She literally said at the beginning that she wasn’t looking for anything serious. If Tom had a problem with that - and he did very clearly - he should’ve been upfront about it. She was also right at the end: that Tom wasn’t wrong about love, but that he was wrong about them. They had different ideas and feelings about what they wanted. There was love there sure, but they just weren’t right for each other.
@JoshuaKimbrough you're right, she did lead him on. As much as Tom should have avoided her since she said she didn't belive in love Dinner should have left him alone when he said he did. At the beginning both explained their ideological differences but both went against here judgement. They're both to blame in reality
Everyone realizes and accepts that. What Tom in this movie, as well as many people in life struggle with is accepting or getting over that not everyone is gonna want to be in or fit in to your idealized relationship with them. Tom wanted Summer one way, it wasn’t that Summer didn’t want Tom, it’s that she didn’t want him in that same way Tom idealized their relationship or imagined their relationship should be.
Ok if she don't want him why playing with his feelings?? She made tom fall for her and keep sayin she don't wanna be in relationship but end up marrying someone within a month. If you don't want something don't go for it why play with someone feelings
@@bankai_hakkanotogame In the beginning of their relationship Summer was already very upfront with Tom and communicated with him about not wanting to be committed, not wanting anything serious and that she doesn't believe in love and that she just wants to have fun but Tom was in denial. Tom was the one setting himself up for that heartbreak because he thinks that he can change Summer's mind about her views in love. I recommend reading "(500) Days Of Summer: 18 Important Lessons About Love" it's an article from screen rant, you can look it up on google.
This movie is almost 15 years old and has been analyzed to death, yet people still act like Summer or Tom are the villain. She just didn’t like Tom enough to marry him. She took too long to figure that out, hurting him in the process, but for Tom ignored the signs and never really saw Summer as a complete person until the end. Neither is really at fault. It just didn’t work out.
Exactly, the movie shows us that in most relationships, there usually isn't a villain and it isn't black and white but very complex and many shades of gray. Its a fantastic movie.
Finally, someone who gets it. People need to remember sometimes there is NO villain. Sometimes it’s just two people who made a mistake. Tom, as you said, ignored the signs that were there. Summer, as you said, took too long to figure out her TRUE feelings about Tom. But once they both found these out, it was too late. Damage had already been dealt. And that’s life. We will meet people. We start to think it could become something more. Then…. it doesn’t work out. So many people say the ending is bad, when I think it’s an example of a lot not really paying attention to what the film is trying to say. The movie is the LITERAL manifestation of how life works. We realize love is stupid when our hearts are broken, but end up meeting the right person. (500) Days of Summer is a movie that doesn’t have a villain. Exactly there’s so many idiots that blame and put shit on tom and idolize summer, the movie is about 2 humans that wanted something different simple as that
@@abdulazizhawsah9884no they very much did. they both were in the wrong, but yes it is more easier to empathise for Tom. a lot of ppl tend to be like him (even me, with experiences.) with getting lost with and putting a false narrative on someone to what you imagine in your mind, to love a version you created. because you’d want them to be the person that perhaps you should be then instead find in another. and, to find someone and love them, for *them.* summer was wrong because; it’s a good thing she stated at the very beginning her view on love and how she wasn’t nor wants someone at all. she wanted nothing serious as she stated a lot however, although not her responsibility, seeing how repetitive Tom was getting with trying to make her change her mind about it, she should’ve ended it there and then/get away from him, especially when she did wake up one day and realised she wasn’t sure about him. essentially leading Tom on, letting him assume in the future it’ll be more. She also, should’ve told him she was engaged and not still leave Tom hanging before he had to see for himself. He deserved an actual explanation back then, then at the very end. Tom was wrong because; he didn’t respect her boundaries, besides the only real thing Tom liked her for was the fact they shared the same music taste - his sister was right with what she said at him and then came the rest, she made it clear, she wanted nothing serious within the whole movie and because of his expectations, he was pushing more which made him stay around with her, he shouldn’t have, he shouldn’t have expected way more he was getting in return, if anything that is, which lead to him getting hurt. again, he shouldn’t had to find out the way he did at the end, he deserved pure honesty when they talked again and she was engaged but being repetitive can make another find it hard to be honest especially with how much Tom was going against her boundaries. that’s the whole point of 500 days of summer, the book really is more accurate at showing that, but in general, most books are. 500 days of summer is suppose to be seen as a grey area that is actually the truth about falling for someone and not getting it reciprocated the way he expected, a rom com gone wrong. even at the beginning, it states it is not a love story and we, the viewers shouldn’t see it as one. If you nor anyone still think only summer or even Tom was in the wrong, you didn’t learn anything about what that movie/book/musical was trying to say. they both should’ve just never met one another, but that’s how life is.
