I remember a story Doyle told about he and the band, while in New York City, decided to site see a little. As they were boarding a ferry and somehow Doyle got caught with a pocket knife. Doyle explained to the authorities that they were a harmless group of bluegrass musician's out to see the town a little. The man holding Doyle's knife said to Doyle, "Prove it." Mind you this was back in the "Heavenly Treasures" era....... Doyle and the group broke out the Acapella rendition and hit song, "Jezebel." 2 and a half minutes later, after a very loud applause by fellow onlookers, Doyle got his knife back and was permitted to pass.

Doyle has been the best musical mentor in my lifetime. He has always been cordial to me. He even played my mandolin for 30 minutes at the museum of Appalachia.
