Dude I know, i thought since school was about to start she would be busy and naturally be posting less but I was so wrong. I don't know how she's doing it
I want to just comment here for those of us who have a job during school- I worked through my entire undergrad and now masters to pay for school. Please remember that most profs are people! Don't be afraid to discuss potential extensions due to your workload, and try to schedule your week ahead of time to balance things. It's not easy, I never took a full course load and that is OKAY. Academia is wonderful, but it is hard if you have to work to pay for it. If you can't do every extra reading, it is okay. You can do it.
I needed to hear this, thank you! I didn’t work along side my undergrad but for my masters I am, so I’m nervous that I won’t be able to handle the workload of doing both simultaneously. Good luck with your masters! 💕
I recently explained to my professor what my full time work week and part time hobbie (ballet) looks like and that I basically only had weekends to complete my assignments and catch up work and she was more than open to allowing me to have extensions if I need them and even mentioned I had a lot on my plate! Hopefully they are open to understanding, but if not we thankfully have Ruby to help us to use our time better :)
Okay, but your non-academic life is not really your professors business. I also had four side jobs next to my full-time Masters and I never asked for an extension. I mean at this point you are an adult and should be able to handle your life yourself and make things work. I wouldn't count on your professors kindness and only discuss extension when it is really necessary, not in advance. There are so many students out there who are doing the same hours of work and are able to handle it, so at some point it will just be unfair to others. Also, even when you get an extension, you will still have to do the work and I don't see the difference in doing the work before the deadline or after. In reality, you won't have more time to do your assignment even if you get an extension. You will just stress more about it 😂
@@AndNowIJustSitInSilence would you like a gold medal or something? Perhaps one for a rather insensitive comment, or one for failing to consider other people's situations perhaps being different than yours?
I only disagree with one tip, after school you’re so exhausted and worked to your limit it’s good to take a little time to yourself to get your energy levels back so it’s important to take a break

Hi Ruby, I’ve just discovered your channel and my kids and I are binge watching! They loved the one about romanticizing autumn and winter :) would you ever make a video about how to make friends in school? One of my kids is shy but she relates to you so much, I think hearing your advise and encouragement would so help. Anyhow, thank you for all you do! What a lovely channel.
Ruby, these are very good tips that you are giving to students who are starting the school year. When I used to study at University and at a community college, I always studied in the afternoon and evening because I felt that I could absorb more facts. I wanted to refresh my memory in the mornings.
Hi Ruby, Just wanted to say how much I love your videos. I'm likely one of your oldest subscribers but find your content very useful and motivating for life in general. I love your intentionality! I've encouraged my children to watch your videos, not for any impact on academic life but for your positivity and authenticity. It's ok to be you, whoever that is. I hope you have a wonderful time at university and enjoy your courses and university life.
Timeblocking is so good, I started doing that somepoint last year and I want to continue it. The 5 minute timer is helpful too, starting is the hardest part, I totally agree
You are the only study channel I fully trust, Ruby. Every single one of your tips have always been helpful and I love how consistent and dedicated you are !!!
I've been watching your channel for years now, since my interest in productive academia in high school. While i may not have all your tips down to a T it really does give me so much motivation to see you consistently striving for your goals. So thank you for being an amazing role model and honestly just being your self! ☺
Thank you so much for this video. I have missed all of your study tips so much! They are extremely helpful as I tend to procrastinate a lot. To be honest all of your videos really do make my day so much better, I really hope you never stop posting as you are my comfort youtuber. I know you will probably never see this but I love you so much!!!! Xoxox, Aidi
I'm going back to uni in october to do a master degree after working for 3 years. I am so excited to be back in the "academia-lifestyle" but I think I'll need some time to get my old routines back. Your tips will definetely help! And it's so cool that you are going back to studying at the same time. I'm looking forward for your oxford videos, your study tips. This is perfect timing. Thank you for your work and for this amazing video!
Amazing channel! I always come back to it. It's great to see that this is your way of life and not something you are being forced to do. It's also great that after years, you haven't started to do drugs or normalizing alcohol. The consistency is amazing
I love asking chatgpt to write questions of summarize tests. I always start very motivated, but halfway the semester when work is piling up I forget to do it myself so it’s a helpful tool that saves so much time!
i haven't even finished the video and i know it will be great. ive always wanted to see a video with you and blakeney! maybe a q and a about you guys as friends? i'd love to learn how you met and what it's like finding friends with similar interests and personalities. also just to learn more about blakeney, she seems really cool!
I absolutely love your channel and your writing. I'm beginning my A-Levels soon and I've just ordered your academic planner and I can't wait for it to arrive!
My pumpkin productivity planner just came today! I can't stop looking at it, the spreads are so perfect and I just know how much its gonna keep me motivated and 'on track' throughout the year
I want to add the importance of getting a good night's sleep (without being greedy about it). Additionally, studying in a community or finding a study buddy to mutually monitor and enhance study progress is beneficial. It's also crucial to break the sedentary mode by incorporating sports and physical activities into the routine.
One thing I've had as a problem ever since I finished secondary is knowing how to study, I never found my way to it so I'm trying to prepare myself and understand how and seeing what works best for me before my academic year starts again which is in around a month by now and honestly I am very excited about it.
So obsessed with your channel!! I love how you are genuinely into studying and not just for the aesthetic side 😩🩷 English is my second language but watching you makes me want to read so much more ! Grateful I found your channel especially since I just started my Bachelors Degree
Thank you so much for this video, Ruby - these tips are all so beneficial!!! I am so excited to get back into the new academic year, and hope everyone has a lovely and (more than just!) a productive year to come! ❤
I like your stance on the use of A.I. I agree that people need to learn to do the work themselves. If everyone just relies on A.I., no one will know how to actually do things themselves. Also, that you gave examples about how A.I. is best when doing repetitive tasks that are tedious and don't require your creativity, like doing the reference sources. It's always good to see what strategies successful people use to succeed, like Ruby.
I would say that a routine after school / university / work helps a lot to be productive, because you will have a strict schedule and time management and there is no time for procrastination :)
This video came at the perfect time; I just got accepted onto my dream course at university, and I am so excited and motivated to start and get studying! Ruby, thank you for always posting such helpful, kind and calming videos. Your study videos kept me enthused about learning throughout my exams and all your university vlogs have made me so excited for what's next.
Thank you for this! I am so excited to start my 2nd year at uni...my timetable is also great for me as it's 2-4 which is a time I am still productive and also leaves me time in the mornings to do notes etc as I am a complete morning person as last years timetable required me to work later on the night which just did not work for me so I am excited for it! I really want to de-clutter my desk too before I start as I think that's where some of my distractions come from so hopefully that will help too
I’m starting my masters in creative writing this September and I tend to work/ writing for two hours a day and the rest is reading (is either fiction for class or for personal which ends up helping with my work). I need to put some productivity app on my phone as I use my iPad more for work. Using the note app for ideas, either handwriting or typed (anything is good).
