Loved this! I bought one in 1982 and still have it, will never get rid. Exactly as you tell it, I upgraded from a Columbus strat to mine, everything about the sound, feel, the build quality for the £50 (?) more than the Columbus and how it was better than other guitars in the shop £200 more.
Malko I often come across you on here when searching Westones but I’ve never commented before. Just wanted to say you have this incredible energy. You just come across as a smashing lad and you’re very charismatic. Keep doing your thing fella.
Jeez, I didn't realize they were such a good quality guitar, I bought mine in the late eighties for £30 1982 version, serial number on the back of the headstock with the same 'Westone' decal as yours still have it to this day.
Hi Malko, I got an 82 version. Brilliant guitar! Sounds better than a Gibson Les Paul I once played. You can't beat a Westone for the quality and price.
yeah - this ones not quite playing its best at the mo, i have it in for a setup so will do a video later in the week actually playing it.there is a reason i have a pile of early 80s japanese guitars rather than having the usual gibsons and fenders...
@@WilliamLithgowGuitars think he had the fx which is the neck thru model but maybe not... as we all know bolt on is superior to set neck and neck thru....

The Paduak had a six a side and the early Concords have a more Paduak shaped body. My Thunder I has MMK45s in it, too. The tapered pots were a fantastic piece of engineering. I need some more for a Spectrum III I need to recommission (and got for buttons) and have a Spectrum DX with perfect examples, so before I sell that one, I'll cast some. Maybe before the year is out.
yes the early concord shape - i have a concord bass that shape , my concord h2 guitar is thunder shape, actually very similar to the spectrum 3, the "suregrip" (or whatever those knobs are called) are metal on my s3 and prestige but think they were plastic on the spectrum range

That's identical to my first ever guitar, which I bought on 11 November 1987. So glad I got that, as any other guitar, I might have given up, as it wasn't well set up, but could be. It's a fantastic guitar - as good as any other Japanese guitar. Great that he still has the brass knobs, as mine was missing one and I put some white speed knobs on mine. That's my favourite version. Not keen On the ones with coloured wings.

10:15, yes, the things ya eat will come out in yr general body oder. ngl i'm vegan so i tend to avoid the grease honk bc the most of what i tend to get is smelling like beer or mild seasoning lmao. also, someone linked this in a GumTree ad for this guitar so i hope ye feel like a point of call for yr guitar knowledge / playthroughs! a guitar being sold in Glasgow, no less either
Had one ..sounds EXACTLY like Schecter S1 when active overdrive is on ..listen to Saturday night Holocaust by Dead Kennedys and u have that exact sound .i paid 185 quid in 81 ..not keen on the chunky bit that bolts the neck to the body at the back tho and it ate 9v batterys

Paduak, Dave Brock had one. He was well into his Westone's of various models.
