I'll be 88 come March 25 and this video brought tears to my eyes; knowing that almost ALL of these singers are either gone or on their way! Thank you to whoever is responsible for this video for the good memories and wonderful songs!
I got my baptism in Bluegrass from that Wheeling WV. station that is only about 50 miles from Grandad's house in Ohio. Well, it's 50 miles as the crow flies...
I'M FROM. TEXAS TOO , AND. BEING. MEXICAN IS. JUST. FINE. WITH ME. , I. HAD. MANY. MEXICAN. FRIENDS , AND. A. COUPLE OF. MEXICAN. GIRLFRIENDS. TOO , IN. TEXAS. WE. ARE. ALL TEXANS , ARE. TEJHANOS. . BUT. THE. LOVE OF. BLUEGRASS. MUSIC ISENT. AN. ETHNIC THING , IT. IS. THE. LOVE. OF. MUSIC , AND. PLOKA MUSIC. IS. COOL. TOO. ! SHAME. ON. THE. RACESTS. !
I hear you brother, especially when we have folks who adore a former President that brags about molesting women and children, attacking the United States Capitol and claims to be the "Chosen One" while never confessing his sins and not being Baptized. It's frustrating to see this Biblical Beast of Revelations develop and thrive right before our very eyes!
I will be 88 years old April 2nd 2024 congratulations Mike......I hope your health is good as mine......I am going strong.....praise the Lord! Looking forward to going home and seeing all my family that has gone before, as these musicians have all headed that way I look forward to seeing them there also!!! God Bless you and keep you....see you there!!!
I live in Canada and grew up in the 40's and 50's listened then on the radio to to Bluegrass. have loved it all my life now 83. Drove to Nashville a few times met Bill Monroe and Ricky Scaggs. You folks are just the best to carry on the music we love, Thank you.
I so love Mac Wiseman's voice and the man. My dad, many years ago when I was a little girl, sang his songs to me and he also had the same sound as Mac. Time hasn't changed his voice, he still sounds beautiful. Very much enjoyed the show.
Hi boys , Dan Rumer here . Jenni Lyn Rumer 's husband . I really liked this take on Arkansas, singing of course great. The fiddle background Stewart wow. Ron great banjo work. I loved the fiddle you done on Jenni Lyn's second cd. You are all great.
Love these shows and stories. Loved BILL ANDERSON. SEE DAILEY AND VINCENT WHO I love very much. Wish I could afford to go to some shows. I am 79 with health problems and use a rollator. Thanks for sharing with us.
I suppose I am a little spoiled when it comes to Bluegrass music. I live in eastern Kentucky in an adjoining county where Keith Whitley came from (Elliott) and another adjoining county where Ricky Skaggs comes from (Lawrence). A little bit of trivia, although Keith and Ricky lived in adjoining counties they never met until they came to my county (Morgan) for a Bluegrass competition in a little place called Ezel, KY about 5 miles from my house, that was MANY years ago. In the 70's my cousin and I went to a Bluegrass festival at Natural Bridge State Park in Slade, KY where Ralph Stanley was playing. Keith Whitley was with Ralph then, I was standing about three feet from Keith, man could that guy pick and play a guitar and sang his tail off. The thing that struck me most was the interaction the guys on the stage had with the fans. It was like everybody there was friends and had knew each other for years, it was AWESOME!! Back in the 50's the Osbournes lived in Dayton, OH and my mom worked with Bobby at NCR. I say that to say this, Bobby (Now deceased) and his cousin Dean Osborne who has played with The Osbournes and Bobby numerous times, taught Bluegrass music at the Hazard Community College in Hazard, KY. Dean's wife Sara's mother and grandmother were two ladies I had known my entire life. When Sara's grandmother Verna passed away, my mom and dad and I got to meet and get acquainted with Dean, a very nice man. Dean was telling us about the annual Osbourne Bluegrass Festival that was going to happen just a couple of weeks from then in Hyden, KY and invited us to it, now my mom and dad had never been to anything like that, they were just plain country folks that went to work and church and that was about it. Dean convinced them to come and gave us tickets to get in and told my mom and dad when they showed up he would show them around and introduce them to the singers there. The day finally arrived and I took my mom and dad to Hyden because they didn't have a clue on how to get there. True to his word, when Dean seen us come through the gate, he showed up in a 4 seater golf cart and picked us up and took us to a road that had several tour buses parked one behind the other and took us on board each one introducing us to whoever was on the buses, mostly members of the band. About all the singers were behind the stage or some on stage. At that point I got out of the golf cart and went to the bleachers to listen to the music. Dean took my mom and dad behind the stage to finish the meet and greet and so my mom could reunite with Bobby and reminisce about their days at NCR. I will ALWAYS be grateful to Dean Osbourne to take the time to give two plain country folks that at least one day in their lives they got the VIP treatment. THANKS DEAN, for what you did for my mom and dad, I appreciate it more than you know. A fan of Bluegrass music, yes, but I think I am even a bigger fan of who the people are that sing it.
Love this! Rocky top is one of my favorites. My sister and I used to sing it when she was in a band a few years ago. She sang the harmony. I miss those days, but now I play guitar and sing in a gospel group. I love all these programs Larry Black has done. ❤❤
Wonderful! A few decades ago I was the tour bus driver for the Osborne Brothers in Sweden. It was a very nice time. It was winter And Bobby had a cold, bur the performances were excellent.

My what a small World it is. I am originally from Upstate NY about 45 miles away from Malone, NY. I used to go to the Franklin County Fair in Malone every Summer, but I never ever heard of the Gibson Brothers though.
Thank you for posting this. I'll be keeping an eye out for part 2. It is a shame these family reunions aren't taking place any more. So many stories are being lost as members of this family pass away.
A modern Bluegrass Group that you need to check out is the combo of Mo Pitney and John Meyer with fill in members for each of their families. Terrific!
@@ronaldgrider7810 i get physically angry and sometimes nauseous when they play it on a radio station at work. I did write a country song called” my wife ran off with my best friend and I miss him “ though. My sons went from being a heavy metal band to a country band .I am so ashamed. I wonder if there is therapy or intervention for that?
I love listening to the brothers from malone. my daughter sandra and husband jim wagner live in Barker.just 1 half mile from the rainbow bridge and can you believe it because of 9 11 they need a visa or whatever you call it to go into Canada.
Woody F. Herman!! ? Woody Herman and Mac Wiseman "My Blue Heaven". What year? I can't believe it. And Barney F. Kessel? Who is this man Mac Wiseman? I'm rarely surprised.
Was that car in the background formerly owned By Max Obie? He had what I believe was a 1927 Cadillac V-12 that was seen as a taxi in the beginning of the Eddy Duchin story.
Absolutely phenomenal! My favorite part was Ron's banjo backup to Arkansas...SO tasty! Darrin even turned and smiled at him
Rest in peace Bobby Osborne and all of the legends of country music
Appreciate y'all and y'all's recognition of bluegrass ain't many doin that properly these days.

I am 86 and feel the same, all the bluegrass and country music legends I grew up with are either gone or will be much too soon...😪
Mac Wiseman was one of my Dad and my favorites.
My Appalachian grandfather loved Bluegrass and once told me it was “honest music.” “Just wires and wood.”
Best use of rocking chairs ever. Mac sounds better than ever. We need more young people.
im 42 and i love this music, got my love for it from my father. thank you for putting this out there
