    It’s so refreshing to hear someone say, “I’m not ‘supposed’ to wear this, but I like how it looks, so I do!” I also feel that way about turtlenecks. Your explanation of which knit you use for which pattern type is also so helpful! Thank you for all the great teaching

      I like knowing the rules of what my body type is "supposed" to wear so I can break them and understand why I do or don't like a particular piece. I do enjoy a good turtleneck!

    It’s always a delight to sit down and have a ‘chat’ with you. Today my ASG garment group met and we were sharing our favorite UA-cam channels. There were around 11 of us there with two people who don’t do UA-cam at all so out of 8 folks, three of us had you on our list! None of us share your body type but we love your enthusiasm and your professional skills. Yay for you!

    Thanks Whitney! Very helpful video. With Spring/ summer around the corner I was thinking my wardrobe really needs some plain coloured tee shirts. Hugs to you. My last one graduated from high school last December. I was never one to be happy to send the kids off to school to be rid of them. It’s the toughest thing watching them grow and be gone. I’ve spent the last 37 years raising my kids, it’s time to find me again. For what it’s worth, I can gain or lose 10 lbs of water weight in 2 or 3 days. I did the keto diet last year and lost heaps, no sugar, very low carbs. You lose a lot of water weight the first week . Not sure if that’s helpful but it sure changed my life. 😌

    I love these types of videos. I have just perfected a crew neck tee - you’d think it would be easy, but actually its pretty challenging! I ended up with closet core nettie, with the tiniest adjustment to the neckline. So I can use the fabric store merino and some other wool knits to make some really lovely versions. I’ll take them slow! All the very very best with your letting go of the young ones, it must be harder with twins as its both at the same time!! It really has been so different with you know what and a lot to adjust to!!??!!

      I find cotton interlock to be very similar to ponte knit so it’s great for tops where you want more of a sweater or sweatshirt. Love this, but then what videos of yours don't I love? A couple weeks ago on a well deserved day at the lake I hit up a tent sale at our favourite Mexican Mennonite store (stopped for breakfast burritos and was thrilled to see the tent up!). Knowing most of their fabrics are Polycottons and Poly-knits I usually only buy fabric for wearable muslins. Due to the Covid 19+ I'm needing more tank and t-shirt dresses to get me through to winter so I lucked out on some Poly-knits! 3 separate prints, 3 metres each, 3 dresses for less than $15 CAN ! Not sure how they wear, but what do you think about poly knit for t-shirts or dresses? Supplements for inflammation, do you mind messaging or emailing what your doctor put you on? Just curious if they are similar or the same to what mine put me on. Instead of thinking you are losing your twins, think of it as gaining your 'you' back!

    • @TomKatStitchery
      @TomKatStitchery  3 роки тому

      I think poly knits can work for t-shirts. They can get a bit warm, but that might be an issue!

      😂 it’s ok! I would start with a good ponte (rayon/nylon/spandex blends are my favorite) or a cotton interlock (make sure it also has some spandex). They are the easiest to work with. The next easiest is cotton/spandex jersey. Make sure you use a stretch or zig zag stitch for your seams and use a ball point or stretch needle. Other than that, it’s just practice!