Thats actually a cool theory, sadly in real life alot of us dont get this closure from them and must do it ourselves because they just disappear one day and pull away for good
Every relationship is a tug of war of self-interest. Every person in a relationship has an internal sense of economy; They have a sense of what they're worth and what they want from others. Communicating an equivalent exchange is key... ...Until the currency changes or loses value!😊
People miss the fact that Tom loved the idea of Summer, but he never really understood her. He sort of imposed himself on her and espected her to feel the same.
Keep telling yourself that , because he was doing so many great things woth her and she was happy , she just used an excuse of not being with him because what is " i was never sure with you " ? Just that you don't want to be with him , then don't lie about trauma and what not
@@mikecoxlong9533 You can enjoy your time with someone and still realize something is missing in order for a long term relationship to work. As an older person, I notice Tom is focused on more surface level stuff with Summer. He likes how quirky she is, but he was never able to open her up to learn why she acts the way she way she does. Sometimes you connect more with someone in a day then you can with someone you've known for years. We don't know much about the guy Summer marries, but maybe she found that person. All I know Summer was never as intrigued by Tom as he was with her. She shouldn't have led him on as long, but she was right about ending things.
No, Tom loved the actual Summer. He never “imposed” himself on her in any scene that I remember watching. Instead, Summer just acted moody and down sometimes and Tom was simply asking her what he could do to help her feel better. The one time she seemed ready to end their intimate relationship and honestly tell him she just wanted to be friends, Tom lost it and stormed out of her apartment. As 99.999% of all young men or women might react when facing being broken up with. Perhaps you too?? If Summer was really the innocent victim of Tom’s immaturity and need to make Summer the “one” in his own mind only, that’s where the movie should have ended. But no. Summer went to Tom’s apartment to continue sleeping with him despite telling him a couple hours earlier she just wanted to be friends. Maybe you should watch the movie again.
@@WideTierive never seen someone miss the mark on a movie so badly. rewatch the beginning, they literally spell it out for you that Tom has an unrealistic view of how a relationship should be. Thats all you need to know dude
And she told him she doesn't want a relationship and married another dude after inviting him to the party. Other than that she was right throughout the movie
For someone who only wanted to be his friend and was never sure how she felt about him, she sure sent mixed signals--sleeping with him, slow dancing with him, falling asleep on his shoulder, inviting him to her place when she had already found her Mr. Right and never mentioning that fact to him. Sure Tom was a hopeless romantic, but she toyed with his emotions to the bitter end. As indicated in the intro, Summer was able to cut off the thing (her hair) that meant the most to her, yet feel nothing. Heartless.
I mean it was no one’s fault. They are both adults. Plus throughout the film, summer has stated she wanted to be nothing more. No relationship, nothing. That’s setting a boundary. I wouldn’t call it leading him on, if she states what she wanted in the beginning. And continued to do so. Tom is also an adult and could’ve removed himself from the situation at any given point, so he let himself get hurt, and fall into the hole!
@@ismaelgarcia606 yes they were both adults and yes Tom was immature, but we're still human and humans are very emotional creatures. Honestly you cannot blame Tom for that expectations vs reality scene with how sweet Summer was with him in the wedding.
Notice how her hair is longer in this scene. And she always cut it off when she was seeing Tom. A symbol that she’s found her someone she’s not willing to cut off and Tom just wasn’t that for her Also , she made it extremely clear that she didn’t want anything serious
@@burcopresents but just because is someone is nice to you doesn't mean they have feelings for you too. Although I do agree it hurts when you care for someone so deeply and they aren't able to reciprocate.
It's not about being a woman. She just knew !! No relationship are perfect, but I beleive that we have a better match out there and when we get together, we just know it's meant to be ❤
I never watched the movie, but I just saw clips and read the summary. So basically, Summer is not that into him, as much as he was into her. Summer was not in love with him although she did enjoy their fling/situationship. Since we see it from Tom's pov, it makes it seem like she's a villain when she's really not. When she does fall in love, she falls hard enough to be sure to marry the man whom she fell for...pretty normal, imo.
It wasn't her fault, and it wasn't his either, things just happen, it's easier to put the fault on someone else but you only evolve when you realize, it is what it is. This movie made me transcend hating
@@grantanimationstudios6067 yes and isn't obvious that he get to experience the consequences but she doesn't? Why isn't it ok to blame her for her mistakes ?
I think her bitch ass got pregnant cheating on Tom, and the man she's marrying either would've raised Tom's kid or his own, if it turned out not to be Tom's. But your right, 3 months is incredibly fast, and I agree, there probably is shady shit involved. You don't spend a year and a half with someone then marry the next person in less then a hundred

