hugs to you. My last one graduated from high school last December. I was never one to be happy to send the kids off to school to be rid of them. It’s the toughest thing watching them grow and be gone. I’ve spent the last 37 years raising my kids, it’s time to find me again. For what it’s worth, I can gain or lose 10 lbs of water weight in 2 or 3 days. I did the keto diet last year and lost heaps, no sugar, very low carbs. You lose a lot of water weight the first week . Not sure if that’s helpful but it sure changed my life. 😌
I love these types of videos. I have just perfected a crew neck tee - you’d think it would be easy, but actually its pretty challenging! I ended up with closet core nettie, with the tiniest adjustment to the neckline. So I can use the fabric store merino and some other wool knits to make some really lovely versions. I’ll take them slow! All the very very best with your letting go of the young ones, it must be harder with twins as its both at the same time!! It really has been so different with you know what and a lot to adjust to!!??!!
I loved this roundup! Ooo now I'm really curious about what big projects you're planning for TomKat Stitchery in the background... Hopefully something with Makers Hideaway or along those lines! Will patiently wait and see 😊
Thank you for the good information on patterns and where to buy quality knits. Love it!!!! Just learning to sew with knits. You mentioned the effects of COVID 19 on peoples health, so true. I am a dietitian and I work part time for the VA in an outpatient clinic. I have seen not just the weight gain, also increase In cholesterol, other health related labs and the mental health problems from isolation. Looking to happier time for out country. I hope and prayers for your health to improve soon ❤️
I love this video! Great info! I learned so much about fabric. Your discussion on which fabric shops really caught my attention as I can’t find any good ones around here, and I really miss touching fabric and feeling the thickness and stretch in person. I always appreciate your lipstick, and decided to go look up some of MAC colors on their website. Well, it turned into a very entertaining trip with their online try on experience! I tried on eye shadows and lipstick and oh my goodness was it an experience! ❤️ So much fun! My 33 yo son and 3 yo son also got to try some on, lol.
This is great! Right now I'm loving the Esme top by Jennifer Lauren, Cachet by Sinclair, Iris by Forget-Me-Not, and I need to sew a Hello Gorgeous by Pattern Emporium. I also need to try a few from this video, thank you 🙂
Great video, Whitney. I have most of the patterns you listed but I’m always interested in your thoughts them. Also, I greatly appreciate your info on different fabric substrates and places to buy quality knits. I’m excited about your business plans even tho I have no idea what they are. I just know they will awesome. I’ll be keeping you in my prayers as you move forward. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank for great info! I use a wonderful square neckline knit top with fabulous fitting lines for full bust is the MISTY TOP by Andrea Davis. Sleeves and length can be hacked into great looks. You would love the fit!
Loved the video! Buying great fabric is a problem... I go and ask for viscose jersey and get a blank look :) lol .. enjoy high school .. it's an adventure as a parent too!
I just love your channel Whitney! I wish we lived closer so you could be my sewing mentor ❤️ At least I have your channel!! Unless you want to move to west Texas, I'm just sayin' 🤣😂🤣
Thank you, this was so informative. I started sewing clothing a few months ago and I really don't know where to buy fabrics and what fabrics are best for t shirts and tops. Additionally the pattern reviews were so helpful. I've made 2 t-shirts that have been fails because I chose the wrong fabric. I will take your advise and try again.
I really like the Megan Nielsen Rowan top and bodysuit and Grainline Studios Lark Tee. Both come with a variety of options and fit me well (broad-ish square shoulders and small bust).
Great vid, and I didn't have twins, but I have had "empty nest syndrome" several times over in my adult life. It's never easy-and it is hard to send them off to high school-and then college. I have a very large bust, and I know that turtlenecks aren’t supposed to be the most flattering style for me, but I love them, too. So, I just wear them anyway.
Loved the tops. I have a tendency to swell in the summer time and once the weather turns cooler I lose the swelling. Sometimes a little elastic in the waist line helps. I’m hoping to get back into a little sewing next week. My leg is still little tight and sore and using a cane can be tiresome.
As usual, great info and video. I have the same body shape as you, so I’ll definitely be trying some of the patterns - I actually already have some of them👍🏻. You mentioned Interlock jersey in one of your videos some time ago and I really liked the look of the top you made from it. Where would it fit in your list of favs and which pattern(s) would it be good for? Thanks Whitney ❤️
I find cotton interlock to be very similar to ponte knit so it’s great for tops where you want more of a sweater or sweatshirt. I have made the Itch to Stitch Gothenburg top in an interlock as well as a cropped Concord T-shirt. They feel more like sweaters to me. It’s a very easy fabric to sew!
