Thanks for all the kind encouraging comments y’all! I can’t overstate how helpful this mock interview with Sarah was for PA school interviews. I even used some of the tips she gave as I interviewed for PA jobs, and know they helped me get a job I can’t wait to start😄 good luck on your interviews, you’ve got this!

This woman has such a calming demeanor and I loved her responses, she'd make an incredible PA. Growing up when I wasn't able to see my pediatrician I relied on his PA for appointments and so glad for the lady she was very helpful and knowledgeable especially during my awkward teen years. Man my vocabulary is very low so this was intimidating. I am a Black Hispanic female and I think the low vocabulary has to do with the Hispanic side of me because my first language was Spanish until I finally learned English and now put Spanish second. I am not going to let the fear of big vocabulary words frighten me from becoming a PA because my medical terminology vocabulary are actually stronger than regular English vocabulary. But great job!

    • @Prettyinpink442

My advice to you is read a lot of books! In different genres like stuff you enjoy reading and stuff that you don’t . Practice writing the words you didn’t understand reading and know the definition and enunciation. If you improve your reading and writing skills you will improve your vocabulary. Lastly, I recommend practicing taking the GRE (basic reading, writing and math test) and take it when your ready . Also don’t be afraid to use big words that you are confident saying and knowing. It’s okay to make mistakes and be authentic while doing it! They have seen so many people with different backgrounds and experiences don’t let other people intimidate you about the PA interview. Be the best person you can be !

You could retake the courses. You could take a post-bacc pre med pathway for 2 years. You could work as an ER tech or paramedic or EMT. You could do an accelerated nursing program and work as a nurse for a couple of years first. Life is long.... i'm 31 and just now thinking of applying to PA school myself. I was also thinking of applying at age 24, but... i realize now I wouldnt be as prepared if I took it then. There was such a mad rush. A mad frsntic rush to "grow up and have a career". I didnt become a nurse until i was 28. So... there's time. And then you work and see patients at the age of 20 seeking detox or whatever... or patients age 45 in a deep depression. Life. Is. Long. Be patient. Be persistent. Remain hopefull.

You may have to work harder in some areas- but I'm sure you'll absolutely crush the clinical. Keep at it. Just keep at it. It's a journey. Focus on the journey. Maybe that's RN to NP. Or RN to FNP to FNP-ED specialization.(if that's what you would like). Julia Child started her cooking show at 50. I know of someone who is in her late 50's and applying to PA school.