I love how when you first watch it you think summer is the villain, but then you realize, as you mature that Tom was worse. He tried to change her. He tried to make her fit in with his expectations that he created from tv shows and movies. Summer made it clear she never wanted anything serious and she wanted to be casual. Tom tried to change her and impose her ideas on her. Eventually that pushed her away. Her husband probably made her change without forcing it. And that's what made her stay with him.
This reminds me of how some women think they can change a certain type of man, but she gets hurt in the end, and convinces herself to keep waiting for something that will never happen.
Neither one is a villain. However there is no logical explanation for Summer going to Tom’s apartment, apologizing for trying to finally tell him she just wanted to be friends, telling him that she could not promise him she would still want to be with him in the morning, then jump right back into bed with him. Maybe I’m old fashioned, but Summer should have given Tom a kiss on the cheek, told him she just honestly can’t see him anymore, and walked back out the door. It’s not like Tom didn’t yell at the top of his lungs as honestly as he could: “I say we’re a couple!” just a few hours earlier. Sleeping with Tom again after him saying that, ended the “Summer was just honestly trying to tell Tom she didn’t feel the same about him” narrative.
@@WideTier yeah, I think they were both pretty selfish, only accounting for themselves: Tom tried to fit Summer into this perfect puzzle piece that would fix his life; Summer just did whatever she wanted, while never thinking about how she was hurting him. They were both clear about what they wanted and they just went along hoping the other one would change their mind
I don’t think tom was trying to selfishly change her. She told him she doesn’t want a boyfriend, she doesn’t know what love is etc. Yet she continues to go out with him, sleep with him, tell him she’s happy, tell him she likes him so on and so fourth. So obviously in Tom’s mind he thinks he has a chance with her… he think maybe if she’s saying and feeling all these things there’s a chance she’ll change her mind and find love in him, find a husband within him. All Tom is doing is trying his best, because he feels that with enough time summer will want that with him. And Tom knows summers parents divorced and that she’s afraid of divorce. So also I think Tom is trying to show case that he’s there for her no matter what, he never stopped trying.
@@WesternRAM I re-watched this movie yesterday after so many years and I'm amazed at this narrative that Tom tried to impose and change her. She loved her as she was so he just wanted to stay with her in a relationship, which I believe is natural. I see that both had their issues but the main problem is that Summer didn't say "I don't want a serious relationship with YOU", in Tom's mind, she didn't want a serious relationship with anyone, which is what he clearly states in their final scene when he says she didn't wanted to be anyone's girlfriend and now she is somebody's wife I believe if she had said that to him before, he would have not insisted in staying with her.
Apparently Tom should have asked Summer what her favorite book was instead of why she left Michigan in their very first conversation at the impromptu engagement party at their work.
@@APRILartz Maybe not. My point is that when Summer ran into Tom in the park after her wedding, she told Tom she met her new husband in a coffee house. There, all her future husband had to do was ask what book she was reading and suddenly she knew he was the one. LOL.

@@TheReeelBradPitt I agree. My point was made to defend Tom’s character in this movie. The vast majority of people who have commented think that Tom was the immature one who “tried to make Summer into his fantasy girl.” I never thought that. When she admitted Tom was right all along, it just wasn’t her that he was right about, to me at least, it proved that Tom did nothing wrong falling in love with her. If anything, Summer should have broken it off with Tom much sooner then she did, since she knew before him he wasn’t the one for her.
People think Summer was the villain in this movie but really she did him a favour, if she married him knowing she didn't truly love him it would have made for them both to be in a miserable marriage. What she did was best for them both. And she was kind to him in the end and gave him closure to move on.

I understand neither of them were villian! But u have to admit Summer was toxic, she never took accountability of her actions nd send mixed signals throughout the movie until she finally married
Nah, she said she didn’t want anything serious from the start. He saw her as a challenge-and the script says so too-, and only liked what he perceived of her or what reflected on him (her physical appearance or their matching tastes)

Firstly, her marriage won't last because her foundations for marriage aren't much more than fleeting feelings. Marriages that statistically last are in traditional relationships which are based on logical beliefs linked to purpose, beyond the short term excitement of romance. There's no such thing as soul mates, that's an idea that doesn't make sense, so he is right that his beliefs are BS.
Just finished watching this movie for the 1st time. When I saw some short videos of this movie, many people in the comment section were saying 500 days of trauma, and now I understand why. Summer just played with Tom for now good reason and just by saying "nothing more than friends" you really don't do all that shit she did, like kissing, having sex and other. I'm sorry to say but when your plan is to be friends only you really should not give false hopes to the person knowing that that person has some feeling towards you. This is just insane and unfortunately in real live this shit happens much often than just a Happy end. So sad
When she said “What I was never sure of with you”, why is it like that? When she was in a casual relationship with Tom they were happy and did almost everything that is normal for couples but why when a guy or a girl asks for the most simple thing from their partner then the partner is not ready and then suddenly that person is ready to do the same things and invest now for real with someone else?!!! What changes??! Why is it like that??
Theoretically how did it just happen given the amount of days from break up to wedding? Like did ANYONE notice that? There’s like a really small gap there. She fell in love and got married in like a month and a half lmao….Tom don’t worry bro, he’s just the rebound you good
I know we’re all now supposed to believe that Tom is the bad guy for projecting his dream girl onto her etc etc but dancing with him at the wedding was a pretty shitty thing to do!
The problem with Tom is he tried to understand her. Fact of the matter is that it's tough to understand women. Especially when you are a helpless romantic.
Totally wrong. His problem was he _didn't_ try to understand her, he just projected his ideal fantasy relationship onto her regardless of how clearly she told him she's not the one, she's not a girlfriend, she doesn't do serious, she just likes to have fun, etc etc etc. If he had tried to understand her he would have saved himself all kinds of trouble and pain by either accepting that she's just a fling, or not even getting involved when she clearly tells him who she is and it's not who he wants her to be.
Makes sense, that's the kind of imaginary conversation people have, and maybe it's spelled out in the book but in the movie there's no indication of that really. I think the shot from behind the bench of the two of them looking at the city should have been just a shot of him. Something to communicate to the viewer that she's not really there.
I find it amusing that some people think marriage is the end game. Its just the beginning. Summer met someone in a deli and now he is her husband. Okay. It doesnt mean they will last realistically. Objectively, if you ask me, she was looking for a way out from Tom , whom she wasnt sure of, so she grabs the first guy. Tom is right. Not everything is true love. Often times its convenience.
She did state abt not wanting anything serious in the beginning itself tom shouldve ticked there. but summer led him on lil too much even in the wedding when they danced when she already had someone else in her life. Js playgirl typa shi. She was impulsive. Irl this has become v common nowadays 😢
This hits deep. Something similar is happening to me at this point in my life. When i was around 7 i met this girl at church. I casually have memories of that point. However i never heard or saw her again. Fast forward 15 years and i saw her in facebook, she had a picture of her with a song from Luke Combs. I did end up talking to her, i was starting to like her a lot, unfortunately she did not want me. She removed me from her contacts a few days ago. I don't remember liking someone the way i liked her, especially at this point in life. We hung out a couple of times. Now just like child me, i haven't seen her again. We never were anything other than friends, but i did like her. Now i lost her and a friend i guess. She just needs time, and want to give her all she wants. I told her on this February 29 of 2024, that i would want to wake the next leap year still thinking of her. I know i must let go, that is what she would want me to do.
It's so hard to leave the person whom you mean as your friend but somehow at the point somewhere you labeled her as your part of a life. And when it's all ends you lose 2 people in one soul🥀
When I was 19 she didn’t want to be my girlfriend but she wanted to be someone else’s. Funny thing about this story is she approached me. Today I’m better off without her and I live my life as though we never met.
I'm Tom. I still wanted her after she broke up with me but ex told me she fell out of love for me for a while now. We live together but have seperated rooms now and she knows how hung up i was on her but she kept playing stupid games, with flirting, and touching, flashing me. Bitch, was messing with my feelings so i got over her after a week. Told her i was over her and she kept playing games. But nah, i wasn't going to give her that satisfaction. I asked her "why do you keep playing this games?" And she said "because it's fun".....

If someone is ever to deny Summer's accountability in Tom's suffering is to describe what exactly is stopping her from breaking up with Tom earlier. Spending so much time and doing so much and not knowing that Tom is so serious about this? Being oblivious isn't an explanation. Torturers are oblivious to the suffering of their victims too. In the end scene it sums it up, Tom is a flawed human being and so is Summer. Tom might not have learned his lesson and Summer could also have not. Both are the 'villains' and the protagonist at the same time.
You seem to be missing that they are both accountable. He ignored her desires when she made it repeatedly clear that she's not a serious dating person, and she ignored his when he made it clear that he's very serious about dating. The thing is, she told him much more flat out that she doesn't want anything serious, and he went with it hoping he could trick her into falling for him. He didn't really tell her until awhile into their fling that he thinks they should be more. He is more responsible for that and for the fact that he is the man.
What i thought from this movie was that summer made her inte tions clear at first tom really got invested and over did it. But after Tom makes it clear that "FRIENDSHIP MY BALLS" she comes back to knowing how serious tom was and wanted to give another try. This shoùldve ended there summer should realized but yes one can argue she wanted to try it seriously and it didnt work out. But what about that dance? Ive been through it and what i percieved is this what all people do they go back to their ex's before to decide anything. They either go back to tell them sorry etc or feel that spark. She dañced with him to be sure about that spark. Its so easy no? To be not on the receiving side. You just say get a grip dont die, youll be fine. Anyways summer was wrong when she danced but she did it for herself to be sure about Tom. What this movie didnt show us was people who just care about their own hearts one day end up being stuck. Summer did wrong caring about herself only and i hope one day she realizes what a terrible thing she did not telling him i was gonna get married.
I don't think its the best movie but what it does pull off well is showing two flawed people in a messy relationship they both had no business getting into. It's also like a rorschach test for people who are bitter about a relationship with a Tom or a Summer to think the movie is on their side and there's a "guilty" and "innocent" party here.
Summer is not stupid, she knows you do not want her and you've been putting her in a pedestal. How does it feel to be "loved" that way? She already said that.. "It just wasn't me that you are sure of.." -- that means, Summer tried to love you, she probably did. But overall, she wasn't sure of you like you weren't sure of her. Love doesn't put people in a pedestal, delusional Cluster Bs do who aren't capable of that.
The hopeless romantic is always going to get hurt because they don’t fall in love with the real person. They get caught up falling in love with the fantasy. Tom never loved summer, just his fantasy of her. His friend who met his significant other in elementary is interviewed about his relationship, and he concedes that his perfect fantasy woman is a bit different than his actual, but that she’s better than his fantasy because she’s real. Now you don’t have to agree with the movie’s core themes but these are inarguably the themes
@@TheReeelBradPitt i get ur point but id argue he showed he truly loved her cuz in the end, he asked her after this scene before she left "are you happy?" implying if shes happy with her life, happy with her man, i learned the definition of love from my philosophy professor, love is doing whatevers best for the person and being selfless for yourself, he made sure she was happy rather more than him being sad she wasn't with tom. he loves her.

You get it. I swear this is the point! There’s no good or bad there’s just people making choices and it turned out the way it was meant to be
Exactly there’s so many idiots that blame and put shit on tom and idolize summer, the movie is about 2 humans that wanted something different simple as that
500 days of depression it is
Just a movie but yeah that happens In real life
It's more like 500 days of delusion
Yoda ahh comment
We love the most purest and unfiltered when we are children. Adulthood was never meant to ruin that.
maturing is realizing that the characters are complex and that they were both wrong, and right in how they acted in different ways.
ahhhhhhhhhhh im still processing this movie
Summer is legit wrong
You'd think that you've said something smart, but you didn't say anything.
@@abdulazizhawsah9884no they very much did.
they both were in the wrong, but yes it is more easier to empathise for Tom. a lot of ppl tend to be like him (even me, with experiences.) with getting lost with and putting a false narrative on someone to what you imagine in your mind, to love a version you created. because you’d want them to be the person that perhaps you should be then instead find in another. and, to find someone and love them, for *them.*
summer was wrong because;
it’s a good thing she stated at the very beginning her view on love and how she wasn’t nor wants someone at all. she wanted nothing serious as she stated a lot however, although not her responsibility, seeing how repetitive Tom was getting with trying to make her change her mind about it, she should’ve ended it there and then/get away from him, especially when she did wake up one day and realised she wasn’t sure about him. essentially leading Tom on, letting him assume in the future it’ll be more. She also, should’ve told him she was engaged and not still leave Tom hanging before he had to see for himself. He deserved an actual explanation back then, then at the very end.
Tom was wrong because;
he didn’t respect her boundaries, besides the only real thing Tom liked her for was the fact they shared the same music taste - his sister was right with what she said at him and then came the rest, she made it clear, she wanted nothing serious within the whole movie and because of his expectations, he was pushing more which made him stay around with her, he shouldn’t have, he shouldn’t have expected way more he was getting in return, if anything that is, which lead to him getting hurt. again, he shouldn’t had to find out the way he did at the end, he deserved pure honesty when they talked again and she was engaged but being repetitive can make another find it hard to be honest especially with how much Tom was going against her boundaries.
that’s the whole point of 500 days of summer, the book really is more accurate at showing that, but in general, most books are.
@@jmartinez2289 they both were.

Let's be real, she found a rich guy.

@@mikecoxlong9533just cause u like someone and enjoyed being with them doesn’t mean you loved them and want to spend your life with them
No, Tom loved the actual Summer.

She felt it, just not with him. 🤷🏻♂️
And she told him she doesn't want a relationship and married another dude after inviting him to the party. Other than that she was right throughout the movie
They switched roles in the end. Summer was the one who found love and Tom was the one who questioned love.

A symbol that she’s found her someone she’s not willing to cut off and Tom just wasn’t that for her

How time it took her to fall in love and with who exactly ?

I see that both had their issues but the main problem is that Summer didn't say "I don't want a serious relationship with YOU", in Tom's mind, she didn't want a serious relationship with anyone, which is what he clearly states in their final scene when he says she didn't wanted to be anyone's girlfriend and now she is somebody's wife
I believe if she had said that to him before, he would have not insisted in staying with her.
Apparently Tom should have asked Summer what her favorite book was instead of why she left Michigan in their very first conversation at the impromptu engagement party at their work.
Emin ol hic bir sey degismezdi çünkü tom u sevmedi sevemedi ...
it wouldn’t make a difference
@@APRILartz Maybe not. My point is that when Summer ran into Tom in the park after her wedding, she told Tom she met her new husband in a coffee house. There, all her future husband had to do was ask what book she was reading and suddenly she knew he was the one. LOL.
@@WideTiershe didn’t know after that one day, that’s just how they met. She brings it up cus if she had walked in even ten minutes later, she would’ve missed out on the guy she would marry. Tom says destiny is bs, which summer used to think, but that changed her mind
It seems like this story is the reverse of what usually happens. It’s usually the guy who’s unsure and marries the next girl he meets
People think Summer was the villain in this movie but really she did him a favour, if she married him knowing she didn't truly love him it would have made for them both to be in a miserable marriage. What she did was best for them both. And she was kind to him in the end and gave him closure to move on.

Summer just played with Tom for now good reason and just by saying "nothing more than friends" you really don't do all that shit she did, like kissing, having sex and other. I'm sorry to say but when your plan is to be friends only you really should not give false hopes to the person knowing that that person has some feeling towards you. Nah, if she doubt that's not love thats it
In conclusion summer is the villain

In the commentary, the directors said this conversation was all in Tom's head as a way of him coping and didn't happen between them.
Makes sense, that's the kind of imaginary conversation people have, and maybe it's spelled out in the book but in the movie there's no indication of that really.
I think the shot from behind the bench of the two of them looking at the city should have been just a shot of him. Something to communicate to the viewer that she's not really there.
I’m definitely Tom but a female version. However, I was Summer a couple years ago as well. It’s funny how life works.

Summer did wrong caring about herself only and i hope one day she realizes what a terrible thing she did not telling him i was gonna get married.
her husband comes out of no where
Tom is not meant to be a character that you sympathize with, folks
I don't think its the best movie but what it does pull off well is showing two flawed people in a messy relationship they both had no business getting into. It's also like a rorschach test for people who are bitter about a relationship with a Tom or a Summer to think the movie is on their side and there's a "guilty" and "innocent" party here.
500 day horror
Summer is not stupid, she knows you do not want her and you've been putting her in a pedestal. How does it feel to be "loved" that way? She already said that.. "It just wasn't me that you are sure of.." -- that means, Summer tried to love you, she probably did. But overall, she wasn't sure of you like you weren't sure of her.
Love doesn't put people in a pedestal, delusional Cluster Bs do who aren't capable of that.
Tom thought as long as they do all the things that lovers do they are lovers. But Summer never thought of the same.
She literally said" I don't believe in love. I don't wanna be a girlfriend. It's a fantasy"
Then destroyed a romantic kid. Typical woman
@lordoftoxicity amen.
@@thomastran5916 yeah, but his love for her wasn’t natural, the pain he goes through after the breakup is because he ignored the signs that clearly showed they weren’t meant for each other, and by ignoring them, he consequently developed strong feelings for someone he subconsciously knew wasn’t right for him. Him saying “I hope you’re happy” is a fair well, and is him finally accepting the fact that summer is simply not the one, and as painful as it is for him, it’s not summer’s fault, there’s no bad blood between them. and even tho they aren’t right for each other, they still left a lasting impact on one another, their time together is over, and with that line, Tom is saying goodbye
@@TheReeelBradPitt isn't obvious that he get to experience the consequences but she doesn't?
Why isn't it ok to blame her for her mistakes ?

She just wasn't attracted to him enough. He was also pushing for a relationship, which is not that attractive.
I thought he loved me that much i love him but he married the other girl
